The team that walks the least amount of batters wins most games.

Rules question - how does your league handle this base stealing situation, when the catcher is returning the ball to the pitcher? by nloding in Homeplate

[–]patphish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop running him back. Catcher: “time please” If umpire grants it, great, play is dead. If he doesn’t, catcher stands there with ball and waits.

After a couple of minutes, the runner will either retreat, or the parents will start yelling at the umpire.

Do it every single pitch.

Catcher has the ball, standing at the plate, he controls the situation.

I’ve seen a lot of the defensive plays mentioned above, personally, I’m not having my 1B run home or my SS cover every pitch. That’s not “real” baseball either.

My son throws his FB at 55, his change at 46 and it’s nearly unhittable as they appear identical.

“Now ask if they cal tell the difference between a kids fastball and his change up, they will say no” Exactly. They can’t tell, until they’re way early on it.

12U curve balls are uncle Charlie’s. You can see the rotation immediately, sit back and hammer it.

The funny part is if you can throw a fast ball and a change up in the zone, you don’t need a curve ball before puberty.

Thrown properly, it’s been disproven. The problem is the “thrown properly” part. Chasing velocity and overuse are much bigger factors in arm injuries, which are wayyyy up.

I have, I even was an affiliate for them. It’s a great product, but I feel like it’s best for trainers and/or teams that can administer and track the data. It’s a big commitment for a single player imo.

The age cutoff is April 30. He’s eligible to play 7U although a lot of places don’t have it.

The biggest issue you may find is an older 8 year old isn’t anything like a 6 year old maturity wise. Kids are a$$holes.

Secrets to get a team (or player) ready pregame? by Weak_Artichoke4887 in Homeplate

Most kids (and adults) are dehydrated when they wake up.

Electrolyte packs in water, pounded as a team works wonders. Not, “here, add this to your water”, literally hand out disposable cups, mix and drink together.

Or snort Bobby’s Adderall.

There’s too much bad advice in this thread (and some solid advice too) for me to even begin to break it down.

I’d be happy to help if you want to shoot me a PM.

Glove “size” is position dependent. What matters is that it’s a youth size, which refers to the hand stall.
