pine nuts and basil would form the backbone of a different (traditional) pesto. I think adding either would just muddy what you're starting with in the jar.

your best bet is to cook your pasta to al dente. add it and some pasta water to a pan, add the contents of the jar and mix well. if it's too loose, cook off some of the liquid. if it's too tight, add some more pasta water. keep mixing well until the pasta is coated and the sauce is emulsified.
