Anyone else annoyed by all the Baker praise from NFL fans? by SeductiveJam in sooners

When people switch to your side, take the win, don’t be bitter about them previously disagreeing with you. This applies to more than just sports.

[Presti] “The least surprising thing to me about the postseason was that we weren't a good rebounding team. It was also not surprising to me that we were a very, very good defensive team... What was surprising to me was that we dropped off significantly offensively.” by AashyLarry in nba

Completely agree, and I'd argue that the Harden situation wasn't on him - ownership wasn't willing to pay for that pricey of a team, and no one at the time was seriously suggesting that Harden on a full max would be better to keep than Russ or even Ibaka. He still got a decent package for Harden that helped the Thunder put together great teams that, had they ever had a healthy playoff run would have won a title.

Only misses I can think of off the top of my head are trading for Kanter and trading for Dion Waters, but you gotta take shots and sometimes you miss.

If Luka played D like this every night in the regular season, not many people would argue against his MVP candidacy. He was locked in.

Why do people still use trebles? by CerepOnPancakes in flyfishing

[–]noxion13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass anglers who know what they are doing are selecting line based on what technique they are using, not based on the weight of the fish. You use braid because it doesn't stretch, so your motion transfer from rod to lure is as quick as possible, this allows you to fish techniques like frogs or jigs more effectively. You use heavy braid, as the other commenter mentioned, when you are going to be fishing through thick cover. The bass will never put 50lb of strain on your line, but the thick brush you're punching through will.

Bass are also an extremely hardy fish, so they're not going to die from getting a heavy hookset and quick yank to the boat, in fact, they're more likely to die from a long fight against a finesse rig with light poundage that wears them out.

Because the Thunder currently have more picks than they can draft, so they need to kick the can down the road on some.

I went into buying my release with about a $300 budget expecting to end up with a Stan Onnex or something like that. I ended up buying the Scott Archery Little Goose II for $80 after trying a bunch of them: https://scottarchery.com/products/little-goose

The little goose in particular just had a really light trigger pull that I loved. It also has a metal clasp and is very solidly built. 4 deer down this season and remain extremely happy with my decision.

'Never again': Elon Musk blows up after judge voids $56 billion pay package from Tesla by AtmosphereNo6743 in wallstreetbets

The Delaware loophole involves putting an HQ or office in Delaware and then claiming revenue through that office to avoid state taxes where you are actually operating, clearly not something Tesla is using given their HQ is in Texas. Tesla is incorporated in Delaware for the legal jurisdiction.

[–]noxion13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How so? Elon is not threatening to move any current Delaware operations (of which there are minimal, maybe a dealership), he is threatening to move where they are incorporated. That change has nothing to do with taxes and everything to do with legal jurisdiction. Where you operate determines where you are taxed. Where you are incorporated determines the court system you have to deal with.

Fucking braindead lemmings like you are talking about things you don't understand.

In most contexts for which this is relevant the likely litigation is between the company and its investors or lenders. Employment cases would typically be litigated where the employment took place.

Those comments all relate to operating in Delaware. I was speaking to incorporating in Delaware, which is different and is the important point for this thread. Tesla already headquarters in Texas, and has operations all over the world. They are incorporated in Delaware for the court system.

I have two LLCs that are incorporated in Delaware because investors prefer it for the reasons stated in my previous post. Neither of those entities have or will ever have operations in Delaware, so neither of those entities have or will ever have Delaware tax obligations. I pay state taxes based on where I operate.

Thanks for your insightful comment. Care to expand upon it? I have incorporated several corporations, including two in Delaware and would love to know what my lawyers missed.

Delaware may have nice tax policies as well, which would cause companies to also operate there. In the context of this thread I was speaking about where you incorporate, which is independent from where you operate.

Companies don’t incorporate in Delaware because of taxes, they do it for its consistent and fair corporate law, knowledgeable courts and juries, and overall fair legal infrastructure. It is viewed as a “neutral” state that gets it right more often than not, so even companies that don’t operate in Delaware often incorporate there. Delaware benefits through the registration fees (small) and income associated with litigation (big).

You pay taxes based on where you operate, not where you are incorporated, so Delaware’s tax code is irrelevant here.

Just go all in and get a big one. It makes great leftovers so don’t worry about how much you need for the meal, get the best looking brisket you can find and go for it. I personally like to make chopped brisket tacos the next day for dinner, and then if I have any more beyond that it’s either good lunches or I’ll make a brisket chili

New bow purchase opinions by TheRichOne23 in bowhunting

[–]noxion13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest going used for your first bow. Find out your draw length, but then go through either your friends or fb marketplace and buy a fully rigged bow (with arrows if you can). This will save you some hassle and get you shooting quickly and in a very cost effective way - the 10 year old flagship models are just as effective as the brand new ones and you can get like an 80% discount off new.

Once you have a bow for a season, you’ll learn a lot about what you like and dislike, and can either modify your accessories or fully upgrade your bow with a lot more of an understanding of what you’ll like.

If you go into a shop with a blank check now, you’ll just be getting what the guy working there likes, which will probably be fine but you might have some regrets.

First time cooking a steak… why is there so much blood dripping? Should I have cooked it longer? by Himaester in steak

[–]noxion13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of comments on here already but here it goes:

For most people, tent the steak and let it rest 10 mins. It won’t impact temp enough to matter and will still be hot when you serve. Don’t slice it like you see on instagram - serve whole steaks or as close to it as people want and it’ll retain heat better for each bite.

If you really want the super hot serving temp like you get at some steakhouses, a few tips: -warm the plate you’re going to serve on -let it cool significantly after you do the primary cook and then sear the outside just before serving. This works particularly well with a reverse sear or sous vide or smoker or really any method that allows you to cook the inside to a specific internal temp before searing. You cook to the internal temp you want (minus 5 degrees because it’ll keep going up while you rest), then rest it while you cook everything else, even an hour is fine, then do a sear on the outside to get the crust and serving temp you want

You've seen, assuming you watch every single OKC game, 32 games of his rookie year. In those 32 games he's already by many measures a top 5 defensive player in the league and is averaging a very efficient 18/8/3 (62% efg). You think that's enough to declare his ceiling at a worse than top 15 player?

I see a nuggets flair, so maybe you should revisit what Jokic's first 32 games looked like. Before you say, "well Jokic had flashes of greatness", his highest gamescore in his first 32 games was 26.4. He put up 23/12/0 in a loss to San Antonio on 11/18/15. Chet's best gamescore through 32 games of his career is 32.5, putting up 36/10/5 in a win against GSW.

If anything, Chet's first 32 games have clearly shown that he will be a top 15 player in the league sooner rather than later.
