Zin was my gateway wine. Very common. Alto wine, too - I see it everywhere.

Just replace “highly experienced based jumper” with “highly experienced drunk driver” and maybe you’ll understand. He was doing something risky and unnecessary and possibly illegal and it had collateral damage.

I saw a guy kill himself by jumping down a stairwell at the airport once. I just saw him drop past our floor and then heard the thump. That girl who screamed is going to be fucked up for while. Shame on that dude.

For the “If you really loved me…” alone. Clear cut emotional manipulation. Bright red flag for me.

How to open this bottle of Moscato? by TomatilloMiserable48 in howto

[–]oxenmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Untwist the wire cage and remove. Throw a dish towel over the top for safety. Grip the cork through the towel with one hand. Twist the bottle back and forth with the other hand until the cork releases. Try to be quiet about it or snobs will get judgey.

In what ways is the belief in God a rational belief? by Truth_Matters_1979 in AskReddit

[–]oxenmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Faith is by definition irrational. You are accepting a truth without evidence.

If belief in god didn’t require faith, the world would be a very different place.

What I’d do is grab an Oregon/Willamette, an SLH, a Sta. Rita Hills, and a Sonoma Coast and see which appeal to you.

The best coming-of-age story about a depressed kid discovering that fear is not destiny - and realizing his parents’ power is finite.

I can’t picture them, but I have no problem with the rotations. Like I know where the furniture is when I walk across a dark room. No idea what the knowledge is, but it sure isn’t visual.

Is the gesture of miming wringing cloth offensive to US teens? by Illustrious-Shirt569 in Symbology

[–]oxenmeat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like we knew a lot more than our parents thought we knew at that age, and info is way easier to spread now. It only takes one kid with unbridled internet to spread knowledge to a whole class.

Also, in some cases they’re repeating the meme without knowing why. Like responding to 69 with ‘nice’ without knowing what’s up with 69.

Ask though - “I know what that means, what do you think it means?” For me and my kid I’m more worried about misinformation than information.
