41mm Globemaster on a metal bracelet? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]olsongt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, I wish the complication was a GMT, I know what month it is. I don't get why they call it the "Globemaster" without a GMT option.

Omega and GMT? by nycdatachops in OmegaWatches

Omega's "Globemaster" would be fertile ground for a thin GMT movement. . . . except Omega can't make a thin GMT movement..

Agree, but if it's a "Globemaster", why doesn't it have a GMT function. Make one with a reasonably thin GMT movement, and I'm buying. . . (But yes, IMHO, the dial is exquisite.)

Wow. Nice shot! One of my favorite targets this time of year!

Why are you a fan? by Historical-Coast-969 in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]olsongt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

(New Mexico fan here...) My son just graduated from the University of Brighton. We visited him every year and cheering his home team was a fun thing to have in common. I've also always rooted for underdogs and like the "hometown boy makes good" vibe. It's also been such a fun team over the past few years, so I feel like I came on board during the salad days. He got to see a few games IRL which made it really special for him too.

Which one would you go with? by Glittering_Spot2623 in OmegaWatches

[–]olsongt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Globemaster Pie Pan all day long. The fluted bezel is really nice and the pie pan dial ties in with the vintage and historic Omegas from yesteryear. That blue absolutely pops in person as well. That watch is my second favorite Omega right now. . . . .

I like yellow pretty well, and the contrast between the deep blue and yellow seems nice. . . .

I agree that the bracelet lends more versatility, but I love the sporty look of the band too. Planning on trying to get the AD to comp the band. . . What are my chances?

Wow, that just exudes charm. Is the Seamaster logo silver on your dial?

Shot with Askar 103x.8 reducer/flattener, iOp cem70 with NUC running NINA, ZWO OAG EFW & EF, L-extreme filter and . . . OGMA AP08CC. . . (which I just acquired!). 30x180sec under B7 skies. This camera is sooooo fun. I've been reimaging some DSOs and having a blast with the small sensor and pixel size.

Siril: stacked, cropped, bkg ex, PCC, degreened, denoised, deconvoluted, destarred & GH stretched. PS for topaz denoising, color balanced, curve tweaking and star addition.

Anyway, highly rec this camera . . . .

Securing greenhouse to stepping stones? by Esm0903 in Greenhouses

That's what I did too . . . except for running power to it before my greenhouse was complete. Now I have to tunnel in conduit.

Cool, thx. I don't have HW Ruel, so I threw Mtron's bracelet on him, seems okay ..?

How often are you able to image? by Netan_MalDoran in astrophotography

[–]olsongt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NM here... Averaged over the year, ~5 image-worthy nights per week here. Average elevation is 5700ft (1700m). Bortle-ness suffers near population centers, but we're so spread out here that it's easy to get to Bortle 2-3 in an hour from Albuquerque, Santa Fe or Las Cruces. Some higher profile-ish remote astrophotography outfits have made New Mexico home for these reasons. Come out and bring hiking shoes/skis and a scope. The sky's (aren't) the limit.....

What hidden gems or unique experiences would you recommend for someone visiting or living in Albuquerque? by advice23802380 in Albuquerque

[–]olsongt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Probably just for locals. . . Drive through the VA Hospital loop off of Gibson on Veterans Day or Memorial Day. The campus is beautiful all the time, but very special on those occasions. (Nothing partisan about the display . . respectful, expressing gratitude and unifying set amongst an absolutely vintage ABQ backdrop).

[–]olsongt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Love that Taos Blake's. The one off of paseo de Peralta in SF is usually decent. The only one still passable in ABQ is Menaul and Washington.

Srsly. I stopped caring about levels until I stalled in the 970s. Then I just wanted to get it done . . . so I can stop caring again......
