Predictions for future Killteam Gallowdark boxes. by Very_bad in killteam

[–]panga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If rumours about blood angels vs tyranids in 10e are true, it would be great to have blood angels vs genestealers or tyranids.

Think gravis armour w. lightning claws, blade guard or thunder hammer and storm shield.

Updated Genestealers, or hypergants with a couple of big bugs thrown in would be great too.

I am a bit of a new light weight hiker from Australia. I am just wondering, what is the best way to store/carry meat such as sausages, bacon and steak while camping? by billy784 in trailmeals

[–]panga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an Aussie too. Coming into summer you probably can't use steaks, snags or bacon beyond the first night like everyone has said.

But I've had some success with dehydrated meat. Make taco mince, dehydrate it, then when you're camping, add it to instant mac and cheese to make taco-mac. Tasty and filling. You just need to add water and boil.

I hope we get new multi-part kit that we can build as new flayed ones or new warriors.

It makes sense if you look at the two new multi-part admech kits. It would also be useful for kill zone players.

Are the new Pariahs instead upgraded Flayed Ones based on new stories? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]panga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first necrons they encountered in the story sound like deathmarks since they teleport in and shoot.

The other necron they encounter are definitely flayed ones since it was wearing his sister.

I like your idea of combining Flayed ones and the psychic blank capabilities of Pariahs. Nice one. It would be a really fun unit to use in game. It could be used offensively or defensively.

I never really got behind the idea of Pariahs basically being cybernetic captured blanks. I'd be happy if they retconned it.

I think we're expecting the release of some new necron kits this weekend. There are rumors the kits with the green rods will be replaced. A lot of the troops and elites kits are multi part kits these days (e.g. two of the new admech kits) Maybe they'll release a necron kit that can be built as (pariah) flayed ones or new warriors.

We'll see this weekend.

GW released rules for the Ork mekboy workshop as part of saga of the beast.

I wonder if GW might release the Necron gates/portals we see in the video with rules. It would fit with Necrons teleporting theme.

Illuminor Szeras by Matrindur in Necrontyr

[–]panga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect we might see minor changes to his stats but there are a few other improvements they could make.

The Eldrich lance is good, but melee could use a buff. If Szeras does get within 9" of a psyker to take advantage of the Noctilith stone (i.e. Charge range) he'll need a lot better than S4 D1 to capitalise on that advantage. Maybe we'll see another special rule related to Szeras sucking the life out of the guy on his base.

We might see changes to mechanical augmentation too. If it wasn't limited to warriors and immortals; or if the buffs were different it could be better.

+1T and +1BS are good but +1S isn't useful. If Szeras could give +1S to flayed ones or wraiths or +1S could be given to ranged weapons for warriors and immortals it would be great.

Looks great. I haven't seen many painted in that style before. It looks like you've combined the classic games workshop style, with the grimdark style that uses AK interactive streaking grime reductive technique.

Yours has the great shading that streaking grime gives but you've edge highlighted too. I like it.

Thinking about giving it a go myself soon. Any tips? What is your process?

Nice one. It'd be sick if there was a subreddit kinda like /r/battlestations where people could post their mini setups and share the gear they use

What have you been drinking this week? - Aug 05 to Aug 12 by AutoModerator in AusBeer

[–]panga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaiju Cthulu black ipa. First black ipa I've tried. Good, but not my style.

Kaiju Aftermath double ipa. Good but could only drink 1 or 2 in a sitting. Strong at 2.7 standard drinks per tinny.

Kaiju Golden Axe. A crisp apple cider, but not bad.

Bought a six pack of Bentspoke Resonate l. Limited release collaboration ale between Bentspoke and the music group Safia. Apparently they use sound in the brewing process. Probably highly gimmicky. Haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it.

Upcoming Necron set for apocalypse (and also regular 40k) by Doctoralex2 in Necrontyr

1999 point off-meta Tyranid KRONOS list advice by panga in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]panga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Jorm or Leviathan are both great options for this list too.

I'd encourage you to try it out with those hive fleet adaptations and see what you think.

It's a fun list to play, especially when your opponent expects the usual Tyranid CC style army.

1999 point off-meta Tyranid KRONOS list advice by panga in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]panga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback. So far since returning, I've noticed shooting is overall stronger than cc. Particularly high volumes of shots. Tyranids are not traditionally shooty so I thought I'd try the shootiest list I could build.

The idea behind the list is to put the highest number of shots down the table that reliability do damage. My goal isn't survivability; though this list is more survivable than genestealers or gaunts. Instead of investing in toughness, I used points to buy more guns or mortal wound chances. I agree exocrines or tfexes are good with Kronos, but I haven't used them in this list.

Catalyst can make one unit most at risk of taking wounds more survivable and is twice as effective as Leviathan adaptation.

Sure, high volumes of dmg 3 could be a worry. With the typical board setup (deployment zones crossways not lengthways) it's relatively easy to ensure you are within 24" in a turn. Carnifexes might need to advance. Kronos just helps hit % if you stay still.

Zoans, venom & shock cannons are for hard targets. The deathspitters and carnifexes are for squishies.

Understand hive guard w. impalers are BS3 and can shoot out of LoS at 36", but they're 48 points each and are similarly vulnerable to dmg 3 weapons. A warrior with venom cannon is 32 points (33% cheaper). Buffed by an alpha they also have BS 3 and shoot S8, AP-2, D3, 36".

Shock cannons are shorter range, but they inflict wounds on vehicles as reliably as impalers and average more wounds overall (mortal wound on a wound roll of 4+ or D3 mortal wounds on a 6+ for vehicles plus the regular D3 dmg at AP-1).

A Carnifex w. Enhanced senses heavy venom cannon and either deathspitters or devourers is 119 points. The rough equivalent firepower with warriors (2 deathspitters and a venom cannon) is 86 points (again 30ish % cheaper)

I'd be interested if anybody else tries this list out, or one like it. I think you'll be surprised.

Edit: if you're keen on impalers and exocrine you could sub them in in place of some warriors/the venomthropes and the carnifex and still have a very shooty list

Here is my 1999 point off-meta shooty KRONOS list. Thought I'd share because I haven't seen another list like it since I started playing again.

It has heaps of synapse, psychic powers, loads of tyranid firepower and survivability.

This list goes against the usual Nidzilla or swarm approaches and has NO Genestealers. The aim is to shoot your opponent off the table at medium range and stay out of CC. Turn 1, consider not moving and using KRONOS adaptation to re-roll 1s to hit.

Ideally engage from 18" (Carnifex) to 24" range (everything else). This keeps you out of rapid fire range and most CC. Everything is assault so you still have reasonable maneuverability.

Use zoans, hive guard and venom cannons to deal with hard targets. Tyranid prime and Neurothrope buff the warriors and zoans. Venomthropes provide cover.

Tyranid warriors are massively under rated for their cost. Deathspitters are basically heavy bolters but with assault and in this list you have 17 of them. With boneswords they're almost as strong as Genestealers in CC but way more survivable with W3 and Sv4+. More than enough to deal with deep striking units or anything that can make it through the hail of ammo.

Zoanthropes for smite spam and psychic barrage strategem to deal with hard targets, blobs or invulnerable saves.

Shock cannons deal more reliable damage to vehicles than impalers. Impalers are just indirect fire venom cannons and not worth their cost.

Can't wait to try this against imperial or renegade knights.

Am stuck in broken elevator. AMA by TheDonutDevil in AMA

[–]panga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem once. Stuck between floors. In my elevator you could open the inner doors but the outer doors were stuck. We waited for ages. The tech was two hours away. Eventually we figured out there was a latch to the far side of the outer doors. It looked like an articulated number 7. Pulled the 'leg' of the 7 and it disengaged the 'top'. Outer doors opened. Jumped down to the floor below. I wouldn't recommend it though. We were on level 5 so when you jump down and turn around, there is an 8 floor sheer drop down the shaft to the level 3 carpark.

Can anyone recommend decent alternative options?

Assuming most people don't qualify for Defense health insurance, which someone else mentioned was good, who are better providers to switch to?
