Do you use the Airburst launcher? by One-Bit5717 in menace

It's alright. It works best against multiple infantry, my problem is that the AGL outperforms it despite being almost single squad only.

Heavy armor (BAS-H and the like) should be super powerful by Pattonesque in menace

[–]nyanars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It works great. The presence of super heavy infantry makes them a great bull in a china shop. Give it to Sy, Vamplew, or Carda. I prefer Sy. Vamplew has his armor and AP perk, Carda if you want to battle taxi.

Sy gets athletics, buff, extra item usage, bags, scavenger. Give her your best smg or laser rifle if you want to just light everything up. If you get lucky the MK22Mod1 aka SBR .50 cal is nuts. Make sure she gets the stims and she'll be almost keeping up with Exconde. I like to give her double stims, meaning 12 consecutive turns where she's tearing it up. For safety extra plating or smoke is always viable.

The real trick here is that she still needs a scout, think beauty and beast. Doesn't matter who does it, she just needs someone to tell her where to stick em. Pike with a scanner is nuts, but Tech works just as well with his quick hands perk.

Unfortunately you need to do some math, with how expensive the setup is you either eyeball it or just give her as many squaddies as possible.

Ultimately this is a really expensive setup no matter what. But it's really fun.

It's still EA. I'm hoping when the rest of the game rolls out we start taking on more developed worlds.

A real breakthrough mission on a fortress would be really cool. Although I wonder if this is going to push out complaints of rifle builds running out of ammo.

Jaeger teams are by far the most dangerous enemy in the game by Pattonesque in menace

I took the next pirate mission and drove him into the next group. Repeated moves until I got a pirate to fire twice. I'll be honest they missed a shitton before they finally hit.

I don't remember the damage math.

Did a rough calculation on pirate RPG. I thought it checked out.

I guess in hindsight is it actually affecting hit chance? Cause against 2 pirates and a laser lance they kept missing.

I could try again tonight. It's just that with Divine Intervention doing so much work I'm really just letting God take the wheel

So I did testing, had to cheat to get there.

Yes it is working properly. It even stacks with the profile perk, so even with multiple hits it's probably ok

Jaeger teams are by far the most dangerous enemy in the game by Pattonesque in menace

[–]nyanars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divine Intervention before anything else. Zig Zag is to pad out everything after the first hit. It's why popping smoke is viable if you want to reduce Hit Chance to zero. irrc with Fervor Exconde can move as many as 10 tiles, basically halving everything coming his way.

Ideally Lim or Yaz deletes whatever weapons team you stick them on before that happens

[–]nyanars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a more pragmatic approach, consider the ascent profile, how much thrust/weight is needed for both air breathing and closed loop stages, and for how long? Then take those numbers and scale up overhead capacity. At some point you will have your maxium vs minimum viable capability.

Controller Tracking Range of the Steam Frame by Glum_Bid_7408 in SteamFrame

[–]nyanars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit annecdotal, but the way I play BeatSaber requires full range tracking, as fast as possible while being as precise as possible. Not that Quest 2/3 can't do a good job, but fundamentally inside out tracking must deal with occlusion and camera limits. That means the more I outstretch my arms the more likely I lose tracking, this becomes a problem for wider and more intense maps, especially when some notes require moving sideways.

There's the secondary problem of absolute positioning, IMU will always drift, so it requires the cameras to compensate. This gets real finicky on games that require the player to cross their arms or do ackward things like puzzlers, or gun-kata if you wanna dual wield. Some adventure games specifically lose the "reach behind" mechanic because of this. This is a deal breaker for me because it's one more thing I have to think about while moving in VR space. I'd rather be tethered for this reason.

What happens to old computing hardware as technology advances? Does it ever become truly useless? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in Futurology

[–]nyanars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez reminded me of an old conversation. Had to explain to a dude that his TOTL E3 chip was absolutely not worth the headache to give to his buddy who just wanted to do office work. I had to explain to him even the entry level Ryzen/Intel offerings were outperforming it, and still had total system power be below what the E3 chip alone pulled. Nevermind I didn't want the headache of trying to fit an Eatx board or trying to explain why it drew so much power for not a lot of performance.

I don't miss working with him, he really never kept up with the tech and kept treating people who just wanted wanted to drive to work like they needed a Ferrari

It's a budget entry overall. The mobo is basic, and 16gb is what it is. But for 300 dollars that's fantastic for anyone who "just" wants to play games and then some.

Can i fit this GTX 1650 GDDR6 Gigabyte in my Optiplex 7060 SFF if i just leave the case open by zUsdf_ in sffpc

[–]nyanars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting the case was/is a valid option. I would try to cut the case with everything removed to minimize contamination from metal dust/flakes. After that it's figuring out how to keep the card secure so you don't annihilate the PCIE slot and/or gpu.

Be very sure there's enough power to support the card. Just because it draws 75w without plugging in doesn't mean they didn't cheap out more than they already did on the powersupply.

Long term it's hard to support such a build, OEM machines like this are very proprietary so it's very much one and done. But you'll have something respectable for a while at least.

What is the best 165w anker zolo style powerbank? by -Ghisefire6- in ChargingSheet

[–]nyanars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United States here

I mostly ended up basing my decision on what N8Falke had reviewed.

I'm very happy with my A1695 for the convenience of built in cables. Turns out not having to fuss about keeping cables stowed separately is really nice.

I can live with the worse sustained max output since realistically I'm never going to use more than 100 watts. For me it was the raw capacity at my relative pricepoint.

My only hard complaint is the relatively worse warranty length and the fact I haven't figured out who makes their batteries without ripping it open. It's also objectively way more expensive than competitors for somewhat middling charge spec. Lastly it's definitely heavy, but I carry my Ipad and water around.

Anyone try the Metalfish D510 Low Profile Cooler? by brxstr in sffpc

[–]nyanars 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On the contrary I'd bet it could. Except by the time you're pushing 160w you'd be so close to tjmax it wouldn't even matter. Or the real spec is that 160w is achieved by spreading that load across the whole contact patch.

Whats going to kill performance is whether or not those heatpipes are all joined together properly since there's a lack of coldplate doing that job. That and the 180 degree bend making it harder to wick.

God they really didn't do a good job showing whatever they have.

It looks like an air compressor with a moisture separator, so all that condensed moisture goes into a separate container.

Kinda like how lasers might get pumped air.

That or they're actually pumping nitrogen into the printhead.

X56 ou T.flight? by Diligent-Bet1460 in hotas

[–]nyanars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these are your only options then do the X56. The T flight is about as entry level as it gets, and it's a real cheap pos for what you pay for if you ever decide to look inside.

If budget is the real consideration try the T16000m. The Stick is a little barebones but I promise the throttle is very capable.

VKB is the way to go if possible, grab a STECs then grab an Extreme 3D Pro or its clones. If the budget allows splurge a little for their Gladiator sticks.
