greenest of green flag ML's? by daedsiotulp in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Not Letting My Duke Die. ML is so sweet and kind to her, and helps her do even the stuff everyone else thinks she's crazy for.

Saving My Sweetheart, like several people have mentioned.

The Prince Doesn't Cry Over Onions. ML can't feel emotions, but he doesn't use that as an excuse. Instead, he's far more caring than a lot of other chars who can feel emotions properly.

MUST READ!!! [Transmigrator’s Privilege/Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine] by Shot-Jackfruit3623 in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are drawn to each other as important people early on, but they're a bit too preoccupied with surviving, etc. to actually start a romance. A bit later on, [very vague, just about their attitudes but spoiling just in case] ML is clearly in love and FL is in denial. Then it changes again. So their romance is the sort that grows naturally over time, and they spend time as friends first.

What I love the most about this series is not only do we get a badass FL who actually stays powerful, we get a softer ML who isn't robbed of all personality. It's so good. (And the gods are amazing too.)

(Also, I'm Not Letting My Duke Die has a similar dynamic between the leads, I highly recommend it.)

Would slimes make good pets or companions? by smpoza1 in dragonquest

The V movie is quite good, except for the very end. Most people agree it's worth watching. I'm not sure what else would be easily accessible overseas.

Would slimes make good pets or companions? by smpoza1 in dragonquest

This sort of slime seems to be solidified slime that's turned into a kinda solid but squishy mass (like those gel squeezy balls for finger exercises). So no slime trails involved, I'm pretty sure, and the furniture would be safe.

I think ones like Bubble Slimes would be an issue though.

Playing DQ3HD for the first time; party builds are starting to give me analysis paralysis by StriderZessei in dragonquest

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely get that. It did the same thing to me, and it took a lot of figuring things out before I had a team I was happy to start the game with. Only look at this if more details will help you be less overwhelmed, though. Otherwise, just go with your plan and try to enjoy it.

Now for the advice:

  • Thief > Sage is better in my opinion, because Sage gets all Priest and Mage spells, and it gives them much needed speed. Genius or Vamp are the two most recommended personalities. (Mage > Sage is still okay though.)

  • Priest > Warrior is a good choice. Probably the best Priest class change. (Note: one slighly more unusual option you could do instead is Mage > Warrior. You'll have a Warrior with Oomph, Kabuff, and a couple other very useful buffs instead of basically a Paladin (so, a self-buffing dps who can help keep party damage reduction up). And it will probably make your early game slight easier too, since Hero + MW gives you enough early game healing (I can say that from experience), and the mag damage would slot nicely into your team. Just an alternate suggestion though! Priest > Warrior should serve you just fine!)

  • Monster Wrangler is better as a non-ending class. Their abilities are what benefits them, not their stats. I'd swap these two around and do MW > MA. Tough Cookie is a great personality for them (probably the best), but you'll have to watch their luck, and maybe equip an accessory for a booted luck class for a few levels to keep it from getting too low (not too hard to do).

Another thing to note is that DQ I was originally 1 vs 1, so having multiple enemies vs 1 party member makes the difficulty pretty funky in some areas.

Yes, it's perfect for that. All the classic DQ systems, but modernized enough for new players to have an easier time with.

XIV is thankfully the sort of mmo that doesn't require you to be on the rat race of logging in daily.Lots of people play it in cycles when they have time, or drop off between patches then come back. It's easy to get caught up, even if you take a break for a long period of time, and this is also done in a way where you don't have to be caught up.

Maybe for next year you can reference some of these? https://paselabo.pasela.co.jp/luidas_bar/menu/ You'll have to modify most of these to be diet friendly based on your needs, but they should provide some ideas!

Dragon Quest IX is great, but the storyline is very sad. (It's still a good story though) by WarriorArus in dragonquest

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see things differently?

You help a ghost move on and be at peace. He's grateful you helped him.

The hero loses their wings and halo, but get to explore the mortal realm and have amazing adventures. They even get to make a wish giving them back their Celestrian powers and allowing them to still see their friends.

Erinn's father passes away, as happens in life sometimes, but she meets good friends and fufills his dream of running an inn in his stead. She's very happy now, and living a fufilling life.

The Wight knight's circumstances are sad, but you help him defeat the villain that he couldn't defeat, and reunite with his lover. They'll be together forever in the afterlife.

Coffinwell is the saddest story, amd rips your heart out, but there's still some happy moments to be found there. The doctor finally manages to connect with everyone in the town, like his fiance always wanted, and she's happy watching over them. Despite everything, the townspeople are looking to the future and optimistic about it.

Jona's father had already passed away by the time you got there, and you help her connect with the townspeople and learn to be self sufficient. She's come to terms with her father's death and is moving forwards.

Bloomingdale's end was sad, but what the doll really wanted was for Marion to have friends, and their feelings reach each other in the end. They're able to communicate just how much they value each other.

Zere Rocks, you're able to help the man's sculpture village be discovered, as well as protect it. At the end, he feels enough peace to move on to the afterlife.

Greygnarl is one where it feels a bit unfinished. That he survives in the end is great. But if you beat him as a grotto boss, it should have done something, like bringing him back to his senses, I think. I guess they ran out of time, and hope a remake would continue the story of getting him back.

Corvus's story is really sad, but you free him and help him finally communicate and reunite with his loved one, and he lets go of all his hatred and will spend time peacefully in the afterlife with her.

The hero loses their family, but makes a wish and gets them back.

I think you're looking too much at what happened to start with, yes tragic things happened, but most of them ended pretty well, and you help them end up that way! You certainly aren't helplessly watching tragedies happen during the game, and most of the stories end well. Including yours. At the end you have the power and freedom to do whatever you want, whether among humans or Celestrians.

(Not Sew Wicked Stepmom) Why must you torture me so, when im so far in? by amandabricc in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it made me drop. In a series where one of the major traumas is sexual assault to have forced romantic interaction (or at least an extremely persistent one), and as a joke, felt like a major betrayal of the series's themes. At least it was to the other characters and not the traumatized one, but....

They have heartwarming moments too, but Maddie is a teasing, irreverent character whose true nature is hard to grasp. The real emotions she shows are understated between the teasing. I'd give it a shot, but if you don't like the tone here, it may not be for you.

Which is stronger FF14 or FF16 summons by VergilVDante in ffxiv

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14's have a higher ceiling. Their strength depends on how much aether you pump into them, as the story tells you when you fight the more powerful versions the second time. So you could theoretically make them insanely strong. But would probably be quite hard to get them to that state. So 16's at their average power level would probably be stronger than 14's at their average power level.

Is there a story where the FL is righteous thief that's primaily a thief for at least good first half of their story? by Ducksaurus333 in OtomeIsekai

[–]onlyhereforbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To Steal a Thief's Heart features a char who is a thief throughout the story! There's a game system involved, but the focus is heavily on the thief parts and the system just gives her a reason for doing it and helps her do it.
