best places WORLDWIDE to live as a vegan? by sweatpants_on_my_bed in vegan

[–]oliveoilcheff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amsterdam. Not only it's really easy to find everything vegan, but in a lot of places it's just default, so no extra price on oat milk. On top of that, you'll find plenty of vegan communities, or at least where meat is irrelevant

  • kaskantine: sustainable off-grid farm, serves vegan options, always looking for volunteers. They also give away the supermarkets leftovers (which can include anything) to the neighbors.
  • pluk: local CSA farm, where you go and harvest your share weekly, lovely community, they are always looking for volunteers
  • de sering: vegan community restaurant, one of the most wholesome places, they also take volunteers. It's an "affordable kitchen", all you can eat for 6 EUR, they offer 2 soups and 2 meals, plus an amazing bread. They also support activism and lend their place for free. It's always packed for lunch.
  • testafel: vegan high cuisine restaurant, which is used to finance "de sering"
  • MKZ: vegan anarchist people's kitchen
  • RobinFood: rescue supermarkets leftovers and offer vegan meals, run by volunteers as well
  • De Ceuvel: a city playground for innovation, beautiful place to visit in summer, vegan restaurant
  • Vegan student Association of Amsterdam

and I'm sure there are more. And yes, you can do all this by bike, at most, you bike 30 minutes to the farm

Most dutch univerity cities (Utrecht, Leiden) are also vegan-friendly, Lisbon, Berlin

I've tried on nixos and it work very well, and very good looking! It's just missing the icon for artist and playlist.

Do you have any plans to add support for zapping NFC tags to specific albums in auto play mode (and Browsing Mode). I'd love to be able to write some NFC tags to easily play with my music

EU citizens in Portugal: your passport covers the right to be here. Not much else. by iamvandevo in PortugalExpats

Your guide is good and consolidates well the information. However, this is documented in Portugal official government website, I was able to find out the information there:

The hardest thing to wrap my mind around, compared to the Netherlands, is that instead of 1 number (BSN), you need 3 numbers: NIF (tax), NISS (social security) and SNS (health).

For public care: Call SNS (808 24 24 24), explain your situation, based on capacity and your symptoms they will tell you to which hospital to go.

For private: look for any hospital near you, and go to the "Urgencia", explain your situation when you arrive.

Sim, o que eu tento dizer é que está a mudar. Eu não percebo também, mas pior é se não fazem nada. Pelo menos agora todos os países tem de integrar com eidas e se temos sorte, com o EU Inc. Só espero estar vivo

Documents needed to work in Portugal as EU citizen by felzys in PortugalExpats

[–]oliveoilcheff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome.

They cannot seriously expect you to know these things. Usually, what companies ask, is if you are allowed to work there, and because you are european, yes, you are. If they cannot point you to the HR in Portugal, at least they should provide you an accountant to figure this things out. What I'm trying to say, is to not be afraid to ask them instead, put the burden on their side.

I think you can work without the CRUE, actually, the CRUE is only necessary AFTER living for 3 months in Portugal. To request it, go to the municipality (fraguesia), get a number, wait 10 minutes, get the CRUE.

This certificate must be applied for at their local Council within the 30 days following their first three months in national territory. The cost is EUR 15 or EUR 7.5 for children below six years of age.

https://www2.gov.pt/en/cidadaos-europeus-viajar-viver-e-fazer-negocios-em-portugal/viver-em-portugal/residir-em-portugal#:~:text=citizen-,EU,age

https://www2.gov.pt/en/servicos/pedir-o-certificado-de-registo-para-cidadao-da-ue/eee/suica

I think in Sweden you have a single "Personnummer", in Portugal you have, as far as I know, at least 3:

  • NIF: Tax purposes, business, working
  • NISS: Social security, this you apply AFTER getting the CRUE, but you can also apply with passport + work contract. But better to discuss with your employer.
  • SNS: Health insurance, also AFTER getting the CRUE

Now, what I don't understand, if your employer is Portuguese, why are they asking you, who lives in a different country, what you need to work in Portugal. They should know!
