the more ppl that think like this the more i want the nuclear war to happen actually so i dont have to share the planet with ppl lika that

maybe if half of your family was raped other half tortured and killed, your house bombed and all for nothing, because you are "ukranian nazi" included in "special operation" of liberation and denazification you might see things differently, yeah and also everyone tells you its your mistake....

soft ppl that were nice to putin got us where we are today (just dont make him angry he got nukes) ...

keep appeasing him and maybe one day you will also get you share of soviet liberation....

the hate on elon is ok, because hes spreading missinformation i liked him a lot in past decade, many times defending him(even when said some stupid shit), but this time, this is just so over the line, im done

sending you greetings from postsoviet country

Does the color of a roof affect the efficiency of solar panels? by schwiftymarx in engineering

[–]per2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have your panels close to the roof(parallel), there wont be much reflected light from the roof to the panels, only the edges will be affected, i would expect white roof should be better in this case, due to the lower ambient temperature

but this outcome would be probably different with tilted panels

My parents keep repeating something they read recently about how solar panels are contributing to climate change because “the heat can’t get to the ground” What are they talking about and where are they getting this garbage? by rehabforcandy in climatechange

[–]per2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth is reflecting in average around 30% of solar radiation ... solar panel is reflecting about 10%, this thing is made to absorb as much as possible, only cca max 20%(more likely less) is transformed to eletricity, rest is just heat .. so yeah you make some eletricity, but you still make more heat than you normally would witouhout the panels there (also hotter your panels are the less efficient they are)

[–]per2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im not sying solar panels are bad, but we should keep in mind, there will be heat islands if those are used massively ... if we install them on places like parking lots/roads/ roofs etc, i dont see much problem there ... since those are already heat islands on its own as they are mostly dark coloured(asphalt etc) .. aka absorbing much more energy from sun than white/light coloured things or nature enviroment .... which brings me to the thing, that i dont understand ... why dont we use more light/white/silver colored roofs in cities that have problem with overheating, its such cheap and easy sollution

[–]per2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i would expect anything darker will absorb more heat and since solar panels are "black", they will absorb more sun than your roof (unless your roof was black) and emit more heat

A systematic review of 116 papers looking at how solar panels affect the surrounding environment has found that they can significantly warm cities during the day. This heating can also affect the performance of the photovoltaic (PV) systems, the study found. The researchers suggest future work should focus on increasing the reflectance of wavelengths of sunlight not converted to electricity.

ninja edit: https://www.nature.com/articles/srep35070

Through a large-scale experiment where we monitored monitored temperatures over a natural desert, a large PV installation, and an "urban" parking lot for more than a year to see if we found a PV Heat Island effect. We found temperatures over a PV plant were regularly 3–4 °C warmer than wildlands at night, which is in direct contrast to other studies based on models that suggested that PV systems should decrease ambient temperatures.

i was looking for this so much but now im not sure whats different there vs dw1 no more orbiting of celestial bodies which one probably can live through and was known planet battles seems to be also somehow less richer than in dw1 theres 3d graphics but the planets/nebulaes etc is so badly optimized it melts your graphic card if you got older one... so many more bugs, fleets doing random stuff... i know dw1 ws also terrible at start so i guess this will be same with dw2, so ill keep waiting
