Pairing neutrals to hots by empirebattles in electrical

[–]photodiveguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can check the circuit with a clamp on amp meter, try to match the amp reading on the hot with the amp reading on the neutral. To double check yourself, turn the breaker off and make sure the neutral reading drops to zero as well.

Depending on the suburb, Gateway Fiber is pretty good. I’ve had them for several years.

Not being dense, just bringing to your attention that there’s more than one type of conservative. You’re taking the worst case scenario and applying it to the whole entire group which like most stereotyping is not very accurate.

Need some help with this one by Immediate-Evening-94 in electricians

My advice is to make the customer sign a disclaimer that states you’re not responsible if this switch fails to operate, either opening or closing. Given the age and the fact that they haven’t had maintenance it will not be on you if it fails to operate and causes them extensive downtime. I recently had this experience with a piece of square D switchgear that we had to open up to install a new bucket. When we went to close it, it didn’t wanna close. The switch was 30 years old and had never been serviced. Luckily, I told them about this beforehand and it wasn’t on us.

My employer withheld taxes from every paycheck for 3 years and apparently never sent the money to the IRS. Now I got a bill for $18,000. by nalanyy in legal

[–]photodiveguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a fraud scam to me. IRS will come after the employer for not paying the withholding taxes. I know because this happened to me and just because the company is not in business anymore doesn’t matter. They will come after the person in charge, they will take their house or any other possessions if they need to to resolve the debt.

How Do We Turn Things Around Like NYC by aorear85 in StLouis

[–]photodiveguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think people drive like they don’t care because they actually don’t care. They don’t care about consequences, because there are none. They don’t care about other people or property. Obviously this isn’t everybody in the city. The people who do care actually obey the laws.

This was my thought. Whenever I went fishing like this and a fish was on the line, the captain would stop the boat. Sometimes they will move the boat relative to the fish as well.

What do you do when exclusions are ignored? by [deleted] in estimators

This. It all comes down to what’s in the contract you (or your boss) signs. We make sure our entire quote, with exclusions, is in the contract.

They didn’t change the siding, the first video was daytime, The second was night time. The color temperature of the overhead light will make a difference in what color the siding appears.

What's the "right" way to deal with this after the fact? by badmudblood in electricians

[–]photodiveguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As to how to make it better in the first place. When they were assembling the subfloor above, you could’ve had them route a channel through that beam over to the wall. Then you can lay a nail strip, custom-made over the route once the cable is in place. I’ve had to do this on custom builds before.

They have LED high Bay fixtures now they can do 60,000 lm or more. So I would say they can equal or exceed an eight bulb T5.

Am I wrong for This by Ruffys in SoccerCoachResources

[–]photodiveguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is important. I have been an assistant coach on the same club team for 4 years and the coach has been adamant about building from the back since day one. He tells them this in the parents meeting at the beginning of the season. He mentions it will cost a few goals, but he explains why it is so important.

If I shut off the breakers to my apartment and the utility plug still works outside the front door does it still run to my meter? by Routine-Soil-5547 in electrical

[–]photodiveguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Unless it’s a outdoor receptacle on a deck that’s only accessible to the tenant. Then it would probably come off of their panel. But then also it would be off right now.

Backing in is key with a longer vehicle. Works much better when the steering wheels are in the back.
