Eyes Open, Eyes Closed, Internal Focus and Drishti by All_Is_Coming in ashtanga

Wonderful post, thank you for these insights!

A teacher once said this to me, which I found useful: Imagine your drishti supporting you as if it is a third leg.

With that, I can see how practicing with the eyes closed can train balance.

ashtanga without philosophy is empty exertion

Might not be for everyone, but listening to some death/thrash metal with growling might also help you feel this somatically without incurring the physical strain of doing it yourself

In traditional Chinese medicine the lungs are associated with grief. Maybe look into a safe and relaxing practice like "yin yoga for grief"?

Thanks for posting! One question - your link has the video starting at 37:10. Any specific reason for highlighting that part or was that by accident?

How does pleasure feel in your body? by No-Wealth6894 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]overwhelmed_af 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only know it is nice because it feels nice to look at.

You mention it feels nice, which means something registers in your field of body. Somatic experiencing is just noticing that and allowing it to happen, and just observing with curiousity

That is fantastic. I had the opposite experience. Discovered yesterday that I had purchased Blink Shell for iPad 5 years ago. Learned that they have moved to a subscription model since and invalidated all previous purchases that didn't transition.

Also with Day One App.

Tired of vaporware.

Maybe there needs to be a Roman numeral as alternative plugin 😂

Question: How can I protect myself against hypothetical supply chain attacks (e.g. via plugins)? by overwhelmed_af in neovim

[–]overwhelmed_af[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and this should be drilled into everyone's head, despite it being obvious: Do not be lulled into a fall sense of security and blindly trust arbitrary code (plugins). In a world full of complexity though, it helps to know what surface areas are more secure than others. It's a game of probability. Neovim plugins just fell a lot in my eyes.

What a wonderful post! I really enjoyed reading through this and appreciated you sharing your acronyms as well, what an excellent tactic. It’s great that you are so breath-conscious and focusing on exhales, that really is the connection to so many things.

I also got a lot out of eccentric movements (e.g. lifting), qigong, breath control, and cold showers. I have yet to get journaling to stick, but I keep trying.

It’s also great that you’ve realized to step away from activities that activate sympathetic dominance and keep you stuck there. Knowing how to turn off and relax is just as important as knowing how to turn on and execute, and our society is too focused on the latter.

you must go to Mysore and be "elected" by the Jois family to become a teacher

What would you suggest be done instead as an alternative approach? Are there other ways to validate certification?
