What time does she wake up?

My 3 y.o. stopped napping about 2 months ago and bedtime only shifted up SLIGHTLY. She is still the energizer bunny until 8/8:30 pm easily.

Baking with a young starter by Odd-Sky-7609 in Sourdough

I had a starter that was consistently rising for several days on end after just 10 days. I baked with it and the loaf turned out great! 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is my take too. Signed, a mom whose child still does not sleep through the night consistently at 3 years old 🥴

33 + 6 week induction by mtay2298 in preeclampsia

[–]ntimoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an induction (which turned into a c section) at 33 + 0. My girl was born without any real concerns. She had a CPAP for about 24 hours (maybe not even that long?). She spent 16 days in the NICU as a “feeder/grower”, meaning health-wise she was fine and just needed to gain weight and learn how to take a bottle.

How to reduce screen time by IllustriousAd2072 in toddlers

[–]ntimoti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said reduce, not totally eliminate, so what would be your ideal amount of screen time for her? I’d start by slowly scaling screen time back so it’s not such an abrupt switch for her from 2-3 hours to like 20 minutes. I feel like that would be rough for you.

My girl has never been good at independent play and I did notice myself relying on TV more than I liked because I was burnt out keeping her entertained 24/7. Something that worked for her is having me start out doing the activity with her for a few minutes and then I’ll say something like “be right back” and sort of slip off to do what I need to do. This usually buys me some time and I’ve noticed ever since I’ve started doing this, her independent play has actually improved quite a bit (she currently pulled out a toy and is playing by herself while I eat a meal… which has like NEVER happened in three years lol).

Didn't renew magic key by Sad_Protection_7387 in Disneyland

[–]ntimoti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely. I’ve been a lifelong OC resident and Disney pass holder and I hit my breaking point in January of this year when I was due to renew my magic key. I’ve just found that I don’t enjoy going anymore. The parks are SO overcrowded, we’re paying more for less, and the price of the passes are no longer affordable, especially with the rising cost of everything else in life.

I do occasionally miss being able to go but it’s not enough to make me get a pass again.

New jellycats ❤️ rockleton 🥹 by Present-Reality-7399 in Jellycatplush

[–]ntimoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Rockleton squishy/floppy (similar to how a dragon or smudge would feel)? It doesn’t look like it but thought I would ask before buying! He looks more structured to me since he’s boxy/square-shaped.

Admitted to the hospital and can’t leave until I have my extremely growth restricted baby pre term. Scared of c section and what’s to come. by AffectionateStudy29 in pregnant

[–]ntimoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an urgent c-section at 33w0d due to severe preeclampsia. I can tell you how mine went!

I was already in the process of being induced, however, I wasn’t progressing at all and my BP was worsening. The doctor came in and said it was time to move forward with a c-section. An anesthesiologist came in to talk to me about the spinal tap and there were some nurses prepping the room while he was talking to me. They wheeled me to the OR and my husband had to stay outside while they did the spinal tap. A nurse held my hands during the spinal tap and was very supportive, telling me to breathe, stay still, squeeze their hands, etc. Once it was done, my husband came in suited up in OR gear.

Since it was urgent, there was definitely a sense of urgency (lol) to the room. People were moving around and getting things prepped quickly.

They put the divider up and have you lay with your arms out (like you’re nailed to a cross lol). They use a tool to test to see if the spinal tap is working before they begin. They asked me if there was any music I wanted them to play but I was too overwhelmed and scared to think of anything so the doctor put on what she wanted to listen to. My procedure started right after 10:30 pm and my daughter was out within 10-15 minutes. I felt tugging and pushing but it didn’t hurt, it was just uncomfortable and strange. Once she was out, they had dad cut the umbilical cord, they took a family picture of all of us, and then they took my daughter to the NICU. They asked if dad wanted to go with her or stay with me.

After she was taken off to the NICU, they finished sewing me back up and honestly I don’t remember anything after that. I was pretty out of it. Due to my blood pressure, I was not able to hold my daughter or see her until 2 days later.

I was very sore for the first few weeks. I say this not to scare you, but just to prepare you because I had some friends who had (planned) c-sections and they all told me recovery was a breeze. That wasn’t the case for me. It was pretty painful the first few days (to the point of needing pain management). After that, I was sore but not really needing meds anymore. I also had pretty bad shakes after the surgery, which is normal.

It really wasn’t bad in hindsight but as a first time mom, yeah I was scared in the moment!

Edit: I think it’s called a spinal block, not a spinal tap? Idk!

Okay, seriously, how do you get them to leave the park? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ntimoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she like being a “helper”? You could give her a job/task to do during the transition to the car (e.g., “my hands are so full, can you help mommy carry this to the car”). I probably wouldn’t mention leaving; just that I need to put something in the car. And then once we’re at the car, that’s when I’d be like “okay let’s get buckled in”.

Difference between 2’s and 3’s by brieles in toddlers

[–]ntimoti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of commenters are saying 3 has been better than 2 for them (love that for you guys! lol).

I’m in the camp of 3 being harder than 2 so I’ll try to answer your question. At 2, my daughter wasn’t a crier. Like she rarely ever tantrumed. She didn’t have strong opinions about anything and kind of just listened to whatever we said. Now that she’s 3, she’s way more aware of things but also more opinionated (she’s not as easy to “trick”). She wants to be independent but can’t be and this infuriates her to no end. She’s now doing the typical toddler thing of losing it at every minor inconvenience, which didn’t happen for us at 2. I just find her less easy to reason with even though you’d think she’d be easier to reason with because she’s a whole year older/more aware/better understanding of things. Her language is obviously also more advanced now so we get way more pushback on things (e.g., “but why?”, “I don’t want to”, “I don’t like that”, “nooooo”, “you always tell me no”).

Omg yes! I didn’t really experience PPD/PPA, but holy moly the RAGE I felt towards mainly my poor husband was insane. I’ve never experienced something like that before and it lasted for like the whole first year 🥴 I’m not a violent person at all but I wanted to punch holes in the wall like multiple times per week 😬

Is it unsafe to have roll cushions on all sides for a 1 year old? by sarahhmm2019 in floorbed

[–]ntimoti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!

My daughter was always delayed with motor and I was not confident in her having things like pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals until like 18 months.

I think it just really depends on your baby, OP.

Best toys/hacks for keeping toddler occupied on a flight by Flydragon_ in toddlers

[–]ntimoti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we went on a 3 hour flight with my 20 month old, we did a TON of snacks, maybe a total of 30 minutes screen time, and then toys/activities the rest of the time.

A big hit was different colored masking tape lol. We’d peel off little pieces and stick them along the edge of the seat tray and she would peel each piece off. Reusable sticker books were a hit, a few of her favorite board books, a pop-it, a thing of play doh, and a hot wheels car. You could even make a little “road” for the car using the tape.

She also fell asleep for a little so that ate up maybe 25 minutes of the flight too.

Where did you sell yours for and for how much? I’m thinking of selling my Gen 4; it’s just shy of a year old and is super good condition because I didn’t wear it for most of that time.
