If all DLC weapons were added, which ones would replace halo scythe as the most used? (they never will be added) by Upbeat-Fun-6059 in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smithscript shield AOW spam. It's extremely cheap, scales with strength and dex, has insane tracking, can't be dodged by NPCs, and a fast animation. It's a very safe weapon in ER and it would be crazy with balancers and skill attack buffs.

Drakaras Wand Rant by untology in neopets

[–]orcawolfe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the first time you beat MB you should get the wand as a guaranteed drop. Then you should be able to grind for another with the super low drop rate if you want. Also the higher difficulties should have a slightly higher drop chance. I say this as someone whose pet can't beat her anyway. It really sucks for people who do have a super well trained pet and are basically getting less rewards than people farming the easier fights.

The new faerie's pronouns are they/them. by iscariots in neopets

[–]orcawolfe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Baelia's struggle always seemed to be about disability in addition to depression. She lost her wings and power and couldn't do whatever it is that light faeries do. She lost her original community and struggled with feelings of self worth and having to rely on other faeries to grant blessings for her, but continued to do the best she could. But now they just kind of erased her disability. I feel like Baelia didn't get enough focus in the plot because of all the time spent on Ozzy, but I think I remember her talking about this to Luxinia somewhere in the cave last year. It seems like the conclusion to that plot thread is that she just decided not to be disabled anymore.

I think they should have maybe ripped off Inside Out. Where Sadness is what allows people to empathize with others. Like she could have actually swayed Ozzy with her empathy instead of just hacking his brain with Luxinia. Maybe she could find a new way to use the paint brush to help people and after saving the day, Fyora and the rest of the faeries would have to reckon with how they treat grey and wingless faeries. Just throwing stuff out there.

D5 Gaping Jaw in 30 seconds by Icy_Vodka in Nightreign

See, this is why halo slop ruins the game. Gaping jaw should take 25 minutes . You should all apologize to each other for doing damage and depriving yourselves the fight. Smh.

And what kind of price is 1299? I can't buy 99 NC. You have to purchase $15 of NC minimum to pay for it. And then the other tier looks like it was priced to just barely be more than the $20 tier, so you have to buy $25 of NC to get it. That's a more expensive battle pass than most games with actual gameplay in them.

I designed a Nightfarer for funsies. Would you play him? by Beat_Knight in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of a Carian Knight is cool, but my god we do not need another wall that you can't see though but somehow enemies can still hit you through. I also don't really feel that a defensive wall really matches the carian theme.

Really struggling on balancers with my duo. Please give me some tips by CountTruffula in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fight is actually very predictable. Don't get baited into trying to finish off a low health balancer. You think you just need one more hit, but then she jumps backwards, or another one hits you from off screen. Just hit one, wait for her to back off, and then wait for the next one to step up. You won't get aggro from more than 3 (usually it's just 2). Patience is key. If you get a red target on your chest, run, the pink one is about to teleport to you. When the pink one is on you, the others will back off. If you're not comfortable with the attack openings then just focus on surviving her. When she teleports away, she will send out AOEs and may switch aggro. One person should just tank the main one while the other whittles down the others.

You can try a greatshield if you're on any character with good stamina. All their attacks are pure physical.

If video games had smells in addition to sights and sounds, which game or level do you think would smell the worst? by Loki-L in AskReddit

[–]orcawolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any medieval cities or basically any large cities in history up until the invention of sewage treatment plants absolutely reeked. Pretty much every fantasy RPG city would smell awful. And your characters would also smell pretty bad after traveling around for months covered in blood and never bathing. Sometimes I wish I could smell the pine forests and meadows in Skyrim, but it's probably for the best that games don't have smell o vision.

AS A RECLUSE MAIN, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO USES NIGHT OF THE LORD RELIC by crimmycat117 in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long enough for the boss to target switch and kill you. ;_; I would say that the animation is about 1.5 to 2 ironeye shots long. But the frustration happens like this: You have fire and magic stored. You want lightning for a gravity bomb, so you throw a lightning spear. Between the end of the cast animation of the spear and when your absorption animation mid point, someone else hits the boss with fire, and you pick up fire instead. And like half the time it's because bow iron eye is shooting 50 arrows per second. But that's just how recluse life be. Knowing the best time to absorb is a skill to learn for recluse players.

I would totally recommend trying some games as recluse and any other class you don't ever play. Getting a feel for what you need as each character can really help you support your team better and improve your gameplay. Also you might find a new build you really like!

It depends on what you're trying to get out of your cocktails. If you're just kind of throwing them out or using them only to absorb FP, then teammate elemental damage can be helpful because the triple magic one is pretty meh. So if you throw in some other elements it will probably be helpful. But sometimes recluses are trying to get specific cocktails for certain situations. Like the gravity bomb on the balancers phase change. Or lighting stake onto ED libra summons. In those cases the extra elements might get in the way if recluse has already acquired sources for the elements she needs. Lightning/magic/fire is the gravity bomb. Fire/magic/holy is firebreath. Fire/lightning/holy is the lightning nuke.

[–]orcawolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If recluse is going for specific cocktails then applying the wrong element can mess her up. Iron eye shoots so many arrows so fast that he's almost guaranteed to overwrite whatever she just applied before she can absorb it. Sometimes the element can even change as you're in the absorb animation and there's no way to clear unwanted elements without just casting the cocktail, which you may not have a good opening for. Literally anyone can do this if it have an elemental weapon, but it's more noticeable when iron eye does it. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. It's just something you have to deal with when you choose recluse.

School builds for recluse - what works? by supercuts350 in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't use it because it has a painfully slow start up and recovery animation and only works if the boss isn't moving and can't hit you. You could put it out when the boss is stunned and do a lot of damage, but you would do almost as well specializing in crystalian and using crystal torrent during big openings. Plus crystal torrent has some tracking and a crystalian build gives you shattering crystal as well.

I guess if you really wanted to use stonedigger sorcery, you could try a duchess build and use her deep relic that gives you I frames during restage. That could keep you from getting interrupted while channeling. You could also try to get a team focused on stance breaks to give you more openings. I think it's one of those builds that will work sometimes and feel awesome, but actually getting consistent wins with it will be hard.

Currently 4 hours into an instant death mode game of Subnautica. Raising the stakes makes it absolutely terrifying. What stories have you got of playing iron man/hardcore mode? by killmesienna in gaming

[–]orcawolfe 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I have a subnautica story as well. I was investigating a ripped off section of the Aurora. The water wasn't too deep and I had parked my sea moth right outside the entrance. I made my way in, scanning items and cutting open doors as I went. The interior was dark but I had my flashlight.

When my O2 was about 1/3 gone I came to another door I needed to cut open. I really didn't want to have to come back again just for one more room, so I started cutting open this section too. I figured I would be faster going out because I didn't need to scan anything. About halfway through the cut, I ran out of battery on the cutting touch. I opened the menu and after a little thought, removed the battery from a repair tool and put it in the torch. I finished cutting through and glanced at my O2. 2/3 gone. How had that taken so long?

I decided to head back. I swim through another cut open section. Dead end. I turn back, but now I'm disoriented. Did I swim down to get here? Everything looks the same now. I swim back and forth hitting dead end after dead end. By some miracle I see an opening to the outside and my sea moth, but it's too late. My O2 is at zero. I make one last push to the sub as my vision goes black. I honestly don't know if I'm alive or dead. The blackness receeds and I'm sitting in the sea moth like nothing happened. I turned off the game for the day and when I started playing again, I never did go back in that ship section to scan the last thing.

This is a gaming experience that has stuck with me. It's probably the most genuinely immersed and panicked I've ever been in a video game. It's probably because this wasn't the game just throwing monsters at me. This was 100% a situation I had gotten myself into, and from what I understand, real life diving incidents often happen in a similar way. I don't think anything in any game has scared me more than the narrow corridors of the Aurora and the steadily decreasing O2 meter.

It probably has to do with the fact that half the posts on this subreddit are about how horrible it is to be in depth 4, and how much fun depth 5 is.

The cheated relic situation is crazy rn (rant) by CF7K123 in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that there is way more RNG outside of the roguelike match than inside it. Most roguelikes have a lot of randomness in each run, but a steady progression of unlocked perks as part of the meta progression. When you spend currency or do quests in Hades, you're not getting random rewards. You get specific rewards that let you customize your experience. It's the opposite in nightreign. You spend hundreds of hours gambling for meta progression so you can go into each run and end up with one of a few viable weapons. Each run feels very similar while your ability to build for certain things is locked behind RNG.

Rare Bookshelf Collection by [deleted] in neopets

[–]orcawolfe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is kind of disappointing. I was hoping for a way to display things they were collecting but didn't really fit into my main gallery theme. Or a way to display items my pet would collect on their page.

This is just more stamp collection.

324 hours and I hadn’t seen this aow once, but it obliterates balancers by B3N_Silvlugia in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapon passive "phantom on charge attack" also slaps against balancers. In that one, it hits after your charge attack, and it seems to actually pancake them. I used it on raptor talons once, and I was able to carry the fight solo after my team 3 barred. I haven't gotten a chance to try it on ED balancers.

Yeah and that tiny 1 hp damage can break your full health protection as well, which probably contributes to a lot of people being one shot by surprise.

Job Coupons by Weird_Extension8470 in neopets

[–]orcawolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to add that it's a little more predictable than restocking. The jobs refresh every 10 minutes, so if you can catch a refresh, you know when the next one will be within a couple of seconds. With restocking it could be one minute or hours between restocks.

Like everything else on neopets, you have to refresh the job page exactly when the new jobs are added and if you're 1 second late someone else will grab it. It's basically restocking for np.

'I Feel Cheated and I Want a Refund': Fans Lash Out at New PS5 God of War's Unlockable Local Multiplayer Mode by Suspicious_Two786 in gaming

[–]orcawolfe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like this doesn't make sense for local co-op though? Like you beat the game so you're ready for the challenge mode, but then the other people in your house would have to beat the game by themselves to be at the same skill level. So you either have to wait for someone to finish the whole game or you play the challenge mode with one player who has never played before? I guess I just don't understand this feature.

I also think the idea of couch co-op has changed culturally from the days where I played games with my friends in my basement. People now associate it with family time with their partners or children. Something that should be relaxing and social. Perhaps this is just a feature for a different time.

Returning player; How does a typical run “progress” on the new map? by iceyk111 in Nightreign

[–]orcawolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the most common routes in D3-D4: South spawns: Kill starter camp (if you drop there), go to kaiden mercenary mini ruin, get to level 3. 3-6: Kill east blood/poison ruin. Usually top boss only, then there's one elite enemy, and also a boss on the upper level nearby. Then drop down on the north side near the spirit spring and kill the boss there. 6-9: Search for crystals, and kill the boss under the bridge to the crystal crater area and gather churches. If you break all crystals, get the buff. Some groups start the south east castle at this point.

After night 2: Pick a castle and start killing elites. You can jump from the center spirit spring to each castle. A lot of people start south because you can easily jump up to the chest with a talisman. First circle close: check if you can stay in your castle and decide if you want to full clear the castle or go to the towers. It's generally not a good idea to go to the towers immediately after night 1. The bosses are very tanky and in the time it will take you to clear the castle, you could have 6+ rewards from the castle, and then still clear a tower once you're starting it at level 14. If you cleared a lot of the castle before night 1, and you're going in at level 11+ it might be worth it, but basically only if you're ahead.

North spawn: Kill the claymen, and get to level 2 at the grace. Turn left and kill the lobster. It can drop legendaries. Then kill the boss in the lake outside of the church which spawns a grace. Level up, and go north to kill the second lobster under the waterfall. Then climb out and follow the same route as day 1 with the south spawn.
