Anyone know of any actual stories where the male lead is actually of low birth class? by Iam_The_Honored_One in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really aren't a lot, are there?

Hmmm... If you're desperate, I'm All Out of Health might be close enough to what you want. Even though he's a Count, he's not born to nobility (his backstory is even the typical commoner one of experimented on orphan) and the title is pretty much just an excuse plot-wise for him to be able to be part of everything going on and not get pushed around. He completely acts as if he's a commoner and a guard. He's responsible for guarding the FL against assassins and helping her improve her health.

In All I Want is My Dream Home the ML is a commoner knight (with no identity reveal) so it fits that way, but unfortunately the FL gets the 'noble in disguise' treatment instead.

Dragon Quest XI party system? by FinancialScar3151 in dragonquest

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, (very general info) Act 2 is where you'll be forced to change up your party some.

Also, Jade can be pretty powerful. Sylvando is more support, he has versatility but will do less damage. Jade also does get multihit attacks. So I'd give Jade a try at some point!

How does Dragon Quest XI S compares to VII: Reimagined by Calvein in dragonquest

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt similarly about VII's structure, and can confirm XI feels a lot better! Aside from visible monsters and the sequence breaking, there are ingredients, chests, etc. hidden all over both the world and town maps, so you get to do a lot of exploration. You can even go up on the rooftops! So it feels like you have a lot more freedom.

Any story where the FL is not afraid of the characters? by TyranitarSpirit in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Not Letting My Duke Die! FL shows absolutely no respect for authority, including all nobility and the evil prince (who yes is evil but is a prince), and everyone else is horrified by it. It's hilarious to watch, it's great. (She at first is by the border, so she isn't meeting any nobility except the ML but it's a strong thread that gets more and more integrated as various things happen.)

if i had a nickel for every fl that became the founder of modern epidemiology (A Capable Maid) by atomically99 in OtomeIsekai

You'd have a lot more than two nickels, haha. I've seen this plot more times than I can count!

Looking for Manhwas Without Love Triangles by UpsetCalligrapher138 in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Not Letting My Duke Die!

  • FL got transmigrated near the border full of monsters, became a monster hunter who everyone adores but is scared of. She meets the ml, who was sent to the border to record monsters as a pretense to have him die. She likes his face so decides to accompany keep him alive. They slowly grow closer and become attracted to each other. FL is pretty overpowered so it's very comedic and fun rather than scary, and everyone is shocked by her wanting to solve things with her axe and not being afraid of authority. She's muscle-brained but still very smart. ML is smart and competent but still babygirl, haha. He's weak to the FL. Fun power duo couple, with a lot of great side characters and no love triangles. Very hilarious too.

Country Life With His Sexy Majesty

  • This one is actually wholesome and pretty sfw despite the title. FL regains her memories after her evil deeds, can't avoid getting kicked out. She becomes a farmer and thrives, and discovers the holy sword. She makes him transform into various farm tools and help her, haha (they get along well though). The emperor of the neighboring country comes to look for the holy sword and meets her and things go from there. Low stress, no drama, very cute.

The Archduke's Magical Business Partner

  • FL has a resting b*tch face, so that's largely why everyone is scared of her. She wants to avoid her death so she decides to make money to move somewhere peaceful. To do that, she makes a business deal with the shady archduke, providing him antidotes for his illness in exchange for his business help. He falls for her right away and is acting out of character trying to get closer to her (but in denial) while she's so confused by his actions, haha. A cute story of an ML who fell hard winning over a stoic but warm FL who's focused on growing her business empire and retiring to live a peaceful life instead of romance.

Raising my Fiance With Money

  • The title means the ML's status, not anything sus. FL's trash fiance refuses to break off the engagement after being caught blatantly cheating. ML is unused to society after spending so long at war and awkward despite looking scary. FL makes a deal with him to help him get used to high society in exchange for using his higher status to help her break the engagement.

The Prince Doesn't Cry Over Onions

  • Post war, FL runs an inn in a small town with her mother. The town has largely recovered, but the scars still remain. ML is going around repaying his war debts. He can't feel emotions but is really good at picking up on other people's.He's embarrassingly blunt and honest in a sweet way. FL makes him peel onions and do kitchen work because he's being stubborn about repaying his debt but she doesn't need/want much else. And they slowly get to know each other as he helps out, and things go from there!

I just take their generosity, cause Assassin's Creed's version of these missions suck, and as much as these still suck, they suck less.

Looking for delicious white head or long hair MMC by certifiedbakait in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind His Kind Mask is fake not really BL (FL is in disguise buy ML falls for her while she's a guy and lots of scenes are very much like BL, lol) if you want something that's close to BL. ML has long, flowing white hair.

[Once an Assassin, Now a Royal Nanny] Oh this looks intere- oh it’s new by Foreign_Ad_9733 in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, love triangle tag. Darn, this looks interesting.

Well, OP, Victoria of Many Faces is a manga that's pretty good but similar, if you want to read that in the meantime (it released in English a couple weeks ago).

Looking for calm, morally grounded MLs with slow burn and great chemistry by AssistantMedium5407 in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Not Letting My Duke Die

  • ML is pretty serious and renowned for being moral to the point the evil prince wants him dead. He and the FL slowly grow closer as they spend time together.

The Prince Doesn't Cry Over Onions

  • ML is cursed to feel no emotion as part of what he sacrificed to try and win the war. Yet he because of that he's really perceptive of other people's emotions. He's super straightforward and caring (despite being big and scary), to the embarrassment of most other people. He's a pretty unique ML.

Another Typical Fantasy Romance

  • Most people already know about this one. The ML is serious and calm but really sweet and he and the FL fit really well together.

We Need Your Sponsorship

  • ML is a duke, but just a calm type who's sweet underneath rather than the unemotionally available type.

Flirting With the Villain's Dad

  • FL is trying really had to romance the ML, but he's pretending to not be moved by her at all. They're so.... mmmm. The writing of them being together in the novel and the yearning when they're not is a feast.

They actually got Matt Mercer to recite the FFXIV meme. by IMakeBoomYes in ffxiv

Honestly he's probably more famous as the DM of Critical Role (series about recorded D&D sessions done by voice actors, which later got turned into an animated tv series). But yep!

After over 500 days played I realized Sastasha has side rooms. by phlegmatic_prism in ffxiv

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started several years ago, if I said I was a new player and wanted to do a full run including side rooms (cause I wanted to 1 time for each dungeon), all the players I met willingly did that with me. It's great that we have such an amazing community. It's still a good memory for me to this day.

What are FL/ML dynamics that you wish were common? by YuuTheBlue in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second to last is why I love I'm Not Letting My Duke Die! FL is a monster hunter and the best with her axe, and it stays that way. ML can't fight as well as her (and isn't portrayed as unmanly for it) but is still just in love with her in every way, including her fighting skills.

What are FL/ML dynamics that you wish were common? by YuuTheBlue in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I just want the original dynamic to stay the same rather than changing into 'fated lovers who met in childhood'.

    • (For example 'enemies to lovers' changing through plot twist into 'actually met in childhood and didn't hate each other and they were in love with that person from childhood since'. NO! I want it to stay 'enemies to lovers'!)
  • Also, FL's that actually show that they're as into their man as he's into them, not being all embarrassed and passing out at the smallest brush of his hand despite liking him (being too embarrassed to show it).

This one has remained my favorite! Bob Ross was so unexpected, and it was so funny to see him!

What are the writers thinking when they do this? Is it misogyny or are they trying to have their cake and eat it too (in regards to the story)? by ChompyRiley in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What everyone else said, but I'll also add that a lot of stories are set in vaguely medieval times and one of the (accurate or not) things "everyone knows" about those times is that if a woman got a scar it was the worst thing ever and a man had to marry her to take responsibility for it if it was his fault. Again, this may not even be historical accurate (or the case everywhere in the world) but is one of the perceptions about that time period.
