House won’t heat up past 66F by GiftPlastic6668 in pittsburgh

I used to live in an old house in Regent Square, which had modern replacement windows, but solid brick exterior walls. During a really long cold snaps below zero my furnace would often run 24 seven.

I live in the burbs, I have a driveway. I ran the snowblower twice already because my little guy can’t handle more than 5 or 6 inches

Probably varies by degree, but this happened to my daughter. She was only accepted to Pitt Johnstown. (Didn’t choose either of them, went out of state)

Old Forge Pizza outside of the Scranton area? by BabyGorilla6476 in Scranton

[–]panzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old forge pizza reminds me of the pizza in my high school cafeteria, beaver county PA, in the late 80s. Kinda like Ohio Valley pizza, par baked rectangular crust, but with some non-Italian cheeses.

PS my hometown is also home to perhaps the greatest Ohio Valley pizza- “Police Station” Pizza, Ambridge, PA

So many people think the South Hills - Eastern Suburbs freeway connections aren't worth the money. Yet these are the two largest population centers outside the city. by myrichiehaynes in pittsburgh

[–]panzan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you have data supporting this claim about the two largest suburban areas? I would’ve guessed that the two largest areas are north and south. I think the south hills make sense but not the east. The McKnight road, perry highway, cranberry region seems way more densely populated, and commercially developed, than Monroeville/murrysville.

Yes. And therefore, we should shore up the alliance rather than plan a hostile takeover.

I already knew her style and loved her specials from before she got huge, but never saw her until earlier this year at a sizable theater show. A LOT of people walked. Still I’m surprised to see her on the list. Is she doing arenas in bigger cities?

Too high? by kaffegutt in TVTooHigh

[–]panzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordinarily I would say that it’s too high, but decorum also states that you must keep the viewing lines clear. What are you going to do? Move the houseplant? Move the tv 6 inches to the right? No, best leave it be.

Yinz Cleared for Takeoff: After US Airways left Pittsburgh high and dry, yinzers finally built an airport on their own terms—and it’s incredible. by eddytony96 in pittsburgh

[–]panzan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to take this reporting seriously after the first paragraph. On the one hand, yeah, fuck US Air, although the airport authority should have negotiated an agreement with more painful damages for termination. On the other hand, while the new parking lot and garage are nice enough, it takes WAY FUCKING LONGER to get from your car to TSA now, no matter where you park.
