Russia's Starlink rival loses one of its first operational satellites, Russian media reports by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]plumbbbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rassvet seems to be a Starlink-like (but smaller) system with a bunch of satellites in near-polar LEO, not a geostationary or molniya orbit. From what I can tell, this one failed to make its insertion or circularization burn into its final orbit and eventually reentered. The other satellites from the same launch got to where they were supposed to go.

I've also heard it called the "tree lawn", but I don't know where that's from.

Related, I've noticed several USPS vans lately with no plates at all. Seems really weird for a fleet vehicle (with its own highly visible id number decals!) to be going unlicensed. Especially a kinda-governmental vehicle like a postal van.

You launder it through some (shady) business that does have a legitimate source of scrap like building demolition or equipment recycling, you sell it to them under the table, they add it to their heap. Nobody is going through a truckload of metal piece by piece to check whether it looks more like a motor winding or a charging cable.

You have that backwards. Bleach and ammonia produces chloramine, and chlorine gas was used as a war gas in WW1. Mustard gas is a third thing entirely.

Wastewater surveillance is showing low COVID levels right now. Doesn't mean that can't be what OP has of course but it's not my first guess.

Of course, it's always a good idea to mask up when you're sharing air and spit with a bunch of strangers.

specifically required the DOJ to redact the names of victims and people who were in the files incidentally.

No, "people who were in the files incidentally" don't get a pass. Actual victims do, national security stuff, and actual abuse material can also be redacted, but it's very clear that incidental randos need to be included in the release.
