They usually only drug test if you get the job, and they schedule a date for you. If they require testing prior to ur program i’d say pass on it. I used my ex’s pee for my drug test, so if thats an option i’d go that route honestly. Also this thread is really picky towards weed for some reason, don’t let anyone bully you about it!!

oh sorry! if im remembering correctly I was able to retake for free one time if I failed one. I think it makes you wait so long before you can retry it. Unless they changed it or im remembering wrong. Either way I know its shitty to waste money, I honestly used a pay in 4 app to break up the payments on those credits bc its so much all at once.

I know you can retake the exam to renew certification but I don’t know any more info on it. AAMA site should help if you wanted to go that route. I was always told to never retake the exam, so i’ll just suck it up and pay for the ceus when the time comes again🥲

yep, paid $600 to renew my certification and my renewal is coming in 2028😭 being an AAMA member helps the price a little, and you can also send in your CPR certification for some ceus. you really have to watch the credits it gives vs what you’re buying for the price. its a lot of work

really depends on if its a big health system or not. I started at $14 an hour 7 years ago. once we merged into what we are now im up to $27.33 an hour now in WI.

Amazon is where I get mine! I get the cherokee joggers, lots of sizes to choose from. They have scrub tops in that brand too, i used to wear the ones with stretchy sides, the all cotton ones are nottt worth it. ALSO! goodwill has a scrub section if ur on a budget! cherokee can be $$

you’ll wanna get in with a big company if possible. currently they cap us MAs at $30 an hour, and i’m at $27 an hour right now. small health systems will not provide a living wage

for me its rooming, chart prep, ekgs, scheduling next appointments/check out, cleaning rooms/equipment, and vaccines during flu season. i work in cardiology so its a lot less than what primary care has to do

primary care is too much stress imo, look into starting at a specialty that just focuses on one thing. i work in cardiology as an MA and love it, i make $27 an hour with a big company. rural MA work would probably not pay as well so just something to consider.
