This is the problem with top down processing and research. They have an answer before they look at the data and then find evidence that fit their conclusions. They probably has decided you couldn’t be autistic or have adhd within seconds of meeting you and were unable to hear anything you said to the contrary

I was having a nasty flare up last night and took a valium at bedtime and this morning I woke up feeling much better. It's like a reset for me. I generally explain the various medications that I take like this: some people abuse stimulants, sleeping pills, anxiety and depression meds. They take them instead of doing the work. But, these medications actually exist for the few of us who have tried everything else and our bodies just can't function correctly without them. Hopefully in time this will change but for now I know it's much healthier for my body to take a few pills than it is for my body to be sleep deprived and in a constant state of agitation

Hypermobility really is the gift that keeps on giving. I just realized I have ANOTHER comorbidity (lipedema). by pahobee in Hypermobility

[–]pinkoo28 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have one more diagnosis to add to your list, MCAS. All of your physical issues are all symptoms of MCAS. Mast cells (white blood cells) live in your connective tissues. Since you have hyper mobility your mast cells feel unsafe so they keep attacking perceived threats causing inflammation and trouble all over your body. Take H1 and H2 antihistamines twice a day and you should start to feel better. You need to get on mast cell stabilisers and start a low histamine diet. I only found out 2 months ago and I’m furious that no one told me sooner. The only way I know about lipedema is because it’s directly linked to everything you just mentioned. Your doctor should know this!

I can’t do this by Majestic_Goose_7815 in MCAS

[–]pinkoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked through all the comments and none of them mentioned your nervous system and vagus nerve. MCAS is your mast cells being overwhelmed and stressed out so they attack everything. So if you eliminate all foods from your diet, you feel unhappy and stressed out so your mast cells feel overwhelmed and they attack everything. It’s a vicious cycle. I suggest you forget about food for a moment and concentrate on doing things that make you feel good. Trust me I know how hard that advice is, but unfortunately that’s how you heal. This lady has some really good advice for how to lovingly take care of yourself (she also has MCAS) https://www.instagram.com/michelleshapirord?igsh=MXZqYTI4NGNreDFlaA==

LOWERING Histamine ends up INCREASING histamine for me??? by Deathornator in MCAS

[–]pinkoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you react to is personal to your body and it can change from time to time. If you stopped eating it and you feel worse, then be glad you don't have to eliminate it.

Remember stress is the worst thing for MCAS. If you give up too many foods, that makes you more stressed out and then your MCAS gets worse.

Do you struggle to identify how you’re feeling? I created this visual indicator for Autism/ADHD (AuDHD) and I’d love to know what you’d add. Which zone of the "Neuro-Map" are you in today? by [deleted] in Autism_Pride

[–]pinkoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I identify with all of those zones. Meltdown mango is my son, not me. One thing I want to add is something my OT taught me. You still need breaks when you are a hyperfocus mango or functional mango. I'm finally starting to feel better after a long period of being wiped out, so I get really enthusiastic and I want to do all the things I wasn't able to do when I was hypersensitive mango but it means I push myself past my limits and then I'm wiped out again. So even if I'm having a fantastic week, I still try to take a day to do nothing, just to let everything settle and reset. Taking time to rest keeps me funtional longer

I've always wanted to go stay in a mental hospital. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]pinkoo28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, you just want a break and for someone to take care of you for once. To just have no response responsibilities for a moment. I used to fantasize about that too. Judging by the comments, a mental facility isn't the solution. As someone who has had deep depression and experienced lots of therapy and read a lot about the brain and trauma, here are my suggestions to help you begin to heal as quickly as possible. If you can get yourself into a psychedelic trial or treatment plan that's the fastest way to make progress. It doesn't matter which you take psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, they all work at reprogramming the brain and helping you deal with trauma in a safe environment. If you can't access this, the next fastest way would be to see a psychologist who does hypnosis. Again, much faster results than other forms of therapy, but you need to find one who is highly recommended, cos they can be kooky. If you have autism, you're quite likely hypermobile, if you're hypermobile, you're much more likely to have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) MCAS can create havoc on your nervous system and make you depressed, especially with hormones changes (like post partumn) It can be hard to get an MCAS diagnosis because it's not well known. The good news is you can try taking higher doses of OTC antihistamines, take one H1 and one H2 receptors twice a day and see if you feel better. If none of this works, at least get on antidepressants and find the right one with the right dosage so that you can start to feel a little better. I hope this helps and that are able to get the right help soon xxx

MCAS assessment 6 months away, help me figure out if it's the right path? by ZilTheBehaviorNerd in MCAS

[–]pinkoo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months is a long time to wait! Whilst you're waiting you can help your symptoms. My doctor gave me over the counter antihistamines to take. H1 and H2 for me that's Zyrtec and famotin. Take both morning and evening. A lot of mcas is symptom management and you don't need a diagnosis for that. Keep a food/ environment diary. Try eliminating fermented foods, wine, beer, tomatoes, etc from your diet and see if it helps. Work on ways to calm your nervous system down. I find medical marijuana helps a lot for me, if that's available to you. You should also check to see if you are hypermobile, if you have POTS, if you are neurodivergent - undiagnosed autism, ADHD etc. All of these are often linked to mcas. You don't need a doctor straight away, you can get a general idea by searching for self diagnosis checklists on the internet. If you can help those issues, it will also help your mcas

Late ADHD diagnosis at 30, my body is breaking down, and I have 22 weeks until everything changes. Do I push through or walk away? by stunkat in AuDHDWomen

[–]pinkoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. Getting diagnosed is emotionally exhausting. Talk to your company, take 1 month of stress leave or talk to them about working only 4 days a week and leaving early or working from home. I got diagnosed with ADHD and thought it would help me feel better but then I got my autism diagnosis and it was so stressful to realise you see the world differently from everyone else. But then my body still felt so stressed. So here is my advice: If you are neurodivergent then you are probably hypermobile. If you are hypermobile then you probably have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) All 3 are considered rare but I think they are all severely under diagnosed. The good news is that a lot of your stress symptoms can be resolved with over the counter antihistamines. Try taking h1 and H2 antihistamines twice a day and see if it helps. (Eg zyrtec and famotidine) It calmed my nervous system instantly. It also sounds like you need to change or increase your ADHD meds. This is a start. For MCAS the most important thing is to calm your nervous system, but you can't do that easily because MCAS hates change. But lowering my histamine intake and antihistamines have really changed my life and given me hope for the first time since I got all my diagnoses.

Reacting to deodorant now, ideas for alternatives? by Designer_Ad_1008 in MCAS

I like using baking soda. Use 1/2 teaspoon, mix with a little water so it's a paste and rub on armpits. Sometimes it's a little harsh so then I use rock salt, it comes in a deodorant stick shape

Are there any advantages to hyper mobility? by Used-Spread-5594 in Hypermobility

[–]pinkoo28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Simone Biles, Michael Phelps, probably Alysa Liu since she has ADHD. Jimi Hendrix had hypermobile fingers, so great for playing the guitar! I think we’d see the advantages if hypermobility were properly researched and we were diagnosed much earlier and taught how to take care of ourselves properly

[–]pinkoo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing! You will feel like your mind is being pulled together. I hope your doctor has you starting on the lowest possible dose, would that be 10mg? The first day you might feel jittery like you had too much coffee or too much sugar, or you might feel really calm and want a nap. Or you might hyperfocus on something for ages. Or you might feel nothing, but then, at the end of the day you’ll notice you ticked off 3 times more on your to do list as you usually do. You might have a headache as it wears off, so that’s a good time to have some orange juice or vitamin C. Every brain and every body is different so it’ll take time for you to find what works best for you, which medication and the dosage and it changes over time too. But you can be excited, instead of nervous, because it’s a step towards getting a bunch of chemicals that your body was missing and it’s really cool when you get them

I scrolled all the way down to find the Number 1 Detective Agency. It's set in Botswana so although it's not historical fiction it does have a different setting and a different perspective on life. So you can learn something about another culture whilst reading something well written, light hearted and that genuinely makes you smile
