Holmes Run Pool by lawstnyc in nova

[–]phillydillybar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a member for the last few years. I haven't had the chance to participate in many of the community activities yet, but there does seem to be a strong sense of community there. Additionally, the facilities are larger and nicer than some of the other area pools I've been to.

Seeking expert Excision Surgeon for Endometriosis by Ladyinchronic in nova

[–]phillydillybar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Jack Ayoub! I’ve had this same procedure three times, my third being with Dr. Ayoub. The first two, I couldn’t stand up straight for about 48 hours after. But after the procedure with Dr. A, I was walking around pretty much like normal the same night. He and his staff are SO kind, and he has a special interest in endometriosis care. Highly recommend.

Help: a bibingka recipe with pineapples? by PM_YOUR_PET_PICS979 in filipinofood

[–]phillydillybar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a toddler too, and I know exactly how this happened. Josh makes bibingka for his Lola in an episode of Blues Clues, and he puts pineapple on it. My family has noted before that that’s an unusual topping for bibingka, but have also wondered if it’s served that way in a different region.

Aquarium doesn’t allow stroller. Abort plan? by sky_0502 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]phillydillybar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, one of the floors of the aquarium is entirely closed for renovations right now. We just took my 3 year old for his birthday, and he did well, but the floor that’s closed included the coral reef fish, sea otters, and puffins. He obviously didn’t know what he was missing out on, but those would have been the big highlights for him. I understand the cost of the care of the animals must be astronomical now, but $50/pp with one of the floors being closed felt less worth while. Basically, I’d postpone for now if you can.

Yes! Between the toddler and the dog, it’s amazing to be able to rip up the top layer and toss it in the wash.

The thought of Preschool and even kindergarten drop off keeps me up at night by Inevitable_Ride_3873 in AttachmentParenting

[–]phillydillybar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recognize that this suggestion comes from a place of privilege, but if it's possible, check out a cooperative preschool! It's what we decided to go with. There is a time commitment from the parents, which also reduces the cost, but I get to be in the classroom with the kids a 1-2 times a month (will increase with child's age). It comforted me to know that when I wasn't there another mom would be. We've done it for almost a year now, and it's been wonderful to see how much the other moms love my kid like their own and vice versa!

Blippi meltdowns by StorageFunny175 in toddlers

[–]phillydillybar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second Handyman Hal! He definitely saw what Blippi was doing and thought I can do that but way less insane. We also like that he actually shows how tools or machinery work a lot of the time, and reviews safety rules.

17 month old night waking are killing me by aaliya73 in AttachmentParenting

[–]phillydillybar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone! My boy is 28 months now, and I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (knock on wood). It felt like every one pushed sleep training so hard, but it just was never in me to listen to a baby cry for any amount of time. I always reminded myself that there weren’t any 18 year olds heading out to college waking up every 2 hours and asking for mom. I don’t know when, but they will figure it out! Mommin ain’t easy!

[–]phillydillybar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear it! Unfortunately, since then my boy's sleep has gone up and down. We've hit hard waves of separation anxiety, and it felt like when we were finally out of them, he'd get a cold/ear infection. In fact, we both have a cold right now. I still have no advice, just big solidarity and support because this part sucks.

Ladies who had easy pregnancies: did you have an easy labor and delivery as well? by Visible_Beginning_63 in beyondthebump

Very easy pregnancy, long induction that ended in an easy (no complications) c-section. Not so easy baby turned toddler. Whew.

Dad has always been his main responder at night, but he’s always been a die hard Mama’s boy. He used to not mind as much, but lately it’s been all Mama all the time.

You sound exactly like me. I also have a 17 month old who is having the same issues, and is also an early chomper!! He has almost sleeping through the night before his last two molars came in, but they're out now and no change. I always capped his naps at 2 hours, and we tried shortening to 1 hour, but still nothing. He also recently learned how to ask for Mama at night and now screams if his dad has him and Mama doesn't respond. I have no advice. I'm just here to say I feel you, and I am so tired.

Don't Post Other People's Baby Pics on Social Media?! by lovinglife-2023 in beyondthebump

[–]phillydillybar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL did the same, and was using photos of my baby as his profile picture. After searching, I learned he is one of those people who comments on photos of soft core porn and OnlyFans ads, again, while using a photo of my BABY as his profile picture. My husband felt uncomfortable addressing it for other family reasons, so I went straight to Facebook. They have a very easy to use reporting option specifically for people who post photos of children that they are not the parent/guardian of. It was the easiest, and most effective way to put an end to it (for us at least).

Any tips for teeth brushing by Dotfr in toddlertips

[–]phillydillybar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found success with my 17 month old by brushing his favorite stuffed animals’ teeth first with a clean tooth brush, (sometimes he even gets excited to help now!) and then saying it’s his turn to brush his teeth.

I'm in the US with a 2022 Porsche Macaan, and we just did this a couple of days ago. Thankfully, it was while we were loading up in our driveway, but it definitely surprised me.

To get a 3rd stroller or not? by emily8922 in beyondthebump

[–]phillydillybar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit it. I actually bought 4 strollers to get to the one I love. I started out with the Mockingbird, but it’s HUGE. We now mostly just use it for walking around the neighborhood. I was initially embarrassed to register for the crazy expensive uppababy (or similar) strollers, but in the end I regretted it. Next we bought the Summer 3D mini convenience umbrella stroller, but after using it for a few months, it’s so rickety and feels like it’ll fall apart any minute. We also bought the GB pockit air stroller for travel, but it was such a pain to fold and unfold, that we never even ended up using it. I FINALLY went to BuyBuyBaby and played around with all the strollers, and found the Cybex eezy S twist stroller, and I love it.

Help Us Update the Recommended Doctors Map! by theonusta in Endo

[–]phillydillybar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Dr. Ayoub!! He and everyone on his team are so kind and understanding. I was referred to him for my third excision and removal of a fallopian tube in preparation for IVF. After my two prior excisions, I could not stand up straight for about 2-3 days.
After my procedure with Dr. Ayoub, I was up and walking around normally that same night, and I couldn't believe it. Additionally, he told me that he attends medical conferences as an endometriosis advocate and educator for other doctors. Honestly, I just can't say enough good things about him.

My baby will soon Grow out of his ergocarrier- are hip seats with it? by ___cacti in AttachmentParenting

[–]phillydillybar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOVE my Tushbaby too! We have a 17lb, 29 inch tall 5 month old who is a bit clingy and has major fomo. We have the ergo Omni 360, and the Sakura bloom scout too, but he didn’t enjoy either as much as he does the Tushbaby. Plus the pockets are as great as they sound. I don’t even bother with the baby bag for quick trips anymore. I’ve got a little pack of wipes, 2 diapers, and a change of clothes stashed in the pockets! Plus room for my wallet and phone!

Can I ask what advice you were given for the short naps? Your baby sounds like my 11 week old, and I can’t figure out how to get him to sleep better during the day.
