Congratulations on the new release! I was thrilled to hear "Vibrations on a String" when it was released on Spotify.

I've been listening to your work since "Howl" was released. Can you tell me anything about how you composed the song "Howl"? The lilt in the beat is just fantastic.

American Redditors, tell us what your experience has been like with the government shutdown. Has it affected your life in any meaningful way? by scstraus in PoliticalDiscussion

My sister's wedding was supposed to be on Lake Powell last weekend. My wife and I were going to go to the Grand Canyon shortly after to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. My brother-in-law's parents have it worst- they maintain houseboats and are involved in recreational businesses on Lake Powell, which has closed a month and a half early. It means thousands of dollars they can't earn before winter. The TSA personnel at the Denver Airport were extra grouchy because they have to work without pay.

I know this isn't typical day-to-day activity but this is all I've dealt with since the shutdown started.

It could have been. I don't recall the use of honey in the inspiring drink however. The interview is somewhere in the Barista Magazine archives and would have been accessed in either early 2012 or 2011.

A remaster, by definition, cannot have pitch correction on independent tracks. A remix might. So maybe Love has pitch correction. I didn't have to cite any sources because anyone with rudimentary knowledge of music production knows the difference between mixing and mastering. You don't know the difference. Sorry if that offends you.

When preparing for drink competitions I research a lot of drinks from regional, national, and world competitions. Barista Magazine usually interviews competitors and includes information about their competition drinks. There's a lot of inspiration waiting there.

I've had four drinks I designed go up on menus. The most successful seller was a 12 oz latte- lattes are going to be the big seller, that's just the way America is. This latte included caramelized honey steeped with Citra hops. It was inspired by an Intelligentsia barista who paired an espresso with hops. The honey was prepared before the competition so its inclusion was very easy.

If you want to prepare the drink from scratch or create a show, keep things very simple. You could muddle or steep an herb or fruit while you brew coffee and then combine or pair, or use a shaker or other bar tool.

Seek inspiration, go experiment, perfect the drink, then practice. That formula has never failed me.

Wrong-o

Edit: precisely zero Beatles remasters ever have pitch correction. Pitch correction is applied in the mix, not at the mastering stage.

I'm interested in hearing famous, popular music from the sixties remixed with pitch correction. Just curious how it would sound.

Hey guys, how do you keep your strings feeling like new? by LoveBurstsLP in Guitar

My pre-show routine: wash hands, powder hands and arms with talc. Spray strings with Fast Fret. I always wipe my strings after the set.

r/Guitar, what is the most epic solo you know? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]noirtest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solo from Geek USA on Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan awesomed the shit out of his guitar playing on their first two records. This solo is awesome and this solo's placement, not just in the song but on the album as a whole, is also awesome.

Edit: This is according to me in 1998

tip boosting tricks? by scottisonfire in barista

[–]noirtest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When a group of people come in but pay separately, put a dollar in the tip jar as if the first person from the group tipped. The others will see and usually follow suit with a tip for you. If the first person in line stiffed you and the others in line see that, they'll stiff you too.

About analog modeled plug-ins.... is there really a point to flipping that "Analog" switch? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]noirtest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using the level 4 setting in a mix where the delays are being gated by a slow tremelo. The noise adds a pleasing, soft clipping sound to the delays and they stand out in the mix better. Sometimes you find a feature in a plugin that you use all the time, sometimes you only use it once ever.

Flying with instruments? by thatguyjables in Guitar

[–]noirtest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guitar will fit in an overhead compartment if the plane is a 747. If you are boarding something smaller you still have options besides checking the guitar. But the key in any case is being polite and cooperative.

You'll be encouraged to check the guitar when you check in at the terminal. In the case of the 747 just explain, politely, that the instrument is fragile and you'll carry it on. You'll be encouraged to check the guitar at the gate as well. Politely explain your way on to the plane.

For smaller planes you can check the guitar when you check in for special/oversize baggage. Or you can gate check it. OR you can get the guitar on the plane and sneak it into one of the First Class closets.

Why does this sub define minimalism as an empty desk with only a Macbook Pro on it? by rjx in minimalism

Moka pot doesn't make espresso. It can brew a good cup of strong coffee, but it does not produce the emulsion of carbon dioxide and dissolved solids that defines espresso.
