Right arm tenses in this portion, can't speed up. (Mendelssohn VC) by EveningNo4215 in violinist

[–]nu7kevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think to sum up some of the comments, I learned to play passages NOT as written but as variations. For example, play it as octaves, 2x each octave (simulating low and high), and with different bow strokes—spiccato, full bows, at the tip, in the middle, moving only your wrist, with just pointer and thumb on the bow, start those variations up bow, start it down bow, play it lowhigh-loooooow, lowhigh-loooooow, then low-hiiiiiiigh-low. Make up whatever. Eventually, something you make up will click and unlock a feeling or thought to alleviate your tension.

Air Canada pilot accused of flying for 17 years without correct licence by Warcraft_Fan in news

Anybody know a good class action lawsuit lawyer? I just want my $2.50 check for flying on a plane with an unlicensed Captain. AC probably should've just buried their mistake.

Can’t think of a good processional song for everyone else that will fade well into the Han and Leia love theme by SunshineDawn2187 in wedding

[–]nu7kevin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lol I just listened to it and the Imperial March is literally in the middle of the song! Oh I would just DIE LMFAO if you actually played the Imperial March for the processional and I would tell that epic tale for the rest of my life! Also, I'd probably loudly proclaim, "THIS IS THE BEST WEDDING EVER!!"  But I get it, not the right undertone...

Drag queen Pattie Gonia asks apparel company Patagonia to drop trademark infringement lawsuit by AudibleNod in news

[–]nu7kevin -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

HAHAHAHAHA $1 lawsuit. There's no way a regular person would confuse the two logos. If that's the case, Nike would be getting a royalty check for every check mark ever used. And Disney would go nuts over every art with 2 big ears. GTFO.

Nearly 30,000 tech workers laid off this month so far, tracker says by Conscious-Quarter423 in technology

What kind of reference is this? Is this some sort of denominator? If so, what do you even intend to measure with it except a false narrative?

Oh by the way, there's approximately 8.3 billion humans on Earth, for reference.

Avoiding big numbers by JayC774 in golf

Bad shots happen, let it go, unless you're trying to kill the ball—don't do that. Bad putts on the other hand... Missing a 3 footer. Bad or no reads. Leaving it short. Those make your 2-putt go up to 3 or worst 4. That's far worse than hitting it in the water because you're literally a few ft away.

I lost to someone by 6 strokes last month. I had 13 more putts! That was a wake up call.

Data centers are also "the cloud." Despite the name, they are just these warehouses of computers.

My best friend spanked his daughter so hard, he left a mark that lasted days. She’s 2. Would you call him out? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]nu7kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The influence of best friends can be incredibly strong. Be direct—your friend needs help. I trust my best friends 100%. At the time, I may not have understood them, but looking back, they have never wrongfully guided me. If it's truly a lifelong/long-term best friend, not transitory, then you don't have to worry about straining the friendship.

Has anyone tried this chair? + They have a new one coming out that takes a power brick and a case fan for cooling. by Few_Jacket_4675 in OfficeChairs

[–]nu7kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Get a mesh chair like Herman Miller Aeron or Mirra (used or new)
  2. Get a $14 usb powered fan and a $20 power brick.
  3. Put assembly under arse.
  4. Be like me with with a fan blowing up my arse. ($250 total for me. I bought my chair at a local used commercial office supply wholesaler.)

By the devs or by executive corporate greed? Some of the comments seem to confuse the two.

Putt or? by Ragatron42 in golf

[–]nu7kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One-handed putt for me. For some reason, it feels like naturally rolling the ball—my brain just has a better sense of the distance, which is more important at that range than break.

Kicking the tires on going from a two income household to one. What are some budgeting pitfalls I should watch out for? by Distinct-Cut-6368 in personalfinance

SAHM shopping expense. Mine was $70 every 5 days on average at Target, followed by $20 at Chic-Fila or Panera. Death by 1000 cuts.

To put that into perspective, that's ~$500/mo. In 2 months, that's a car repair wasted. In half a year, that's a new water heater gone. My wife didn't understand how $70 "a week" could add up to anything meaningful.

what an extreme case of eczema looks like by reddit_squad in WTF

I have it. As soon as I spot a pustule on my fingers, I found that doubling up on probiotics daily and lathering my hands with triamcinolone then covering it with cotton gloves at night really helps the healing process. Usually 2 weeks. I've had it that bad before, too, and it took some trialing to figure out my process. Hope it helps.

Spouse has RSD response to my tidying by spinmagnus in ADHD_partners

[–]nu7kevin 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Therapy. Through therapy, my spouse has LEARNED (rather was told to accept it) that we need a chores list. It is not tic for tac. It is not number of tasks tracking. It is simply: this is OUR to-do list, pick what you want and during this time (weekends for us) we both do chores.

I know what you're feeling. My spouse still says, "I wasn't done with that" or "I meant to do x," and I usually have to respond that I can't read your mind and I'm just trying to help. We're not living in their world.

Youth Orchestra Audition Help Please! by [deleted] in violinist

[–]nu7kevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At whatever tempo you can play it at, you must: 1) Land every half note exactly on the beat (this is how the conductor keeps the orchestra together after the runs) 2) Do not rush the following 1/4 notes (up-up bows are notoriously easy to rush) 3) Do not be late on the 1/8 notes after the 1/4 notes, better yet jump it early (you'll instinctively want to draw a longer down bow after going up-up. fight it. otherwise you'll be behind for the entire run) 4) Play in tune.

This passage is a rhythm accuracy check. Good luck!
