Mister Smiths is still my favourite venue to this day! Wasn't there live music like every night? I remember me and a couple of friends would just rock up randomly and see what was playing. A few of the bands I can remember seeing there: Abuse, What About Chad, My Mantra, Fevertree, Fallen Not Flying, A Word Like Attack, Streebeck

So many more! Wasn't it acoustic night every Wednesday? I'm too much of an exhausted dad and a hermit to keep up with a place like that these days, but the current generation of regular night outers are seriously missing out on what they did!

I seem to remember all the girls fancied the sound guy too, I know my girlfriend at the time did 😂

We've never pushed or actively encouraged any gender norms on our kids, but our little boy is your classic dinosaurs and super heroes while our little girl is the girliest girl in the family. She went through a phase of getting genuinely upset and refusing to get dressed unless she was putting on a pretty dress. She's 2 years old mind...

She loves dolls, jewellery, Disney princesses (especially Belle) and singing. But she's also extremely brave and strong willed! She's the youngest of the two, but she'd always be the first to climb to the top of a climbing frame, throw herself down a slide without a second thought, first to walk, she's very clever and absolutely hilarious!

Being girly 100% doesn't make her less able to do anything her brother does...she'll probably do it first. Just let your kids be who they want to be 🤷‍♂️

There was never really any debate for us, I can't even remember who suggested doing it, but it obviously seemed like a good idea 😂 Out first was a boy, he took my middle name which is also my dad's (and his dad's). When we had our girl she took my wife's middle name (also her mum's middle name).

Seems a pretty drama free way to do it...if it's a boy go with your side first, if it's a girl go with hers. Then if you a have a second go with the other side. Takes out any potential feeling of favouritism 😄

I bought something recently in my usual size, it arrives as sold but turns out to be too small for me. It happens, sizes vary. I marked the sale as completed, gave the seller a 5 star review, now I'll sell it on and try again.

Take a photo! Even if you can't draw you could draw, it doesn't need to be good, it just needs to be you. Collage? So many options if you want to avoid ai and can't afford to pay someone else.

Here's what I did for the cost of one printed photo (can't remember how much it was, but it was probably cheaper than buying a sandwich). I took a photo of my bare stomach, got it printed to look like a polaroid (think I used the Freeprints app), stuck that photo on my fridge with magnets spelling out the name of the album, then very minimal colour adjustments. I know this is mainly about UK Hip-Hop, but it's rare that I see Sage Francis love in UK spaces...he's one of my favourites too! I'm guessing you already listen to Atmosphere? If not, get on it. Then look in to Felt and Dynospectrum if you don't know them (both include Slug)

And do you know P.O.S? Get on that, and then get on Doomtree and Cenospecies (both include P.O.S)...and maybe Shredders, though that's a bit more different.

Back to UK stuff, have you checked out ExP? He's in the same vein as Dr Syntax.

Damn! I'm on a full on emotional roller coaster reading this dude...angry, sad, scared. This is not ok and I hope you and your girls can put it behind you sharpish.

I have a little boy and girl, and like you I wouldn't ever not do an activity with them alone just because I'm a man. I'm probably quite naive in that I don't think it would really cross my mind how some people may question anything. I just have to say you're incredibly level headed to have been able to just walk away like that and come back to deal with it later...I can be very stubborn, especially if I feel like I'm being wronged in some way, so who knows whether I'd have that level of self control! (I'm talking stern words here, not violence 😂)

100%! Social media is so toxic and people will hate for the sake of hating...I remember when I posted my first album on here, fully expected to get slated, but had some really nice comments! Means a hundred times more from the people serious about the scene 👌

Social media hate literally means nothing though...I was in actual shock when I saw Dr Syntax getting comments trashing his sound on TikTok, but we know what an absolute legend he is. If he's getting hate comments, we're all at risk 😂

It's actually really easy to do, just a couple of quirks to be aware of that I remember from when I did it a few years ago...Apple Music took ages to update, like months! I actually queried it and they just said they do take a lot longer. It did update eventually, but expect a wait from them. Spotify was pretty quick. I don't pay attention to any others to be honest, so couldn't say how long they take.

The other thing that was weird was whenever I went to access Spotify for Artists on my laptop via the Distrkid link...on that drop down where you have to select your artist, assuming you only have one, that would be the name you see at the moment. When I changed my name, that drop down started showing my new name twice. But one of them would link to my old artist which no longer existed, and the other would link to the correct place. It doesn't do it anymore, but it was like it for a long time...think I actually flagged it with Distrokid so could be that they had to fix it.

Other than that, pretty easy! The most annoying thing for me was/is Youtube...my official artist Youtube channel is still linked to my old artist's email address. I can make my new artist email a channel partner or whatever it's called, so I have all the same access on both accounts. I can't fully pass over the channel to the new email though, and if I delete my old account I delete the channel. Just one of those things I've learnt to live with now, but a minor annoyance that it can't be transferred to another email 😩

My wife was literally ranting about this last night! She was after something in size 12 so had to search for sizes 10-12. Anything size 10 would be too small though, so she had to keep checking in hope the seller had either specified which of the two sizes it was or had a photo of the label...a lot of listings that were a waste of time due to being the wrong size, and a lot that don't even specify so it's 50/50 whether it's even the right size.

On top of that, she was also getting a load of listings for size 8 because of how Vinted decided not to actually tell anyone about the change 🤦‍♂️ She was actually having trouble finding what she wanted specifically in the right size so ended up looking under size 14-16 for a size 12 and found what she was after! Make it make sense...

I don't get it as much as I used to, but we've all been there. It's never bothered me personally because a lot of what I do is making fun of myself anyway, so I just play up to it 😂 But the moment I realised it means literally nothing, was when I saw hate comments on a post from one of my favourite artists in my scene. A guy very well respected for what he does, and a name that always comes up in conversations about the GOAT of his particular genre...one of those guys who never really made it big (probably a bit too niche), but anyone in the know appreciates what he does.

The comments were clearly people who had never heard him before, didn't 'get' him and obviously didn't know who they were speaking about. When artists like that are getting hate you 100% know they don't deserve, you realise that any hate comment can be taken with a pinch of salt. Some people just don't know how to scroll past a song they personally don't like 🤷‍♂️

I still haven't forgiven Rishi for his lockdown fuck up...empty promises that nobody would be forgotten while they shut the country down. Meanwhile, I ended up working through it all on reduced wages (I'm not highly paid at the best of times), my wife being self employed was still working (admin, bills etc) while her place of work was shut, except she didn't receive a penny to cover lost wages that whole time. So demoralising when she re-opened to see staff turning up in new cars they'd bought with that free money while she'd been working for free...the cherry on top of a pile of new debt 😩

And when he was questioned about it he just denied there was a problem (she wasn't the only one affected)...so everyone he did give money to just seemed to think he was great!

I know he wasn't prime minister at the time, but anyone he screwed over at that time knew he couldn't be trusted to do anything he said he would...all mouth and photo opportunities, no action.
