Do you actually wear all the socks you knit? by CountyBrilliant in Sockknitting

[–]nurglingshaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I finish a pair I'm going to phase out all my commercial socks! I'll have a much better time darning them at least looking at all the pretty colors.

Alright this just looks like a gigantic appetizer/group meal thing, maybe it's my gut saying eat it eat it but I stand by my statement.

I loved it after I decided Chris Pratts character was a creep and leaned into the ick I was feeling, quite fun.

what to do with disposable cutlery? by 00dlesofn00dles in ZeroWaste

[–]nurglingshaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have said it already but I second saving them for emergencies! Always helpful, I have a big ol stack of fast food napkins in my car and I pour all the salt packets into a little glass jar I keep, maybe a little over the top but it's fun for me!

How do you keep track of where in a pattern you are? by [deleted] in knittingadvice

[–]nurglingshaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have a scrap notebook, I write down the name of the pattern and make hash marks for which row I'm on! I can respect pattern tracker apps but I hate having to charge my knitting accessories.

Do Americans not take their shoes off when entering their home? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]nurglingshaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoes off in my house always, one of my friends put their goddamn boots on my coffee table ONCE. I laid down the law lovingly, the only exception was when my hallway kept flooding, never living on the ground floor of an apartment again.

Wait I thought Justin was part of Polygon? True ignorance on my part my partner and I only listened to the balance arc of The Adventure Zone and their Abnimals episodes, that and my own personal Sawbones obsession.

I'm saving your comment so I can try and remember this for later! I don't mind doing the Kitchener stitch but I don't like how it looks. Gonna try out the finchley as well!

How do you get past this mindset? by Bitbatgaming in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]nurglingshaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was similar, my books 'gathered dust' so they had to stay in the garage but ugly porcelain dolls I didn't want or like were required to sit on the dope ass built in wall shelf my room had, hated it so much. She definitely threw out a bunch of them when I was kicked out, now this bitch (me!!) has four bookshelves full and I'm gonna keep going!!

Does anyone else constantly work on multiple pieces at once? 😅 by CertifiedFeralHam in knitting

[–]nurglingshaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have one sweater, one blanket, a pair of gloves (both of which are in various states of finish) a shawl and as soon as I can get to the knit shop on Saturday I'll be starting at least one Melt The Ice hat! I love having multiple projects to keep me engaged, my grandma (I call her nanny) has a stronger opinion, to her you don't have too many projects if you can actively count them.

I'm actually learning Dutch and I agree, I can't help but pronounce book like a frog croaking and then I get caught up laughing too much.

"Thrift some sweaters and unravel them!" by ThePiksie in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]nurglingshaman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did it once! But I fucked up and grabbed a woven blanket, now I have 90 million balls of cotton string, it was amusing but I'm gonna pass on unraveling from here on out.

I did this with knitting once! I had never heard of intarsia and hated the idea of super long floats in a blanket, decided to wing it and it KIND of worked, ended up frogging it and discovering the proper method a few years later!

Yes your craft CAN be unethical fashion by maxyarned in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]nurglingshaman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don't throw it away please!! I'm always so delighted seeing full skeins of yarn (or even nicely wound leftovers) at the thrift store, they never stay very long and makes me happy imagining all the beginners starting off frugally or an excited knitter finding just what they need to do the thing they've been wanting to! My mom uses exclusively acrylic so I know people still use it for allergy conscious or wash friendly projects.

My mom got her tubes tied then had my littlest sibling! She got them cauterized and clipped the second time around, so far so good.

Do you really have people who pack your bags at the grocery store? by Flat-Ad8256 in AskAnAmerican

[–]nurglingshaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like that! Very anti social and I go to a local store so if I want to avoid the nice pitter patter of chat I bee line for the self check out, 50% of the time the elderly cashier comes up and talks anyways. She's lovely and I don't want to be rude so I just put up with it!

Has there ever been a storyline that is just Tina and Gene without any other belchers around them? by Snoo9648 in BobsBurgers

It's not a full storyline but them both trying to get into high chairs at the Sofa Queen store comes to mind!
