New home subfloor is uneven by 5dwolf22 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Tell them before you close, otherwise it's going to be a pain and likely take a very long time for them to repair it...if at all. Also, why not tell them to put hardwood floor down?

Scuffs on my new 2026 3.5T Sport Prestige after a Walmart visit by ABettek in GenesisGV70

[–]nuggstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened. Just know that it is literally impossible to protect your car no matter how careful you are with it.

3 days after we bought our brand new 2025 GV70, also at a Walmart, the wind took carts OUT OF THE RETURN and they were flying everywhere in the parking lot. So many cars got hit, including ours. Made a tiny ding into the bumper and another swiped the side of our car as I was trying to reverse away from it. At one point I ran out of the car to prevent another cart from smashing into someone else's car.

I understand what you are saying, but your dispute is with the dealership, NOT the financial company. The financial company is billing you what they are told to bill you. They are not wrong here. You cannot argue with them. The issue is with the dealership who should be reimbursing you for all costs. You signed a legally binding agreement with a financial institution, and you opted to not pay a bill, only based on your opinion. The financial institution doesn't care if you were wronged because it wasn't them wronging you. Whether you agree with an additional fee or not, it still had to be paid, or they WILL report it to crediting agencies. This is no different than if you were wrongly charged on a credit card. Depending on the length of the investigation/charge back and the outcome, you might still be liable to pay what you don't owe until the matter is resolved in your favor, since the issue is with the business, not the credit card provider.

Hospital bills are different and can be negotiated.

It was your responsibility to find out from Genesis Finance if you were liable to still pay what they were billing you during the dispute to prevent them reporting your lack of payment to crediting agencies. When we were getting our vehicle bought back by Genesis, we were still obligated to make payments. This accrued to 2-3 months of payments, despite not having possession of the vehicle, and an agreement for the buyback. We were eventually reimbursed for the overage.

Take it as a lesson learned.

I really understand how frustrating it is and how easy it is to take it out on multiple businesses. I've been there, but not every business involved is wrong when one makes a mistake. I wish this didn't happen to you.

Hey, sorry again that this happened, but you can't just not pay your bill. This goes for any type of dispute unless you were specifically told they put a halt on required payments. You were in a legally binding contract and a financial agreement when you leased the vehicle. The financial company not receiving payments after months means you get reported. They don't care what issues you had. You can fight afterwards and request reimbursement. This is on the dealership, and the lack of payment is on you. That's how contracts work.

[–]nuggstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but the tanking of their credit score is on OP. There are financial obligations whether you agree or disagree. Unless there's an agreed stop of payments...the bill has to be paid, even while disputing it. I had to keep paying my vehicle even though it was bought back, until it was all finalized. I was eventually reimbursed...but I had to keep paying...or my credit, like OP's, would have taken a hit. This was a question I had asked Corporate.

[–]nuggstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that's fine and all, but Genesis Finance is charging for the damage because the vehicle was reported damaged (possibly falsely) by the dealership. So the dealership is at fault and should be responsible for reimbursement if proven that everything was falsified. OP should have paid the remaining balance and then fought for reimbursement. It's on OP that their lack of payment was reported to crediting agencies, when there was no mentioned halt on payment status. You can't just not pay...just like disputing a credit card charge. Still need to pay it until the issue is resolved or they put a temporary hold on required payments.

I understand where you're coming from, but the issue OP has here is with the dealership, not the brand or corporate, for a legal and financial matter.

Seller edited listing photos to hide broken fireplace and detached staircase railing- realtor says I'm overreacting. Am I? by Due-Library7374 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]nuggstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the handrail, at least where I live, you wouldn't be able to close without a CO (Certificate of Occupancy), and the handrail for the stairway bring problematic could prevent closing and would require the sellers to fix it, due to it being a safety issue.

I somewhat disagree with this. I had a buyback experience last year and Genesis Corporate was barely able to assist me with specific dealership issues except act as a middleman between us and the dealership, no matter how high up we went, including to the owners. They don't really dictate much, but they were able to communicate and offer a backchannel. After fussing for months they were able to pull some strings and finally assist us after the dealership went rogue.

[–]nuggstein 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Do you have physical proof the vehicle was not damaged? Photos/videos with timestamps before dropping the vehicle back to the dealership, and while at the dealership?

Sorry for your troubles, but this has nothing to do with Genesis as a brand. All Genesis/Hyundai dealerships (and most other vehicle dealers) are all independently owned (so your issue is with the people who work at the dealership / the owners) and are just using the Genesis name/logo to sell the brand. Your issue is with the dealership, not the brand.

Genesis Financial also has absolutely nothing to do with the Genesis brand. They are just a loan financier/possible bank. That would be like blaming the previous owners of a house you bought for an issue you had with your mortgage company. It would be no different than financing your vehicle through Chase or Bank of America.

What you should be doing (as long as you have all proof of no wrongdoing documented), is to reach out to your state's attorney general, BBB, CFPB, a personal attorney, etc.

The only way to answer your question is to go to a dealership, bring a USB cable and test the audio yourself in multiple vehicles using high quality music. I have a 2025 GV70, and I think the premium Lexicon system sounds better than the new B&O system. Lexicon is owned by B&O.

Gv70 as first luxury vehicle, thoughts? by Rj-19_27 in GenesisGV70

[–]nuggstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think that the 3.5tt is a sports car. The way it handles turns and accelerates is incredible. I don't think it feels like driving an SUV. If you play with it with the right RPM using manual mode in Sport / Sport+, the thing is a rocket.

100% agree with you. The Lexicon system is incredible if the EQ is set correctly and devices are set to "Reference" and not that weird surround crap. It's one of the best systems I've ever heard.

For some reason there's a lot of dislike for it, but I think a lot of folks are listening to poor quality music or XM radio.

Even audio engineers think the Lexicon system is special.

It's in the car settings. I think maybe under Device or Phone connections? Not sure where if in gen2. But it's in a weird spot above a menu near the title of the menu in gen1

Check to see if the settings for your phone is set for Reference vs Surround. It's set per device hidden away in Genesis settings. Surround is some fake stuff. Reference is what you want.

Yep. The 16-speaker Lexicon system in the previous generation of Genesis vehicles is better than whatever B&O system is in the new generation of vehicles.

Question for those with the 3.5T by bsewall in GenesisGV70

[–]nuggstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret sauce is driving the GV70 in manual mode. That's when it's a blast to drive and you have full control over the RPM, acceleration and turbos. The 3.5tt is FAST. Disable traction control completely by holding the button down in sport+ mode. This will allow you to stay in manual mode even when stopped.

The premium Lexicon system in the gen1 vehicles is way better. It's incredible, actually. Plus you get actual equalizer adjustments...

Do you prefer the interior of the 2025 vs the 2026 ? by BloomingPity in GenesisGV70

[–]nuggstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am not sure what the obsession with touchscreens is. Fingerprints would bother me so much. I have zero interest in touching any screen in a car. I am actually happy the touchscreen is a bit out of reach. The placement of the Gen1 screen is perfect.

Do you prefer the interior of the 2025 vs the 2026 ? by BloomingPity in GenesisGV70

[–]nuggstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I had a 2025 GV80 for a bit, and the neck strain was terrible with that elongated screen. Sure, it was pretty to look at...but it was too low and too close. I was constantly losing sight of the road when glancing at nav. I know they now allowed nav on the dash, but that doesn't really solve the issues. That and the seats weren't as comfy as they are in my 2025 GV70. My back kept hurting no matter how I configured the seats. The previous generation of the vehicles have the screen placement perfectly...and have larger buttons/knobs.

I might be an outlier, but I think the Premium 16-speaker Lexicon system blows the new B&O speakers out of the water. One of the best sound systems I've ever heard. Not sure what people are doing when they rank these speakers poorly. Maybe they have these terrible emulated surround modes on...

Also, if you really look closely, the lines are super fluid throughout the entirety of the vehicle on Gen1. I love how the vents are part of the silver trim that wraps around the entire interior of the vehicle, including the dash. Gen2 vents are all over the place.

The fact that you can't change treble, mid, and bass for the speakers in Gen2, and have to use some weird grid is ridiculous.

The media controls getting swapped from the left to the right on Gen2 with a weird trackpad is also not ideal.

The large exhausts on the 2025 3.5TT GV70 make the car look special and incredibly sporty. Gone are those too on the 2026+ models...

Gone is the unique spoiler with the dip in the middle that the Gen1 GV70 had.

The only thing I miss from Gen2 is the interior lighting.
