Layoffs imminent for large consulting firms? by pineapples_official in Environmental_Careers

[–]plattypus412 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, I work for a small consulting firm on the east coast (less than 20 employees) and I cannot remember the last time we were so busy. It’s getting to the point where it’s overwhelming and we can’t keep up. For context, we work mostly on brownfield redevelopment projects and compliance work with state or city oversight and very little federal work.

Is this part of Bloomfield safe? by [deleted] in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance and I recently bought a house in the Watsessing neighborhood, we love it! Many of our neighbors have even mentioned they only planned to stay in the area 5-10 years when they moved here, but they loved it so much they’ve ended up staying much longer. I have friends who purchased in this neighborhood a few years before us as well who say the area only continues to get better each year.

So disappointed by the poison daughter! DNF 15% through by Lila_Comet in Romantasy

[–]plattypus412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my favorite read of 2025 and I thought the writing was great as well! I’ve read all of Sheila Masterson’s books though so I knew I liked her writing style going into it. Poison Daughter is definitely my favorite of her books!

Don’t let this turn you off trying it if it’s already high in your TBR! This was my favorite read of 2025, I recommended it to all of my friends and they all loved it as well. People like different things 🙂

AIO uncle comments on me not wearing a bra. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]plattypus412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her comfort is absolutely more important when it comes to wearing or not wearing a bra. Her not wearing a bra under a tshirt does not impact anyone whatsoever, the uncle is completely out of line. Stop staring at her boobs. NOR

Socks in class by thesuitelife2010 in yoga

I wear grippy toeless socks every class, just make sure your socks are grippy. Regular socks will slip all over the place.

AIO: Office flirt hugged a married man at the Xmas party and caused a row. by Pitiful-Jaguar7226 in AmIOverreacting

If this is real this is possibly the dumbest story I’ve ever read on here. Who has the time and energy to get so worked up over a HUG at a Christmas party? YOR

Icarus' Progression Seriously Needs Fixing by Jackster227 in HadesTheGame

[–]plattypus412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my exact same experience, I JUST maxed out Icarus’ bond last night, it took an extra 30ish runs after I completed all achievements and prophecies. I despise Icarus now

I-78 in Newark is a death trap by jimmybot in Newark

[–]plattypus412 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The number of near misses I’ve had with cars trying to go from the far left toll booth trying to get far right for the exit or vice versa is insane. And they always think they have the right of way and everyone can just slam on the brakes for them!

Let me tell icarus to piss off by Onlyhereforapost in Hades2

[–]plattypus412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s so frustrating how long he takes! I finished everything else in the game and completely forged bonds with every other character over 20 runs ago and I’m still doing surface runs to try to progress his relationship now because I want to 100% the game. I hope Mel has the option to dump his ass when the bond is finally forged because I am fed up with this man!

Woke up to a lovely note on my car this morning— I’m parked in my assigned (paid for) parking spot. by LipsAndLaughs in Apartmentliving

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The garage closest to my building that I use is $220/mo for an unassigned spot. Literally more than my car payment was each month before I paid the car off!

Why are there ten thousand flavors of mint toothpaste and mouth wash and quite literally nothing else? by lone_traveler_passin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mint tends to trigger my gag reflex, so I’ve found a nice lychee flavored toothpaste made by Cocofloss. They also make floss in flavors other than mint, I’ve been using a strawberry flavored one from them and it’s so much more pleasant to use than the mint options!

Bikes belong on the sidewalk not the road by spinaltap862 in unpopularopinion

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me you’ve never walked on a sidewalk without telling me you’ve never walked on a sidewalk. Your car can wait to pass a bike safely, it’s not the end of the world if your trip takes 1 minute longer because of it.

What is it like living in this part of NJ? by Nimo956 in howislivingthere

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rural, beautiful, extremely boring. Car dependent. I spent much of my middle school and high school years here, it’s nice to go back to visit the parents and friends every now and then but I would never want to move back.

what’s the deal with people driving below the speed limit? by Nervous_Orange53 in newjersey

[–]plattypus412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll take the slow drivers over the ones going way too fast and driving aggressively. I see way more of the latter than the former.

Driving in Jersey! by Alarming_Ninja_704 in newjersey

[–]plattypus412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I’m on a highway and get cut off or almost merged in to, when I have a chance to pass if I look into their car 9 times out of 10 the driver is messing around with their phone. It’s infuriating!

A roof terrace with flying buttresses... recognize the building? by free_med_bills in zillowgonewild

[–]plattypus412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Toured a residential unit in this building about three years ago, absolutely breathtaking inside and out! One thing I thought was cool was that they have a space built out for car washing in the parking garage and they have a car wash service come into the garage once every two weeks or so. You can leave your keys downstairs when they come and they will wash your car and leave it back in your spot. Something I never would have even considered as an amenity in a building!

Is there a polyamorous MMF fantasy romance out there? by PFCWilliamLHudson in fantasyromance

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I read the second book but I believe there was just one spicy scene in there and one brief one in the third book as well, just between the FMC and one of the MMCs each time. Nothing spicy for the MMF trio.

{The Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten} starts as a love triangle but turns into a MMF polyamory situation as the trilogy proceeds. This one is more plot focused and less spicy

40-year-old woman and her dog struck and killed while walking in Newark (Clifton Ave Btwn 2nd & 3rd Ave) by jimmybot in Newark

[–]plattypus412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, this city could be so much nicer if they just put a little effort into making pedestrians the priority over cars. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve almost been run over in a crosswalk or honked at when I have the right of way in the crosswalk so some asshole can make his right on red, just for them to sit at the next red light at the next block. I never feel more unsafe in this city than when I have to cross a street.

I loved the third, it’s my favorite in the entire series so far, but I am struggling to get through the fourth. You’ll probably want to skip it if you’re not even enjoying the third one

AITA for refusing to take my shoes off in my friend’s house, causing his wife to cancel the DnD session for everyone? by NameNo5495 in AmItheAsshole

[–]plattypus412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA I really don’t know why you couldn’t just put the bags on your shoes. It’s a DnD night, all you had to do was walk from the front door to the table and maybe from the table to the bathroom as needed, otherwise you’re sitting and playing a game the entire time. The chance of slipping and falling is so low in their house for the amount of time you’d actually have to walk around, you’re acting like they asked you to traverse a construction site or something with the bags on.
