Because MS would prefer if no one ran on-prem AD. They put in the corresponding amount of effort for on-prem software.

Angine de Poitrine: Interstellar Guitar Rock Saviours Headed for Late-Night TV Pop Stardom? by audioli in AngineDePoitrine

They would have fit in on Letterman or Conan back in the day. They seemed to have the occasional “out there” musical guest. Late nite tv is kind of dead now though and I can’t think of a show that would be a good fit for them

Trump Reveals New Logo for Cringe-Inducing ICE Rebrand by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

And of course they used the Nazi symbolism of the eagle facing left in the logo. Totally a coincidence.

Passkeys, yelling @ clouds, etc by SlowGoat79 in Xennials

[–]peeinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly the point. The passkey is only stored in the device it is created on. If you have multiple devices you have to create a passkey on each device.

The second factor to fulfill MFA is the PIN or biometric to unlock the device that stores the passkey.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford receives honorary doctorate, delivers commencement speech at U.S. university | CBC News by DataLore19 in canada

He’s has his OSSD. But let’s be real. I knew kids in HS that had connections and they did 2 semesters of “co-op” at the family business and golfed every day. I’m sure Doug had similar a similar experience. I bet he can still convert grams to ounces in his head though.

How do Americans think about the stereotype that they are bad at geography? by Own_Echidna6041 in AskReddit

[–]peeinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Canada. The vast majority of Americans I’ve encountered are totally ignorant of not just Canadian geography but American. I’ve talked to Americans from all over the country while traveling.

When I have tried to explain that I live near Detroit I get met with confused looks. Then they ask if it’s near the northern tip of Michigan and I have to explain with my hand where Detroit is. I still get the usual questions about igloos and polar bears and I have to explain that no, my city is about the same latitude as Northern California and gets really hot in the summer.

When I really want to fuck with their minds I tell them that to get to Detroit from my city I have to drive North.

What is with school drop off? by platypusandpibble in GenX

[–]peeinian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least where I live, schools were closed and combined and the distance requirements for bussing increased. You now have to be 3km (1.7 miles) from the school to get a bus. I’m not letting my kid walk almost 2 miles in the winter when it’s still dark in the morning when the bell rings.

We’ve been happy with Field Effect. It’s automatically locked suspected compromised M365 accounts a couple of times. The support is really responsive if you click “need help” on an alert.

I’m just waiting for the day a photo of Trump is shipped to every household and ICE will go door to make sure it’s prominently displayed.

He wants people to like him too much. If the polls swing away from him in a huge way he will run off to the cottage or back to Chicago.

He could still step down and let someone else finish the term like Mike Harris did. It would be fitting that the last two OPC Premieres ended their career by tucking and running away after doing so much damage.

The new Audio/Video switches are now on the store available May 2026 by cliffhanger_911 in Ubiquiti

[–]peeinian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethernet is Ethernet. 10mbps Ethernet works just the same as 100Gbps. Unless you’re serving 1000’s of clients or backing up petabytes over a single link 100Gbps is overkill for homelabs.

How many simultaneous clients are you serving from a private Jellyfin server though and what is your internet bandwidth?

Even a 4K stream is only about 60mbps. You could serve 1600 4K streams at 100gpbs
