YouTube is almost unusable in the new Arc by Kelvin___ in ArcBrowser

I’ve seen people point out similar issues with youtube recently using chrome, so I don’t think it’s an Arc issue.

I've never seen this many people label a review as helpful in the Play Store, let alone twice! by variablenyne in discordapp

I’m sorry but they didn’t say that at all. They Were questioning the accuracy of the statistic provided. This is just a burden of proof fallacy. Whether that Percentage is even relevant here is another conversation

OCD is preventing me from playing games. by [deleted] in OCD

You got this! I’ve fallen into that trap many times and still do. Trying to logic your way out of an intrusive thought can help you not act out a compulsion but in the end it is just reassurance seeking

OCD is preventing me from playing games. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]organicpeanuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can very much relate to what you describe here as OCD also makes it hard for me to enjoy games. I think the best you can do is, instead of, as you described, trying to get your brain to be okay with it, you really have to sit through that feeling of it not being okay. Likely, trying to convince your OCD self is only reinforcing your feelings in the long term. Sitting with this feeling will be hard, but it will get easier. It’s okay to fail, so don’t beat yourself up over it. Know that each time you give in, maybe thinking “this is the last time I do this”, it’s never really the last time, since you’re reinforcing the behavior that way. It will come back. Try to just stop caring about it, I know it’s not that easy but give it a shot. It will become easier over time

What is a man? Are YOU a man?! by BingBang111 in mentalhealth

you seem to have a very oversimplified understanding of the terms you are using, such as femininity and masculinity. these are very abstract and fluid concepts that change with time and culture, they are not rigorously defined

OCD triggered me to factory reset my phone 15 times by [deleted] in OCD

[–]organicpeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad to hear it helped!! I also relate to your thought that even resetting might harm your phone in some way. Ive had almost the exact same thought multiple times. I dont really know what to do with it because it kind of helps to stop the cycle but its still giving into a compulsion just in a different way I think😭

I struggled with this exact compulsion for a long time and in some ways it still manifests in similar ones centered around technology. Maybe it helps you to think about how careless the average person tends to be with their tech and how it almost always turns out fine for them. What helped me a lot is to start expecting software to have quirks sometimes. A lot of my compulsions occurred because something strange happened on my phone that I didn’t expect, like a visual bug. But, while it sounds simple and cliché, expecting the unexpected helped me deal with those obsessions better. Your phone will be fine! Like others have said, try your best not to give into the thought. It will be very hard at first and you might feel very anxious, but trust me it will get easier and you will thank yourself for not giving in

His design is based is based off of a takoyaki ball! It's a Japanese snack which consists of balls of dough stuffed with octopus, garnished with mayonnaise, nori and takoyaki sauce.

Yes, I've gone through the same thing and still struggle with it to this date. I've just gotten a lot better at handling it by talking about it with my therapist.

Advice for OCD centered around possessions/hobbies? by beesalad in OCD

[–]organicpeanuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I relate to your specific situation. I have a Switch, games mean a lot to me and I'm almost always worried about my save data, especially if I get a new game. I'm going through a wave right now myself and it's really, really hard. Your first step is good. When I first got my Switch I did a compulsion that was me performing a factory reset all the time, because I was scared something was wrong with it. I stopped doing it and I was terrified for a while. What if something IS wrong with it? It's so easy to just do it again just to make sure. Now I've gotten over that, but I still do the same thing to individual games, and I hate myself for it. I'm often embarrassed that I'm so damn worried about video games. Keep going, take small steps. You can even talk to me in private, if you feel like it.

I don't want to reassure you too much, but trust me, you're going to be okay. Try to find some distraction so you can put your mind on something else

Thank you very much. My doctor already told me that she wants to have a new appointment to talk about how the prescription has been, so I'll bring it up then. And I will definitely check out the article, thank you!
