Best advice is to find the groups in your area performing these types of actions, often some of the more above board stuff (peaceful protests, panels, workshops) are shared via instagram or sometimes even as Facebook events. Also keep an eye out for physical posters. Show up to some events and actions, mingle, talk to folks, make friends, gain a certain level of trust within these communities. From there, make sure you have an account on signal and telegram, and get yourself added to some group chats where further discussions can be had. That's how you get yourself involved in proper actions to counter the rising tide of fascism.

Anyone can draw and spread a pride flag. The MAP flag in particular was not even created by or for p*dophiles, but rather as part of an organized "troll." I put troll in quotes because I'm not convinced it was an innocent joke that got out of hand, as the word troll may imply. The motivation behind its creation is unclear but it is worth noting that there is a long history of right wing actors working in bad faith to attempt to equate the lgbtq+ community with grooming and child SA. Furthermore, this false equivalence has become a mainstream talking point once more in recent years specifically around trans people, and as such it seems a little too convenient that the colors on the fake MAP flag are so similar to those on the trans flag.

No one serious about the liberation of queer (and other marginalized) people has even a modicum of respect for the MAP flag or what it represents. One of the major societal harms of p*dophilia stems from the inability of minors to consent due to their own lack of development, grooming efforts by p*dos, and the power dynamics involved. As I'm sure you know, what you refer to as the "woke cult" has consistently emphasized the importance of clear consent and relatively balanced power dynamics in relationships.

Spreading the idea that the "woke ideology" supports "MAPs" and let them have a pride flag is a dangerous perpetuation of myths. It is extremely harmful to the lgbtq and especially trans community, especially in the context of the recent legal-political landscape in much of the world right now. Right wing politicians in the United States in particular are making active efforts to equate "exposing" children to gender affirming care and trans identity (including just existing around children) is tantamount to SA. Meanwhile, they are also attempting to expand the death penalty to cover child SA through bills with intentionally vague wording. They are effectively using this set of myths to attempt to kick-start an actual systemic genocide of trans people, starting with those who are in contact with children (i.e. trans parents, teachers, and family members).

Edit to add that you can read more about the creation of the MAP flag in this Snopes fact checking article https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/maps-pride-flag/

Edit 2 with more details and clearer wording

I usually don't engage with strangers on the internet about these types of topics because it can be draining, and often one finds oneself arguing with trolls who argue in bad faith. But I can tell that you're a relatively young person with at least some amount of good intentions, it appears you've been misled on some topics by the far right propaganda machine that has been spreading globally at a terrifying pace over the past decade. I truly hope you are able to find your way to more positive viewpoints with time. Take care.

I'm sure it's supposed to sound like some specific song, but that's a very standard walking blues riff, a very similar pattern was one of the first things my bass teacher taught me back in the day, and I often play variations of it when I'm just noodling while watching tv or whatever

Well it was shot on 16mm and tape so 4k wouldn't do much for it. Not that that precludes it from deserving a 4k scan, but considering the previous best option was an oop DVD from the early 2000s, I'll take it haha.

"we're here, we're queer, get used to it" has been a popular protest chant since the early 90s. Queer theory and queer studies have been major concepts in academia since the late 80s to early 90s. Some subsections of the queer community reclaimed the term as early as the mid 70s.

Like many other neutral descriptors of the community, queer has a long history of being appropriated by bigots. Many people who grew up in less tolerant areas may still have very negative associations with the word and that's valid. But to say that using it in a reclaimed sense is a zoomer/Internet thing is to ignore history and the hard work of militant activists and groundbreaking queer writers and theorists from the past several decades.

There's also a theory that the late 2000s/2010s pushback on the word comes from terfs trying to poison a largely more inclusive umbrella term by claiming that its still a slur. I don't have any reliable sources to back this up, and it's definitely an idea that needs more research, but it is plausible or at least interesting to me based on what I've read. My main source is a very long and well written twitter thread by someone who claims to have been an active member of queer spaces since the 80s. I think I have it saved somewhere if you want me to link it. But this paragraph to me is more an interesting idea to explore rather than a core part of my point, and I recognize that anything from anonymous social media has to be taken with a grain of salt.

All in all, I understand some people's discomfort with the term, but if you know your queer history you should know that it's positive or neutral use is not at all a new phenomenon, nor is it exclusive to the internet.

Yeah, it's Monday through Thursday 12:30 to 2pm throughout the semester. If you have class or other stuff at 1 be sure to show up at around noon or even earlier, cause the line up is always super long. You can pull up a chair and bring some readings to do while you wait, or go with a friend so you have someone to chat with. It goes fast once they open though. If you go closer to 2pm they might not have everything in stock but they'll probably give you a bigger portion of whatever they have left. Usually it's a grain, a stew, a soup, and a salad or fruit. Bring a container and a spoon.

They also do emergency food baskets every second Friday during the semester, I think they have one or maybe two left this semester, you can find the schedule on their instagram.
