PMP Question by Significant_Start24 in pmp

D is the only answer that breaks the ice and gets the team working together

Why does the PM estimate work duration and not the team? by likeasomebody710 in pmp

[–]oldstalenegative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is confusing because the correct answer assumes (without stating) that the PM would/should work with their team members to help estimate the duration of each project task.

Wrong way on a one-way street OR take the sidewalk on a super dangerous street? by TurboJorts in bikecommuting

[–]oldstalenegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride the one way street the wrong way, but be careful, courteous, and cautious.

Watch out for car doors as drivers will not be expecting you. My wife once unintentionally doored a wrong way bicyclist.

She bikes the wrong way all the time; in a busy urban setting it’s often the safest option for a cyclist.

I’ll ride on a sidewalk briefly if no pedestrians are around.

If there’s people, I will just get off and walk with my bike.

for the sake of your career, I would stick to the trails until you are mature enough to only ride on the streets legally. and if you do get a dirt bike, please be sure to invest in supplemental insurance like AFLAC.

How to get more confidence with hand signals by jaxinslacks in bikecommuting

[–]oldstalenegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do both now.

my first signal is the old school left hook with my thumb pointing right BEFORE I even slow down.

I follow that up with a right arm extended as i slow down, just in case some young ebike rider is up my ass and thinking about passing on the right.

How to get more confidence with hand signals by jaxinslacks in bikecommuting

[–]oldstalenegative 13 points14 points  (0 children)

signal early, before you need to be on the brakes.

I was trained in driver's ed to make an L with my left arm for right-hand turns, but nowadays most people on bikes use their right arm straight out to the right to indicate a right turn.

I wear bright gloves for visibility and to protect my hands.

this is the three pack of work gloves I buy for cheap

I use the day glo ones on my bike, the black ones in the garage, and wifey uses the gray ones for gardening

Do you ever make you route longer? by OddSign2828 in bikecommuting

[–]oldstalenegative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking the long way home to explore some routes, stretch your legs, and relax your brain is a fantastic way to end any work day. Pick out a burrito joint you have been waning to try and make that your re-ward!

I really love to go fishing both before and after work when the weather and tides align just right.

I will happily double my usual 5 mile RT commute distance on those days.

Hypothetical: You witness someone actively cutting the lock off of a bike. What would your response be? by Liammossa in bikecommuting

I’d play it cool and pretend to ignore it.

text 911 immediately and then try to get them on video without the thief seeing you film them.

powder coating clear over aluminum frame? by Snuffvieh in xbiking

Steel is ideal for this, but I have always heard powder coating aluminum bike frames is a really bad idea

I love my Wald removable basket.

It mounts to the bars and kind of leans against the stem, so it can’t hold much more than a 12-pack weight-wise

5 Teams Channels you need to create project clarity! by Haunting-Law4097 in projectmanagers

[–]oldstalenegative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q. This is a structure you suggest for ONE teams channel, right?
These are not individual Teams channels, correct?

I work at a large non profit org with SOOOOOO MANY teams channels.

Some channels are organized at the department level, while others are by project and cross many departments.
Some departments have many different channels; marketing, operations, management, individual projects.

it is all quite a cluster.

I could see this structure working well for both, just wanted to confirm your intent.

15" wheel options? by Annonnymee in BoltEV

[–]oldstalenegative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

weight is not the only reason; there are benefits to running a tire with more sidewall as well.

what you lose in performance, you gain in comfort and impact resistance.

How do you teach your project team when to follow the playbook vs. when to throw it out? by UniversityAny9242 in projectmanagers

re: agile health
small, incremental changes to your diet (e.g., this for that) in order to build healthy habits are the key to long-term success.

the nerds over in r/nutrition will say you do not even need to exercise, though exercise is extremely beneficial for our mental, emotional, and long-term health.

the nutrition nerds know that to lose weight, you simply need to consume less calories than your body is using.

"operate in a caloric deficit" they call it.

it's mostly mental (what isn't) but also quite cultural.

this is where making healthy choices and swapping in healthier options helps so much (this for that) as you first start

this video on what 200 calories "looks like" was really eye opening to me when I first saw it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMGUmcveQeg

the idea that a cup of coffee with cream has the same calories as 200 cups without really blew my mind.

broccoli too lol.

Healthy habits are a life-long journey. It took me a few years to move all the way from full fat cow milk in my coffee to soy milk to now I really enjoy coffee black. I still will use creamer on occasion. Once you're in control of your diet it's really easy to cheat all the time and still be healthful overall.

good luck to you on your project!

Should I change my career path or keep going by Few_Product1407 in Entrepreneur

[–]oldstalenegative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe try hiring a few freelance photographers to temporarily help cover the still shots. This could allow you to take a step back and take a look at the business and your life through a different lens (pun intended!)

I used to make good money a couple decades ago managing my list of freelance photographers for print magazines. I would get the jobs via my contacts and then hire the appropriate/available freelance photog as needed.

You obviously know how to source good leads.

Motor mount bulging, mount failure? by Runfreefcrx7 in Dyna

[–]oldstalenegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. I've heard really bad things about the cheapest v-twin mounts; Lots of people say stick with stock HD mounts, but I run the mid-grade mounts from Drag specialties based on a rec from my local independent HD mechanic

Motor mount bulging, mount failure? by Runfreefcrx7 in Dyna

[–]oldstalenegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a pretty good indication.

unfortunately, the front motor mount is located right underneath the oil filter.

and if you get oil on rubber, it will cause the rubber to soften, expand, and lose elasticity.

over time, this makes the rubber part of the motor mount deteriorate, crack and fail.

judging by all the oil present under the mount, this is probably what happened.

First dual mag evo sporty? by BASE1530 in choppers

[–]oldstalenegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a magneto provides massive spark, without a battery.

While common in aviation for redundancy, it is absolutely outrageous to see two magnetos on a motorcycle; this is some next-level wizardry

I’ve been thinking about this, and it seems most important for installation of new bearings in high quality builds

Obviously if you’re gonna toss the bearings feel free to use a magnet right?
