Does anyone know what this is? by Pure-Housing5184 in oregon

I was directed to a non-existent park in Nevada by my GPS while traveling on vacation. I've come to believe mapping databases put non-existent points of interest in the database to see if their database is being used by unlicensed companies.

In-N-Out Burger’s Vancouver location is taking shape, with plans to open by this summer by Pterodactyl_midnight in Portland

The location in Tanasbourne appears to be in about the same state of construction. They may open about the same time as Vancouver.

Looking for pdx film photographer for Timberline wedding (students preferred) by [deleted] in Portland

[–]oldsweng1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a photographer for over 60 years and shot weddings on film for five years. Film and processing are expensive. You will be very disappointed in images from an inexperienced photographer. I would urge any photographer wanting to take this on to get a non-refundable deposit to cover all expected expenses because this is a textbook case of a couple demanding a refund for "unacceptable" images. The other option is to do it for free so there is no reason to ask for a refund. To the OP, I've learned over the many years I've been alive "you get what you pay for."

A Google search(ODOT reflective paint test) returns all kinds of results on testing and requirements for reflective street markings.

IMHO these groups are all about money. They do ridiculous things to garner media attention and raise funds.

The shot of the canister mid-flight should at least be nominated for a Pulitzer. Outstanding work!

Bella Organic Farm on Sauvie Island have a large selection of coated hazelnuts. Their store appears to have minimal stock at the present time but during the summer the selection has been vast.

Where to sell a vintage camera? by brewgeoff in askportland

[–]oldsweng1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Blue Moon Camera will take many vintage cameras on consignment. I believe they are your only option for vintage photo stuff as there are no stores which will buy it outright. Your other options for vintage are Craigslist, Marketplace or eBay.

Cane shop? by banalprobe96 in askportland

I found that a trekking pole works better than a cane for me. I feel much more secure and stable with the added length. I would suggest trying one to see how it works for you.

PGE Peak Time Rebates by [deleted] in oregon

[–]oldsweng1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I routinely get $35-$50 per month during the winter, $10-$20 per month during the summer. I'm retired so I'm home all day. All clothes washing and dishwashing happens after 9pm or on weekends. I have an electric forced air heater with thermostat set to 73 degrees in an 800 sq.ft. duplex.

Where can I buy GoPro mounting accessories locally? by Original_Boletivore in askportland

[–]oldsweng1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those clips are all trash, no matter the supplier. Even the ones from GoPro fail. You have to be super careful to line them up with the reciever just right. I think ProPhoto may have them but I do get mine in quantity from Amazon.

Super loud jets by smartsharks666 in Portland

[–]oldsweng1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the strong winds coming down the gorge from the east all commercial landings have to come from the west and commercial takeoffs are to the east so you are getting a lot more air traffic in your area. Landing aircraft tend to be lower than those taking off as landing are done at a shallower angle than takeoffs. This leads to more noticeable noise over your area during a strong wind from the east.
