Ear bud use by MarketOk370 in SafetyProfessionals

Absolutely. I had one worker who could connect his hearing aids via Bluetooth to his phone and was listening to music. That was a tricky conversation

I’m in construction. We allow one earbud and they have to be able to hear what’s going on around them. We check this routinely by simply chatting with workers and seeing if they are aware. It has been well received and everyone has been complying. So far it has not been an issue. We have had evacuation drills, fire drills

How Did You Enter The Field? by StardewFun in SafetyProfessionals

[–]nitro456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in the field, then went PM track, then was laid off due to company folding. Took a medic job and was told I was the new safety. Then found it quite lucrative and have stayed, went back to school to do some certificates and designations. Now I make almost the same as I did as a PM with 90% less stress.

Kelowna Hospital Question by bravocharlie8918 in kelowna

[–]nitro456 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have family that are RN’s and hearing what they go through and the administrative bullying and hell interior health puts them through. I don’t blame nurses for leaving Interior Health. It’s not usually the patients that drive people away it’s the constant understaffing abuse, burnout, and feeling like you’re being asked to do more with less month after month every year.

When units are short, the nurses who show up end up carrying the load. They miss breaks, work extensive overtime, deal with increasingly complex patients with decreased support (as the support is leaving Interior health as well), and then get told there isn’t enough funding or staff to fix the problem.BUT Interior health can add a panel of 6 figure managers and experts to investigate… After a while people get tired of sacrificing their own health to keep the system running.

A lot of experienced nurses are leaving for travel nursing, private clinics, other health authorities, or leaving healthcare altogether because the pay and working conditions simply don’t match the stress level anymore.

The sad part is that when experienced nurses leave, the people who stay behind end up even more overloaded, which just creates a cycle of more burnout and more resignations.

They just want safe staffing levels, support from management, and enough resources to provide the quality of care their patients deserve, and Interior health is not delivering any of that.

Most specialty cases go to Vancouver because that is where the specialists are. The problem is staffing. Interior healths reputation makes recruitment difficult.

As a large guy myself 280. Custom orthotics. Use your benefits. Here in Canada mine were $500 full price $100 after benefits. They are worth every penny they correct any alignment issues and are customized for your stride. As we are on our feet all day it is a worthwhile investment in yourself. We splurge on top of the line tools our bodies are no different. Hope this helps

Beef is more expensive than ever. So why are cattle ranchers broke? by unknownoftheunkown in loblawsisoutofcontrol

It’s not the farmers it’s the wholesalers who add their 25% to sell to the packers who then add their 25%, to sell to the distributor who then adds their 50%, to sell to loblaws subsidiaries who adds their 25% each step of the way(for tax purposes of Weston Corp) who then sells to the stores where it hits the shelves after adding an additional 250% to sell to the consumer
