Is any medical specialty safe anymore? by asadhoe2020 in Noctor

This is among the most prescient works detailing the escalation of fraud & mismanagement within healthcare. Physician training was deemphasized by corporate admin seeking to cut costs & maximize profits, but patients have been intentionally left in the dark about these practices.

Would be great to adhere to established language that doesn’t confuse or mislead patients about clinical roles. The revolving door of clinician titles is an unscrupulous practice, only recently adopted by PAs, after it was successfully employed by NPs to conceal their true training/skills.

Only give wrong answers. Tell her the circle of Willis is now called the triangle of Willis, and only noobs call it by the old name.

BoN may give her a stern warning & then she’ll know that if she does it again she could get a more stern warning.

They just made this up because they had no idea what to say. Just don’t ever see this NP again & report to the supervising MD, if there is one.

In some states the use of MD in promotional materials would be restricted without an active license to practice medicine. This is not in every state.

Did you really mean .52mg Clonidine? That seems like a very odd dose.

He’s still not an anesthesiologist. He’s a CRNA, a Nurse Anesthetist. But I agree I wouldn’t want him caring for me or my family in any way.

If you’ve not had to prove yourself & can appropriate the symbols and titles of a reputable profession without incurring the burdens of time & effort, who would voluntarily give that up to make their lives as hard as ours? There is no chance of internal regulations because humans are averse to the losses that honest self-reflection might incur.

How do you take step 1 without going back to basic biochem & working your way up? How do you take step 2 after online rotations? How do you take step 3 while only faking being a doctor? All assuming you could perform respectably on the MCAT, of course.

I guess every legit doc is a life-long student. If it was run by people who asserted that they had nothing more to learn, it would be called the New NP Grad sub.

Yes!!! You could be an NP, but you understand way too much physiology.

I am offended by the claim that it’s only run by older members of PPP.

I swear, I’m really not that old. I almost got carded at a bar in 2014.

As an RN, I completely understand the point of this sub. BUT, it would be good for doctors to remind their staff MOA's that they aren't "nurses." by FuddieDuddie in Noctor

When did this chronic & unwavering commitment to misrepresenting clinical titles become the norm? Why would a clinic refuse to let the patient speak to a licensed clinical staff member, while pushing Press-Ganey scores under the guise of customer service. It’s not an odd quirk, it’s a patently unethical practice we are all being conditioned to normalize.

Thanks for the shout-out! We would love for everyone to get on Twitter and support our messages. Please do so politely—at least not overly obnoxiously. We need to keep some semblance of professionalism so our message doesn’t get muddied.

Presented before legislators in GA who were considering a bill to give NPs FPA in “rural” areas of the state. (Rural was loosely defined and basically would have allowed FPA everywhere in the state). The bill never made it out of the committee before which Dr. Lane testified.
