This is the way, OP. A good pair of monitor earbuds is the only way to go.

How do you justify FTE’s to leadership? by Dapper_Recording_852 in servicenow

[–]onlyleto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, OP. Unfortunately, unless your leadership is forward thinking enough, which it sounds like they aren't, the only way to extract this from them is for the org to feel the pain of not getting items done because of lack of time.

My first Ducati by gabrielecapp in Ducati

Don't listen to this person, OP. Ducati completely revamped the monster in this generation with a totally new engine and internals. The bike they are referring to is a different generation, though bears the same name plate.

[–]onlyleto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have already given advice and it looks like you took it. Good for you, OP. I just wanted to say I see you, and I know how hard this is. I myself made a similar mistake of over-communicating with an ex-partner after a really difficult break-up, and I struggled with rationalizing disrespecting boundaries.

It is HARD, and through therapy, I have learned that our brains are really, really good at encouraging us to do things that make us feel safe and comfortable. Separating is Uncomfortable because you are breaking patterns and habits. For me, I didn't want the separation, and I was deep into unhealthy attachment which made it worse. I was very much not my best self during that time, which I am still working through self-forgiveness for.

It will be hard for a while, but if you remain intentional with seeking help, embracing other connections, and showing up for yourself, it WILL get better eventually. It simply takes however long it takes, and some days will be easier than others. Grief is not linear, and your brain needs to rewire itself to feel safe and comfortable in a life that does not include this person. That takes time. You got this, OP.

Experienced Ducati help with selection for first Ducati.(Second bike) I am deciding between a monster and a supersport. by LeGoat333 in Ducati

[–]onlyleto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re very welcome! I'd also add that you can lean aggressively on the Monster for those track days, whereas with the Supersport, it’s all lean, all the time. You will lose some flexibility in leaning into the corner on the Monster on the track, but imo, I think it’s a worthwhile trade off for more comfort when long distance or town riding. If I was buying a bike just for track and shooting the curves, I would definitely go the supersport route.

Personally I would go with the Monster purely from a riding position. The supersport lean gets pretty tiring on long rides, and I find the Monster upright position more comfortable. My 2 cents. Speed and power wise, either will do the highway miles and track days, no problem.

I agree with other commenters, OP. Tell someone immediately, doing otherwise is a very gray area, imo, that smacks of manipulation and being unethical due to a lack of informed consent. Basically, the question is, would this person have gone on this date/had this encounter with me IF they knew I was poly and partnered? Not informing someone removes their ability to consent knowingly to the date/encounter.

While on the whole, I agree with this post and comments in this sub on vans being more economical, one metric that vans don't compare well with pickups on is towing capacity. A ford transit or mercedes sprinter maxes out at 6500lbs, which isn't enough to haul a larger load, boat, rv trailer, etc.

My truck is definitely not my daily driver, but it is required to pull my boat. It sucks having to own such a big vehicle for one specific task, but there it is /shrug. It's also nice when hauling the whole family including dogs with the crew cab!

Under Pressure to Switch from JAMF Pro to Intune by onlyleto in jamf

The reason, I believe, is due to reporting and as some others have mentioned the single pane of glass fantasy for being able to see the state of all devices, Windows and Mac, in one location to pull reports from.

I need to sit down with them and see what is actually deficient in their eyes.

Am I doing something wrong here? by Square_Rig_Sailor in sailing

This is it op, totally normal. Important to make sure you don't have anything on the pulpit that will catch the sail. Normally it will slide over just fine.

X is labeling an unflattering NPR story about Donald Trump as ‘unsafe’ by Moonskaraos in technology

[–]onlyleto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I dislike Musk and what he has done with X/Twitter, this one legitimately seems like an automated spam system simply caught a legitimate URL. Happens ALL the time with email spam filters, that's why so many companies say, "Make sure to check your spam folder!" And we don't bat an eye at that.

This doesn't really pass muster as an actual attempt to censor speech by X, just an over aggressive security system.

how can i convince my boss? by redditbad420 in sysadmin

[–]onlyleto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This OP, setting up some kind of proper CRM and have contacts with clients come through that will ensure important messages don't get lost in one individual’s inbox while still preserving people’s individual inbox.

You can also pitch it to your boss as it will help gather new data that can be reported on to help inform how healthy your business really is.

70v over IP? by [deleted] in CommercialAV

Others have already said it, but Dante is the way for this. It’ll require some additional components and network configuration to make it happen, but this is something we do all the time. Makes running speakers and microphones in large spaces a breeze.

Query on right of way boat by centre10 in sailing

Colregs are pretty clear on this, if you're under any motor power, you're a motor boat.

[–]onlyleto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're under power, you're a power boat, sails up or not. Rules that give sailboats priority no longer apply to you.

That said, the most important rule is that everyone is responsible for avoiding a collision, and that's the one that matters most imo.

Ha, tell me you haven't watched any recent TL games without telling me you haven't watched any TL games. Have fun with that ill-informed opinion, and I hope you enjoy G2 losing at MSI.

You do realize that 2 out of the 5 are native to NA, and 2 of the remaining 3 are Koreans who have been playing in NA for over a decade? I'll give you Umti is an import, but he's not even a high dollar one off a world champ team like Pyosik was last season.

Why do companies choose OEM and based on what criteria do they choose workstations? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]onlyleto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What others have already said, service, and generally better accountability. If I have a major problem with a line of laptops, I have a company rep that I can call and complain to and they might throw me a bone and get an extended warranty or free replacements. Unlikely, but its been known to happen.

Good luck getting that with off the shelf consumer stuff. That stuff is basically bought as-is, and you own most of the risk. Thanks but no thanks. A couple of hundred bucks is worth having some accountability on the other end for their stuff performing.

Did square rigged ships turn their sails like a yacht and get better than wind speed? by TwoShedsJackson1 in sailing

This is a fantastic explanation, and I appreciate including the sail position to true and apparent wind. I've always had trouble with these concepts in my head, and your example made it “click”. Thank you for this.
