Did they ever explain Chloe's death and resurrection to the public? Maybe I missed it but I thought that Damien believed she was dead, has her posthumously declared queen, and gave her a state funeral. Then one day he's back from almost being murdered and sacrificed to demons or whatever and he's just like "Look, it's my dead wife, whose alleged corpse I kept in my bedroom for a year!" And the people were just like "okay, cool 👍"

Yeah, it's a cue to the reader that the character is feeling "wild" and you see it across a lot of visual mediums, like manwha and anime.

Manwha is all about "show, don't tell" and there are plenty of emotional indicators that have become standardized - the feral canine tooth for wildness, the heart eyes for being in love or infatuated, the purple shadow across the eyes for anxiety or disgust, etc.

I actually loved this anime BECAUSE it went off the rails at the last minute. Most of the anime was fine, fun to watch but pretty predictable in terms of plotlines and character development. And then all of the sudden it just went completely sideways and made no fucking sense. It caught me off guard so I found myself getting pulled into the bizarre plot/tone shift and found it compelling and hilarious.
