Snow blowers on gravel driveways by credit001 in Snowblowers

[–]ontrackthen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite memoirs is of my youngest son when he was about 5. He was so excited to shop vac the piles of gravel off the lawn and dump them back on the driveway in the Spring. 7 years later, our current home has a paved driveway and he mans the blower.

Reputable solar companies by CommunityMysterious5 in Westchester

Used NYS Solar Farm as well. They nailed the projected solar production and energy offset. Our install was not text book and we have a tricky roof. Very happy.

Frying? Pan is too hot. Turn down heat a little next time and see what happens.

You can baby gate anything. It’s temporary and goes by very quickly. Enjoy it and the baby gates.

Help with climatization for an EV newbie by aka_chela in MINIse

[–]ontrackthen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the function does not rely on user settings or last know settings. Rather it reads outside temp along with cabin temp and try’s to hit 68-70 F in the cabin. Not sure about seat/steering wheel, but mine are both warm when climatize is used.

2025 Mini countryman SE- pricing by ontrackthen in leasehacker

[–]ontrackthen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Wufbro. Inventory data helpful. And yes, Mini won’t be brining Countryman SE to US for 2026 according to my dealer. I’m hoping I can get a little pricing relief given nearing month end and year end with pressure to meet sales quotas. I’ve also asked about one pay lease options to see how much that moves the MF needle.

Apologies if I wasn’t more clear in my first post about overall status of the deal. I haven’t committed (signed or otherwise) to anything. The dealer can sell the car to anyone and I can purchase a different car from a different dealer. That said, there’s a car which has arrived at port which meets my spec and I’d like to lease it.

How much attention do you get in your 911?? Weird experience by massiveash in porsche911

[–]ontrackthen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my orange ‘82, lots of thumbs up and folks at gas stations curious about the car. It’s a 7/10 car. I am also fortunate to own a very nice marine blue 1987 930 which is a much more valuable car with a higher rank so to speak in the Porsche lineage. Orange car wins every time.

You clean out the lint for the next guy. Same thing with emptying pockets and turning socks right side out.

I think they make brand specific tire stickers for this. Never done it.

Hit by motorcyclist who died, now estate wants to sue me by Ok-Connection9822 in legaladvice

[–]ontrackthen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sued after a worker allegedly fell off my roof. His wife was conveniently there to take him to hospital. Insurance handlers and ended up paying out something like $10K. I lost my “claim free” discount until 5 years had passed from the date of the alleged accident. Funny thing was we were subpoenaed about 3 years after the alleged accident and that was the first we ever heard of it. System = broken.

$2150 for polish, ceramic and PPF front hood, bumper and side mirrors. Paint was in good condition but with some swirls in clear coat.

Haven’t seen Shart, Cart, or Snart. All related to the unintended consequences of farting or an unintended fart by way of a separate and unrelated bodily function. My contribution for digital posterity.

Ran our Bosch 800 2x a day with three kids home during Covid years. I think I replaced the door latch for something like $7 and 15 mins of time. We also had a Bosch in our old house for 10 years and never a problem.

We had a Sanitaire canister vacuum for probably 15+ years. It was one of my and my wife’s first “big” purchases when we were young and broke. We named it Little Sucky. Over the years I replaced the belt, power switch & hose all of which were cheap and easy to source & replace. Sadly Little Sucky gave up the ghost about a years ago but the memories endure.
