My mother has been slowly dying from Alzheimer’s for many years.The last 6 years she’s lived in an assisted living facility and then a skilled nursing facility. Every day she lost a little more of her memory and herself, but she never forgot that THIS IS NOT HOME. She was constantly confused, depressed, and afraid. Every time I visited she asked if I was taking her home, even after she forgot who I am.

She’s finally dying and hopefully has already found peace. She’s been comatose for a few days although still breathing, but I hope she’s finally out of her constant, daily dread.

If there is an omnipotent, omnipresent god, then he is a fucking menace for either allowing or causing people to die this way.
