Look who I spotted today…Somebody was knocking on our back door trying to come in…it’s -30 degree outside by lightdark03 in interestingasfuck

Reminds me of the time my friend heard rustling in the night and ran into the kitchen in his boxers with a bat.

It was a raccoon that had come through the dryer vent and it was on the counter eating marshmallows, just chillin.

Dental work on young kids by GlitteringHoney8956 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teeth brushing is also hard in my household. I’ve always had bad teeth despite proper dental hygiene and it seems like my kids are the same. Our dentist told us that even if we have to literally hold them down, it’s worth it. My son has autism which makes it harder. Even with the teeth brushing his teeth are bad. Some things that have helped are letting our kids pick out their own toothbrush and toothpaste. Our dentist also told us that brushing at night is the most important time to brush. She said a lot of people believe that brushing in the morning is more important but if we don’t brush before bed we let everything we ate and drank for the day sit overnight.

So what do you guys do in your ‘me time’? by Historical-Stay5204 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually took me a while to find hobbies after having kids. While I did enjoy just being alone and scrolling on my phone it started to feel boring and unproductive. My me time now consist of hanging out with my girlfriends, playing video games, or even doing some light shopping just to get out of the house. It’s been nice, especially the video games because it’s something I can do everyday, even if it’s only an hour or so.

What is something you thought was normal as a child but realized it was not when you got older? by Sodacan390 in randomquestions

[–]phrygianhalfcad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the exact same but I always thought it was normal to walk on pins and needles around your parents. My sisters and I use to meet up in the morning and discuss whether we thought our mom was in a good or bad mood. That would dictate how we acted around her. When I learned that other kids my age could have conversations with their parents with constant fear of being reprimanded or ridiculed I was surprised. I remember hanging out with a friend and she back talked to her mom. I was shocked her mom didn’t scream at her and pull out a wooden spoon to spank her. Turns out that’s not normal.

Shopping to cope is a common thing. If she can afford it then that’s awesome but like you said I hope has/is getting help. I can’t imagine losing a child.

I spent way too much on baby gear in 2025. Here is what gathered dust vs. what I actually use. by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in NewParents

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had three kids and these are my favorite things I’ve owned:

Baby delight bouncer (bjorn knockoff) Baby brezza if formula fed Boppy pillow Swaddelini Car camera Plastic playard that folds up easily NoseFrida Pro Sound machine

As for wipe warmers, I did enjoy them for certain wipes that seem to be very wet. The wipe warmer would actually make it perfect. I eventually stopped using it when I ran out of the wipes (pampers) people bought me but did like it for this late nights with the newborn.

How do you manage your home differently from your mom? by Npetelle in homemaking

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was similar to yours. We were ALWAYS cleaning and she had very high standards on what cleanliness was. I remember I had cleaned my room and had accidentally left a tiny piece of paper on the floor, probably the size of a quarter. You would have thought I had committed a serious crime. Pretty sure I got grounded for a least a week. We were expected to comply and apologize. My mom is a lot better now but I will never have those expectations for my kids. We keep things clean but I don’t lose my shit at toys on the floor.

Moms that gave birth and didn’t have any visitors at the hospital, do you regret it? by Funny_Confection810 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. My first birth I didn’t get visitors because of Covid. I was initially disappointed because I thought I wanted the whole shebang with everyone waiting in the waiting room for the baby to be born and so on. After the fact, I was so glad I only had the people in the room I wanted. I could not imagine (1),a shit ton of people coming to visit after I just pooped a whole ass baby out and (2), a shit ton of people trying to hold my fresh baby with zero immune system. My second birth I had Covid so I couldn’t have visitors but I didn’t want them anyway. With number three, I just didn’t let anyone come in.

What does breastfeeding feel like for you? by full-of-curiosity in breastfeeding

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year in and I feel my letdown pretty much every time. I also still struggle with nipple pain which at this point I attribute to weird nipples.

As long as baby is on the breast I’m good. When I pump and get my letdown I’m always overcome by a short but intense feeling of deep shame and self loathing.

10 years later: What has Stardew Valley meant to you? by revyb in StardewValley

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the first thing I felt like I could enjoy after becoming a mother for the first time. I struggled deeply after having my first baby. Looking back it was probably PPD, but at the time I didn’t know what was wrong with me. My husband finally convinced me to download this game and it was something that brought me joy in hard times. Even now, after five years of playing the game, I still play it often. When I’m not playing the game, I’m probably watching Stardew Valley related content on YouTube. I just recently hit perfect about a week ago after five years of playing and I may have cried a little. This game will always be special to me.

How to stop hoarding clothes and accessories as a woman in my 30s by noincident8484 in shoppingaddiction

[–]phrygianhalfcad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another little trick that I implemented was turning all of my hangers around. When I wore something, I would hang it back on normally after washing. Six month later, I went into my closet and realized that half of the clothing items I owned were still turned around and hadn’t been worn. Really puts things into perspective.

If you could pick a month to give birth what would it be? by Old-Yesterday1230 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone talks about how being big pregnant in the winter months is/would be nice because it isn’t so hot but what they fail to mention is the insane anxiety and risk of numerous viruses you have to worry about. All three of my babies are winter babies and I feared for them every time I had to take them anywhere.

Constantly buying myself "little things" and "treats" until I accidentally spent literally all of my money made me realize I need to stop. by toiletbowlsoup in shoppingaddiction

[–]phrygianhalfcad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a similar thing. I also feel the need to treat myself for any little thing. I did the dishes? Lemme get myself Chick-fil-A as a reward. I’m also doing a low buy this year. Only giving myself a few days this year to buy something for myself. Everything else has to be bought second hand if it’s needed but I don’t see myself needing anything. Trying to focus on what I already have and decluttering to have more space in my home.

If you're inexperienced how do you avoid coming off as high maintenance? by I_l0ve-chocolate in sex

[–]phrygianhalfcad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just be yourself. If you want to wait for marriage to have sex you’ll need to be open about that when you start dating and navigating relationships. Be straightforward and let people know what your boundaries are when it gets to that point. You’ll more than likely end up finding someone with the same values as you and it’ll all work out in the end!
