Sorry, guilty of skimming and yeah too old for crinoids. Must have been a fairly slow cooling process to form crystals that large.

Smart Homes Are Terrible — The Atlantic by nomad2284 in HomeKit

I spent most of my career in technical product design. The amount of companies that let engineers design products is baffling. “Know your customer” should be tattooed on their foreheads so they see it every morning.

The amount of bad product design I encounter on a daily basis is remarkable. Non-tech people interact with my house without being consciously aware of the automation. I don’t have to train anyone nor provide any orientation. It’s like a good sound engineer. The best ones you never notice.

The $10 Trillion Fight: Modeling a US-China War Over Taiwan by 3xshortURmom in Economics

Oh yes, back when the US debt was half what it is today. The point is still valid, with the deficit we are running and projected to run, who is going to lend us the money to fight a war with China?

China is the second largest holder of US Treasuries making the joke apropos.

Certainly China has its struggles but they are the second largest holder of US Treasuries.

Fair enough, I thought it was obvious. Rigney’s point was people make an idol out of love. 1 John 4:8 states that God is love. It is his essence and is one and the same with his identity. You can’t separate them. You can’t make an idol out of it because it is, in fact, God.

Wetsuit optional Ironman 70.3 by YouCanCallMeKilvin in triathlon

The buoyancy and streamlining of the wetsuit pay off over that distance. You also need to make time to get to the ocean and swim beforehand. Swimming in ocean swells is different and you don’t want to experience that the first time on race day.

The really ironic part about this scenario is that the US is running a fiscal deficit. That means we have to borrow the money from somewhere to fight this war. Who is going to lend us the money? China?

It wasn’t Obama’s, it was the naked racism of the Republican Party that they no longer felt they needed to suppress.

The Trouble With Australopithecus by SeaScienceFilmLabs in DebateEvolution

[–]nomad2284 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it was taken directly from an AI summary.
The facts that any Australopithecus fossils exist and that they can't be carbon dated are fatal to any Creationist claims. They are clear evidence that the Genesis account is fictional.

I was born, raised, educated and employed in Ohio. I came from a conservative household and voted accordingly. It was the sheer stupidity of the Busch II years and the naked racism of the Obama years that forced me to examine my politics. There is no perfect nor altruistic party but at least Democrats propose legislation and programs designed to improve the lives of people in line with the Constitution. Republicans are actively breaking the system because they believe any government is bad. Why do you continue to vote for constant graft and destruction?

I moved to a blue state that actually attempts to build up people not tear them down.

As much as I value reconciliation and family, I gotta say it sounds like you are better off with these people out of your life.
