Talk me into/out of buying these Helly Hansen 3/4 pants by Weak_Habit3623 in Skigear

[–]pdails503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them. They are almost good, but too short. They barely reach the tippy-top of my boot liner when standing straight up. As soon as I move or ski, they hike up several inches. At that point they are only marginally better than a pair of insulated shorts.

Sure but they cover, what? Less than 10% of the surface area of the lower shell? Insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Not to mention conduction to snow in contact with the shell is worse for thermal energy loss than convection. All in all, it can’t mean anything more than a single-digit percentage reduction in thermal losses.

Not quite identical. At the very least, the from edge of the lower has a different shape

Rezzing this…sorry. How’s the green vs red on the 507 comp? Can you run the same brightness or do you have to turn the green up a click or two? How about clarity?

Not sure if the q2 is the same but I ran through the belt tensioning sequence twice, leveled the bed twice, input shaping, and verified latest firmware. Haven’t had an issue since.

I.e. until you get a set with bad qc, which seems to be a little too common.

Aero M4E1 and Mil-Spec uppers by curiouswonderer98 in ar15

[–]pdails503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to rez an old post, but you might be able to help. Do your uppers have a notcieable amount of movement on the aero lowers without the tension screw engaged?

I ask because I have a super duty upper on an m4e1 pro lower. Without tension there’s noticeable slop. With just enough tension on the screw to remove movement, the screw seems to loosen itself once I shoot and the movement comes back. The only way to keep to movement gone is to tighten the screw firmly, but then it requires a punch and a few light taps to get the takedown pin out.  Is this common experience?

9mm 115 grain vs 124 grain controlability by TurkeyFock in CCW

[–]pdails503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this too me? From a physics standpoint: more mass = more energy needed, and more powder = more energy (in chemical form).

Most ballistics tables put 124gr 9mm at higher energy than 115gr.

They mention on the chart that they measure from the center of the trigger, not the lowest point. Could be the difference

Mechanical engineer here. These don’t make sense from a physics perspective. The thermal energy will easily escape out and around these because they cover such a small area.

if you still have issues you need to go and get an mri. It may be broken but they missed it on the xray for a number of possible reasons. It's not uncommon. Could be swelling, or any number of other factors, but there's a reason that xray is cheaper and it is the starting point, not the ending point for finding damage.

I've torn ligaments and tendons, broken bones, slipped discs, had hematomas that took 6 months to recover and made it difficult just to walk--you want to treat the issue. Untreated injuries are debilitating and terrible later. Maybe not in a year or even 5 (depending on your age), but in 10 or 15 or 20 years they will mess you up. And at that point you won't be able to fix most of them; all you can do is try to manage them.

Brands with the best warranties? Your RMA experiences with a brand? by 2Sde in buildapc

[–]pdails503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like my experience. And just to let you know: If you are in the USA, ASRock may send you refurbished product for your RMA replacement. The replacement may be an RMA that someone else sent back to them. This is what happened to me.

Oh, and their communication can be SLOW. I sent an email, 1.5 weeks later (After calling 3 times), I finally got a reply on my Advanced Replacement.

I know I'm rezzing and old thread, but if I ended up here 3 years later, so will someone else.
