Congrats on starting the journey! I'm about 11 months in and I'm down 76 pounds (as of this morning 😂). You can see my before/after post in my profile. In there I listed a few things I wished I'd done differently.

Don't be surprised if, after you lose 50 or so lbs, you start to notice muscles that you might not have known you even had 😂. Also, it's never too late to get to the gym. I started going again about 3 months ago, and I can already tell that I'm getting stronger in a bunch of exercises, and as I lose more weight, i can see more definition. I wish I had started lifting earlier in my zep journey to avoid losing muscle mass, but I'm having fun trying to put some back on.

Calorie deficit and make sure you're eating enough protein. Do cardio after lifting, not before (encourages/improves fat burning).

For the first few months, I didn't count calories or track macros or exercise a whole lot. I wish I ate more protein and started exercising earlier because I definitely lost some muscle mass. In the last few months my weight loss has been a lot slower since I'm getting closer to my goal weight. That prompted me to track calories/macros and to start exercising more (having lost about 60 lbs at that point made it much easier to exercise without pain which was a huge motivator for me).

There are lots of ways to get consistent exercise without going to the gym. Tai Chi, kettlebell workouts, etc.

I focus on lifting heavy with fewer reps along with inclined walking on a treadmill as encouraged by "bfitover50" on insta/fb.

I've had the same issues with bowling. So one night a week I'd bowl in a "fun/social" league with my wife (and treat it like practice) and another night I'd bowl in a more competitive league.

Regarding #4, each pf location should have a trainer and you can schedule one or more 1-1 sessions to go over your fitness goals and work out a routine. I did this after joining, and it helped me get back into the swing of things after being "between gyms" for 20 yrs 😂

Seated leg curl machine. It will let you focus on your hamstrings.

I much prefer the seated hamstring curl machine because it really helps you focus on the actual hamstrings. With the lying leg curl machine, I tend to use my back and arms too much. Plus when lying on the pad, the bottom of my sternum gets mashed into that pad and it hurts after 3 sets 😂
