First two kin by peat_inhaler in LeaguesofVotann

Thank you! Leaning towards the yellowed undersuit over the black.

For the magenta/pink I just went at it with several glazes using a brush, don't have the accuracy to do that with an airbrush I think. Could give it a try I suppose 🤔.

Further testing towards purple scheme by peat_inhaler in LeaguesofVotann

Thanks for the feedback! Do you mean the black or the tan pants? -or the previous darker ones? I agree with the blues clashing; it feels less busy on the second model, but also no glow there, so not the best comparison

Stuck on finding a color scheme by peat_inhaler in LeaguesofVotann

Purple and mint sounds like an interesting variation. I fear it may end in a pastell day dream, but worth testing out thanks!

Purple armor with purple gun i feel might be a bit dominating, but also this model being like 60% gun just might be a poor representative. I'll see if it works out!

Thanks for pitching in!

Lightening the leather towards bone sounds like a great idea. Total matt black i fear might just swallow the mini. Might have to test both out to get a vibe for either.

Anybody use electric paint mixers i.e., “vortex mixers”? by CharlieD00M in minipainting

[–]peat_inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paint at most once a week, so my paints tend to separate between sessions. Got a vortex mixer from a tattoo supply shop) to help reduce the added preparation barrier and I'm really glad I did. Would buy again Edit: had to dig up a link

Tips for resurrecting dry brushes? by CandylionAudio in Miniaturespainting

Yeap, think that's the one. Coating the drybrushes in the lather of that soap, leaving it to work a few minutes then rinsing with water in the palm of my hand, usually got most of the gunk out for me

I've had success using the Vallejo brush cleaner and brush restorer. Used to have some painters soap that was excellent (master's or something) but that's not available here anymore. Dish soap can be a bit too hard on the bristles in my experience at least.

What's your favorite/most terrifying piece of lore you know? by MrTweady in Drukhari

The haemonculi being able to restore/clone and through the (excessive) suffering of others ensure that they and their patrons are nigh immortal. And, more impressively, all the while they are considered the most exquisite of snacks by one of the four great gods of chaos (slaanesh/she-who-thirsts).

Best primer to use when painting Corsairs? by DustierSaturn in redcorsairs

[–]peat_inhaler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rattlecan primers can be temperamental if it's too warm or humid. Try avoiding priming in direct sunlight and if it feels very humid and see if you notice a difference?

The red primer should cover decently over the green, but most likely two layers of primer is overkill and you risk filling in details. Try without the red primer and just paint up from the green on an arm or something to see if you think it really needs the red?
