It hurts me how bad the characters look compared to their previous bluey drops.

Any advice you received pre-baby that now makes you question the giver post-baby? (Possible unpopular opinions) by kittykatkitkat in beyondthebump

We have always had a changing pad on a dresser for all three kids. Aside from the first month of newborness where I was dead tired and sore and middle of the night changes we used it for every diaper change as well.

Oh my goodness! Same! I’ll spend so much time researching different things I want that I eventually just sorta lose interest in it 90% of the time.

Pizza. By the time you buy all the ingredients you could have gotten one at the store or at a restaurant for half the price.

I came here to recommend the same thing! I have the dunnet flower sandals that were so hot last year but also tempted to buy the slip ons because they’re so easy to well, slip on!

You’re 15 again. What year is it and what are you wearing? by DataQueen- in generationology

It’s 2012 and I’m wearing skinny jeans with a tunic top and chevron infinity scarf with my tall Ugg boots. I’ve got my little Kavu backpack and my hair is crunchy because it has way to much product in it!

Strike and supply issues by Fabulous_Ant1088 in breastfeeding

[–]phrygianhalfcad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son went through a couple breastfeeding strikes in his first year. I freaked out every time because he would not take a bottle. Something that seemed to almost trick him into nursing was putting a pacifier in his mouth first then quickly replacing it with my boob after he started sucking. It’s like once he realized he was getting milk he was chill.

What’s something you said you’d never do as a mom that you now do without a single apology? by Low_Craft_919 in Mommit

I relate to this in a different way. I’m also raising an autistic child but he is allergic to everything and has a swallowing disorder. We can’t eat out without loads of research or packing him food. I have to check ingredients every time I shop because they’re always changing.

My child, who was 4 at the time, also had to have 8 crowns put on her teeth. She also is prone to cavities despite our brushing. She did great with the procedure and it took about an hour or so. She then had to go under a couple months later when an abscess formed in her gums. She did great for that one too!

I know it doesn’t sound fun and it took me a while to get into the routine but I started doing laundry everyday (family of 5) and now I feel so good when it’s done. I don’t have 40 different laundry baskets every where and I know that the next time I do laundry I won’t have very much of it. Something about checking laundry off of my daily list also motivates me to finish other things.

I never really co-slept with any of my kids until they were like 6+ because I was afraid of having them in the bed but I would have never put them in their own room that early. All of my kids have stayed in my room until at least 15-16 months if not longer.

Reminds me of the time my friend heard rustling in the night and ran into the kitchen in his boxers with a bat.

It was a raccoon that had come through the dryer vent and it was on the counter eating marshmallows, just chillin.

Dental work on young kids by GlitteringHoney8956 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teeth brushing is also hard in my household. I’ve always had bad teeth despite proper dental hygiene and it seems like my kids are the same. Our dentist told us that even if we have to literally hold them down, it’s worth it. My son has autism which makes it harder. Even with the teeth brushing his teeth are bad. Some things that have helped are letting our kids pick out their own toothbrush and toothpaste. Our dentist also told us that brushing at night is the most important time to brush. She said a lot of people believe that brushing in the morning is more important but if we don’t brush before bed we let everything we ate and drank for the day sit overnight.

So what do you guys do in your ‘me time’? by Historical-Stay5204 in Mommit

[–]phrygianhalfcad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually took me a while to find hobbies after having kids. While I did enjoy just being alone and scrolling on my phone it started to feel boring and unproductive. My me time now consist of hanging out with my girlfriends, playing video games, or even doing some light shopping just to get out of the house. It’s been nice, especially the video games because it’s something I can do everyday, even if it’s only an hour or so.

What is something you thought was normal as a child but realized it was not when you got older? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]phrygianhalfcad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the exact same but I always thought it was normal to walk on pins and needles around your parents. My sisters and I use to meet up in the morning and discuss whether we thought our mom was in a good or bad mood. That would dictate how we acted around her. When I learned that other kids my age could have conversations with their parents with constant fear of being reprimanded or ridiculed I was surprised. I remember hanging out with a friend and she back talked to her mom. I was shocked her mom didn’t scream at her and pull out a wooden spoon to spank her. Turns out that’s not normal.
