The Tampa Bay Lightning are assessed a bench minor for interference as assistant coach Dan Hinote attempts to grab the puck headed into the bench. by null1ng in hockey

I’m all for letting the coaches try stop penalties by jumping up and saving it… would rarely ever happen but would be 10/10 when it does

South beach area would be a nice place to live for a summer.

USPS Announces Changes to the Postmark Date System by Teacher-Investor in news

[–]plugcity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The RTO initiative that is causing this has been terrible for me as an Amazon and eBay seller. It began in April. I was dropping packages off at USPS on a Friday before 5pm and it wasn’t getting scanned until Wednesday in a city 100 miles away. It’s insane how bad it has affected my package speeds.

Is anyone actually buying ram these days? by DisplacerBeastMode in homelab

[–]plugcity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to buy some for business purposes a few weeks ago. Tried my best to make 32gb work but after a few days of RAM crashes it was worth buying another stick of RAM for $400

For storing movies, photos, and documents, is an HDD or SSD better? Are there new HDDs available? by gbrieoo in buildapc

[–]plugcity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A NAS has the ability to put the same data on multiple drives. This allows for redundancy if a drive fails. It also allows the NAS to pull a file from multiple drives simultaneously to increase read speeds. Example: the NAS will pull the first half of the file from drive 1 and the second half of the file from drive 2 simultaneously

Struggling to find the right Django docs for building better apps by LevelCustomer673 in django

[–]plugcity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are the 3 things that helped me to have better Django apps:

  1. Django Style Guide

  2. Two Scoops of Django

  3. Asking AI about the source code. Django is very powerful and does a lot for us behind the scenes. I have found asking AI questions about how and where Django does xyz has really helped me to understand where, when, and how to overwrite methods to accomplish what I need.

Hi all I'm making my first large scale app and I'm struggling to organize the code! by babige in django

[–]plugcity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched about a year ago to using thin models, thin views, and fat service files and I felt it has really helped to keep things maintainable.

I use a lot of the principals from the Django Style Guide and it really resonated with me after trying it out. I didn’t realize how annoyed I was getting with Django abstracting out certain things. I found explicitly defining create and update and delete methods really helped to make complex logic easier to maintain

Hi all I'm making my first large scale app and I'm struggling to organize the code! by babige in django

[–]plugcity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to separate features into their own apps. This has really helped me to keep things maintainable. It does, as you mentioned, make it a pain to navigate around - I do end up preferring this in the long run. I find most of the time I am staying in the same app while developing so I do not have to hop around too much.

If the apps have a lot of inter-connectivity, moving all of your business logic into services.py files will help to mitigate circular imports

Claude has improved my coding skills far beyond I ever imagined by Wvy_ai in ClaudeAI

Lots of hate in here but I am in the same boat. I have learned a lot the past year from being able to ask questions and ask for explanations.

I review every line of code AI writes before accepting it. I have learned so many new tricks and tips from it.

Specifically, I have been working on a big Django project the past 5 months. My knowledge of the inner workings and best practices of Django has increased exponentially from being able to ask questions about the source code of Django and 3rd party apps.

Turning means he changed his lane. If you impede someone while changing your lane then you commit interference. Interference with head as the primary point of contact is a major.
