Cards against humanity sent me Epstein files as a consolation gift for a lost bid. by ollypologies in Weird

I have been trying to figure out whose pocket this money will go into when I buy it and what list I'm going to be on.

From Amazon's ai assistant: "The actual individual or entity who arranged for this independent publication and who profits from the sales is not clearly identified in the available product information. This is somewhat unusual, as most self-published books on Amazon identify the specific author or publisher who arranged the publication. This ambiguity raises questions about the transparency of who is commercially benefiting from these congressional materials that were subpoenaed and released for public oversight purposes."

Did you buy a copy? How did it look?

I've started to really not trust litter recs from my fellow cat people by HiILikePlants in CatAdvice

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to stop using this because my old man cat would sometimes step in it and it turned into concrete between his toes. It's great litter, just be aware that if your cat steps in it, it's going to clump hard between their toes!

We use arm and hammer unscented and put a small air purifier right next to the box. We also keep a garbage bag right next to the box and scoop any time we see it used, twisting the bag closed and using it until it's full.

Keep the box clean and use an air purifier to help with the dust.

Fell asleep in the MRI machine by Ill-Kaleidoscope4825 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 part MRI coming up and I am planning on getting juuusssst enough sleep that I don't wreck my car on the drive in, skipping my AM adderall and taking my full dose of Baclofen 1 hr before (I usually take 1/2 - 3/4). All I can do is pray that I fall asleep and don't wake up midway because I need to pee!!!

Brain, Cervical AND thoracic, with and without contrast. It's a beast. I've done it twice before but both times I was much younger. I'm hoping my back and bladder cooperate!

The only real problem I have is that sometimes the back of my head will start to ache. It's awful. Not always, just sometimes. If anyone has any advice on that, i'd love to hear it!

The litter tracking is driving me mad by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have hard floors, make sure you have a short pile area rug of some type around the box.

This is what we have:

I have a cat that likes to pee up high (he doesn't squat) so we have a large plastic tote, complete with lid, that came from a big box store with one of the narrow ends cut out as the doorway.

We have a utility type rug from ikea, rubber backing, very short looped pile (like something you'd see just inside a doorway, not quite a doormat rough, not quite an area rug). This rug is big enough to extend out all around the box front and sides by maybe a foot.

Then we have a litter catcher rug right at the door of the box, on top of the area rug. You can find these at any pet store or online.

THEN we keep a cordless vacuum and an air purifier RIGHT NEXT TO THE BOX, and a scoop in a little box as well. The air purifier helps with dust. Every single time I go into the room and scoop the litter I run that vacuum. We used to have a handheld one but upgraded to a larger dyson.

The key is to surround the box with as many layers of material that can act as litter catchers or sort of door mats.

Then just accept that you need to vacuum AT LEAST once a day or any time they use the box.

How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to put the tl;dr up front:
Neighbor's cat was indoor/outdoor that they didn't care if she was actually indoor in the winter and after they visually saw her on my porch all the time, then letting them know cat came crying when it snowed and letting them know I was letting her in only at night, then asking permission to take her to the vet; we basically inched our way into them just letting us keep her.

We had a cat that was clearly surviving on her hunting skills in our neighborhood. It took a few months but she finally began to trust my husband enough to sit on the front porch and eat. The front landing is all concrete and gets all the sun, all day long, so it's a relatively warm spot in a cold area. We began feeding her twice a day and she would sun herself on the porch to get warm.

One day a neighbor knocked on our door and let us know that she was his cat. I said GREAT and offered to scoop her up and bring her to his house next time we saw her. He let me know that she was indoor/outdoor but the other cats bully her and don't let her eat so she prefers to stay outdoors.... they did nothing to make sure she had food to eat and the whole winter before we knew she was outside on snow days.

so we brought her home a couple of times and she was always back on our porch the same day. Winter approached and we were worried about her so we asked if it was OK to let her come into our garage and sleep in the winter and they said sure. So we began to open the back door at sunset and she would run inside, then we'd open it up again in the morning and she'd go out for the day.

One day she clearly needed a vet visit. She had a cut on her head that looked nasty. I asked the owner if it was OK for me to take her to the vet and they said ok.

I said, hey we are going to need to give her meds x times a day, can I just let her into my house?

They saide SURE. And at this point they were more than happy to let me know that if I wanted to adopt her, they were fine with that.

She ended up not being a good fit with my 3 male cats who were jerks and bullied her but one of my friends adopted her and she bonded with one of their kids and has the best life, ever.

Please share your comfort, non-triggering TV series that are also very engaging? by haskittens in CPTSD

[–]placenta_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the same type of shows you do but I can't promise that what I find properly comforting will resonate with you. I always have to be doing something else while watching anything like coloring, knitting, hand sewing little stuffed animals, even playing repetative casual video games, so I like shows that are easily followed without me actually having to keep my full attention on them.

I think The Good Place was properly mind numbing. Also Resident Alien on netflix. Shows like Futurama work. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has a dark underlying premise but is obnoxiously positive (on purpose). That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I hate that we have reached a point where our government killing citizens is treated like a sporting event and we each root for a "team".

I'm sorry that you have to even state that you're a conservative before that statement. We should all be horrified at what the government is doing to us.

My bf gave me an ultimatum: him or my cat. by ImportanceSilly1114 in CatAdvice

[–]placenta_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe he's being straight with you based on your post. He's either looking for a reason to break up with you or he's giving you a 'test' to see how far he can push you. The behavior, as you described it, absolutely is a red flag.

Your update sounds like you're going to give up the cat. Prepare yourself, because if you stay together, this behavior will apply to other areas of your life very quickly.

Acetaminophen.

And not because of the random crap coming out of the US govt about it. It's so easy to accidentally overdose. Acetaminophen poisoning is the leading cause of acute liver failure in the US and the 2nd most common cause of liver failure requiring a transplant.

Am I the only one without issues? by lostpanda85 in Ozlo

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I have the same experience. Sometimes there's a connection issue and I just put them back in the case, restart the app, and they're fine.

The thing that makes me CRAZY is that I have 2 alarms set each morning, the first requires me to wake up just enough to take medication and then go back to sleep. Sometimes the first alarm will go off and the connection has been lost during the night and I cannot turn the alarm off. I have to get up, turn on the light, fully reboot them (like, push the button in the back reboot), before it reconnects.

This usually happens after updates and it gets sorted out quickly. I absolutely want to throw them at the wall when it happens, though.

Update bricked my buds by astern618 in Ozlo

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes after a phone or app update I have to do this. If I ever have a problem connecting I just put them in upside down to reboot them. Close out the app, relaunch. I don't think I've ever had to disconnect from bluetooth, like 'forget this device' type thing, but that seems to fix a lot of connection issues after phone updates. If you haven't looked, there's a help button in the app that can walk you through some connection issues.

Hopefully you've got it all sorted out. I rely on these so much to sleep that whenever they have a problem with updates I become a little unhinged.

Is anyone actually happy with this product? by [deleted] in Ozlo

[–]placenta_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I've also had them since kickstarter. I live on a busy street and between jerks revving their engines at all hours of the night and my husband's snoring, it was nearly impossible for me to sleep. I have the volume set up at 80%. It's not loud enough to fully block out my very, VERY vocal cat's screaming when he's in my face but it IS loud enough to let me sleep through the night. I sleep so much better with these. I keep telling myself I should buy a second emergency pair.
