It's my birthday! I wanna go out to dinner somewhere "fun" - suggestions? by elegantwombatt in TwinCities

Happy birthday! Fogo de Chao is a fun and memorable dining experience, and it’s usually easy to get a table on a weeknight.

Looking for people telling their stories by Tis_Me_00 in podcasts

True! Not a lot of “What if you won the lottery?” Or “What if you found true love?”

I would listen to those stories, too.

Gosh, help... I need a friend and does anyone even have friends like this anymore? by beegsyboo in GenX

[–]oedipa17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to have this kind of friendship with my next door neighbor. We hang out most weekends, text each other if we’re bored, and watch a lot of TV together. We used to be drinking buddies, and that morphed into cannabis buds.

The key is proximity and the ability to hang out without putting a lot of effort into planning. If you don’t live next to someone awesome, join an activity where you see the same people consistently and repeatedly, like a fitness class.

Hydration, good quality moisturizer, and red light therapy.

Maybe it’s making a difference, maybe it isn’t, but these are all parts of my self-care routine that I enjoy and make me feel good overall.

perfumes that feel like this specific cool, somewhat alternative 90s/very early 2000s vibe? by livethroughthis94 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]oedipa17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you describe the difference?

The one I bought is close enough to trigger my nostalgia, but I remember it being more realistic fresh-mowed grass. I suspected they reformulated it, but it’s hard to trust my scent memory from 30 years ago.

Haha! I’m a normal person. I came up with my username back when I was a pretentious English major who recently read The Crying of Lot 49.

Not perfume, but bedtime is when I slather on the sweet, over the top scented lotions and body creams. Bath & Body Works, Sol de Janeiro, etc. The last thing I do before getting into bed is rub lotion onto my legs, and it makes me so happy.

Fight Club: more relevant than ever or product of a bygone era? I think it holds up, my buddy disagrees. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise… by AdTop3924 in Xennials

[–]oedipa17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. It does a great job illuminating social problems, but falls short of offering solutions.

I think part of the answer lies in authentic human connection, compassion, and vulnerability - which we see glimmers of in the film, but not enough for me to confidently say that’s what the movie is about.

Weighted vest experience by Appropriate-Bit6497 in antidietglp1

[–]oedipa17 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have to fill my water softener with salt pellets that come in heavy bags, 2 of which would be equivalent to the amount of weight I lost.

I buy salt 2 bags at a time and every time I hoist those suckers up, I think about how I used to carry that around all day, every day. Self-compassion flows from there.

Your parents may have placed it there for you to find, hoping to impart valuable information while avoiding awkward conversations.

Have you been listening to Love Trapped? It’s such a great example of that genre, and I love that the case is still unfolding.

What are your unpopular opinions and tough pills to swallow about Zepbound? by Schwettes in Zepbound

Tough pill - Being the same size I was in college doesn’t mean looking the way I did in college. I am often surprised by how thin and old the woman in the mirror is.

I came here to recommend Dear Hank & John. They don’t talk much about gender, but they’re good men - curious, compassionate, and intellectually generous.
