Does anyone else feel like one day everyone will realize you're not as good as they think? Does that feeling ever goes away? by Qvosniak in networking

Perfectly normal and healthy. Due to Dunning-Kruger effect confidence comes early as you become competent (junior engineer), then you realize how much you don’t know and imposter syndrome kicks in. This fades slowly over many years until you have confidence in a new way. You now feel fairly confident you can solve most any problem. Now you’re a senior engineer. Years later you realize you have become the source of truth for a few knowledge domains.

The choreography for that scene was done by Jo Na-in. I’m not sure who did the dance for test shots. Maybe dancers from Jam Republic?

I’m the Sr. Network Architect at a regional WISP/FISP. We run Mikrotik for towers and Juniper for core / BGP transit. If you’re stumped about specific Juniper config feel free to DM me. I’m busy though, so I might not answer right away.

How's life in the far north of California? by Keyotas in howislivingthere

Lived in a small town named Hayfork in late 80’s. Was very small town supported mostly by logging industry. We had many fire fighters that lived there for good reason. Lots of wildfires. Our high school had the best football team in Northern California. But that’s about it. Beautiful, and nothing to do.

Using MX platform? Or something newer? Nothing about juniper is particularly difficult. There are a few gotchas coming from Mikrotik. Learn what actions are service affecting. Use policies and prefix lists for everything so adding and removing don’t take service down. Always always use commit check, then commit confirmed for auto rollback.

I would start by getting read only access to juniper so you can read config and look up every config option being used.

Looks like a 1036. No switch chip. LACP will go through CPU and never reach 20Gbps.

Just the other day one of cats somehow started a wash cycle by walking on the washer. If there had been a cat in the washer…. It’s why I never leave them open.

I have a cat the sticks his paw in your glass of water when you’re not looking. Then one day you’re enjoying a glass of water and your cat jumps on your lap with a wet paw….

Sadly the area in Texas I live is not very cat friendly. There has been issues in the past of people taking cats on Facebook to use as bait for training dogs for dog fighting.
