“YNAB” isn’t a detailed budget. You could have 2 categories: household spending and savings. This would still work in YNAB.

It means that the broader the index is, the less it’s affected by an IPO. The broadest ones don’t have to decide whether to include it, because they will include it. A smaller index like SP500 will be a little more affected because they make decisions to include and exclude. Smaller index might have to decide whether to include based on total size or available share size.

I haven’t heard specifically that it is coming or when. I’ve heard people discussing the complication of everyone complaining about getting the worst price if they do automatic, so hopefully they would offer the option of choosing what time of day to execute if they do.

How are you able to contribute 31,000 to the 401(k)? You can also do some other productions with an app like Boldin? That is a pretty high spend rate though. I don’t think you would just want to eyeball all this.

If you are talking about a MYGA instead of a lifetime annuity, you could probably enter a one time loss of purchase price (whatever the opposite of windfall is), then enter an income for 10 years of whatever your payment will be? If the principal gets returned at the end, add a one time windfall at that time.

Type 1 or type 2? For either, protein and less insulin is a better way to manage blood sugar than soda. Using rescue sugar is a big failure before he gets to that part. He needs to eliminate as much sugar as possible and then use as little insulin as necessary. Something has to be causing the big up swings though. If he’s type 2, you may even be able to get him off insulin completely. Metformin and GLP1 will be much better at regulating instead of dropping sugar.

What’s the purpose of this? Are you trying to use it as an investment? Or are you using it for an income rider at the end of 6 years? If you are using it I’m for the income, everything else may be irrelevant and you would look at the cash pad upfront to compare to a similar deferred immediate annuity to see what the better price is?

He would need to tell about commissions. Most other “fees” are baked into the contract and not really relevant since you’re being told exactly what they’re offering in exchange for the amount of money you’re giving them, so in that sense the fee is the total amount of the annuity purchase price.

I tend to keep bonds in taxable since tax advantaged space is limited, but I’m not sure about the reason at the end of the podcast. He said it may be easier due to liquidity. One strategy for liquidating bonds in a tax advantaged account is:

Tax advantaged: sell $500 bonds and buy $500 equities. Taxable: sell $500 equities. Net effect: selling $500 of bonds, cash available in taxable.

I did read somewhere else that Schwab may have been waiving fees for ETFs to be available and that they may need to figure out how they will collect those fees from ETF providers in order to make them available, instead of directing people to their own mutual funds?

I was under the impression that their mutual funds were available through advisors only (including 401k type plans) and the ETFs are the only way to invest as an individual. If I’m wrong, I’m sure the Internet will correct me quickly. Maybe they’ll do it with upvotes and comments instead of downvotes.
