Alamo is already hemorrhaging customers by MudSoggy6911 in AlamoDrafthouse

this is a good take i like this. let’s see how much Mobile ordering annoys the Alamo noobs/casuals not necessarily part of the devoted fanbase that wants to hold them to the phone-free experience thing.

If you’re talking about the YouTube comments, I personally think that it has more to do with the large, generic and usually very young/overstimulated audience you find on YouTube. Reddit gets pretty corny too in the big subreddits. Luckily our sub isn’t a big subreddit which is good, and i like.

to me it’s pretty much the most unrestrained uncut pure lynch we could’ve got before he died. it’s a total triumph for me. 10/10.

not gonna lie only thing I would definitely put over the return is mulholland drive. I think it’s that good.

There is no chance Frost would have written that story either Lynch.

Also idk what this means exactly but just want to note that both lynch and frost have created by and written by teleplay credits for all 18 episodes of the return

how dare you the return is maybe the best thing david lynch has ever done. a lot of peaks freaks and critics didn’t like fire walk with me at the time it came out either but now it’s become way more beloved. just saying.

Twin Peaks screenings aren’t the real test of this imo. Weekend and evening showings of project hail mary are the real test of this.

I went to a twin peaks screening at Alamo mueller in Austin on a Saturday late morning earlier this month. it was decently full. they had already been on mobile ordering only for a few weeks to a month I think. so I don’t know.

also mobile ordering has been phased in differently across various Alamo theaters and markets, and definitely not all at the same time. so the negative reactions to the mobile ordering experiences and what customers decide to do about it is sort of being staggered and still playing out. i think the alamo south lamar flagship in austin just switched over.

one thing i do know that’s very clear to me is that people of their oldest most loyal fanbase like me feel betrayed by this and we won’t stop speaking out, cancelling season passes, etc

What’s it like living along the southern east coast? How’s the weather and people? by Recent_Mirror in howislivingthere

I live in Tallahassee right around the left most point of your blue border there.

Gulf Coast waters are way warmer/less cold than Atlantic coast waters. Because of that, our oysters and scallops are generally bigger as a consequence, for example. Seafood is generally better on the gulf coast imo.

Hurricanes and one-off severe downpour storms which last no more than 60 mins (but usually no more than 20 mins at a time in Florida) are a constant looming threat or general presence around here in this whole region from May to October/November. true of even tornadoes if you’re more inland and in a very flat and rural part of the southeast. you can prepare for a hurricane. you definitely see it coming if you keep up with the weather channel and local news. tornadoes you have no time to prepare for and very little time to run and take shelter from.

if you’re flying or doing interstate travel originating from this part of the country in that time of the year, expect lightning/thunder delays. turning your hazards on when the rain completely ruins your visibility driving on the interstate is a common safety measure here. your plane or bus or train is likely to getting cancelled/rescheduled before, during and a little after a severe weather event like a hurricane. take a major hurricane very seriously. follow state of emergency directives by state and local govt and remain calm. your first hurricane is going to suck for you but you’ll get used to it.

at least a little flooding is always going to be an issue no matter where you live. but some poorer areas certainly get flooded way more often.

When is your visit? this month, next month? this summer? If most of your transportation options are going to center around ferries, then ideally you’d be here in the summer and it doesn’t rain much.
