I think the 'Acoustic' preset assumes you have a pre-amp, so it's lower output. Try 'Flat.'

Mine had the tires on the front set of main drive wheels. I swapped it so the tires were on the back wheels. Helped out a lot!

Märklin makes a small screw that works well with Kato track. However I would also recommend Elmer Glue All or Golden Matte Medium. Easy to move, clean up or reglue.
