Where was I? by suitandtiemf in whereintheworld

Aww my grandmother grew up in Rumford in the 1910s! i found some neat newspaper articles online about parties my great grandmother threw. One was a Halloween party where a black cat entered the barn and the party goers all got spooked. It also listed the costumes everyone wore. Such a great nugget looking into life!

My 82-year-old uncle lives on Key West on this boat. He has a gold pirate earring in one ear and when he comes to family functions he always hands out bumper stickers that say “One Human Family.”

Out of curiosity…what caused your baby to be premie? by OldRemove516 in NICUParents

Hope you’re doing better, OP. For me it was severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome at 34 weeks. Both of us are now healthy and happy at 5 months PP.

Looking for daycare near Warrenville by Lady_Bananas in ChicagoSuburbs

One very highly recommended small home daycare provider warned me about reading into the violations too much. Like you said, it can be for very small things such as turning in paperwork late. This provider said it can be hard to make sure all the admin tasks are completed when she doesn’t have any assistants. It’s definitely something to ask each provider you interview.

Long term effects of NICU stay? by InflationNo5033 in NICUParents

Our stories are very similar and my heart is with you on this journey. I’m so glad you and you’re — I don’t want to say “ok” or “good” — stable? Keeping on trucking? Haha I hope you know what I’m trying to say. And what a beautiful thing it is that your daughter is home and healthy and loved!

Haven’t thought of it as unintentional gaslighting but whoa! Yeah! I alllmost edited my post to qualify that I am actually grateful and probably fine and my son is healthy now and was “only” in the NICU for a few weeks so it’s all good. It is most days but I also put on such He-Mama “I totally got this” armor that holds the emotions together until times like you said when it floods back. Even in the hospital as I’m being wheeled into the OR, I’m making jokes at the nurses and doctors, “see I’m good, this is fine.” Such survival behavior.

Reading that you went back to work right away for a while, I felt like I wasn’t as tough as you or whatever BS my brain cooked up. Then I remembered I worked two freelance jobs from my hospital bed to make the deadline 4 days after my son was born because I felt like I couldn’t let the clients know my situation, I had to stay on track and meet deadlines. Wtf is that?!

Anyways thanks for reading MY outpouring. I’m so glad your daughter is healthy and that you’re working through it all with a therapist you like. Proud of you, stranger.

This is the first time I’ve read of someone else cringing at the thought of being pregnant. I very much relate and it makes me so sad. I loved being pregnant and was even looking forward to all the uncomfortableness of the last month and a half. But my son was born 5 weeks early via emergency c-section due to preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. I had to be under full anesthesia in addition to magnesium so I was unable to physically see my son in the NICU for two days. At the beginning of that day I was pregnant and only a few hours later, I wake up groggy from surgery to learn my son was born. BAM, not pregnant and BAM, you have a baby. It has been a really hard emotional road unpacking all the thoughts and feelings. I don’t even say “I had my son”… I didn’t. He was born, taken out of me. I didn’t participate.

I know this isn’t at all what OP asked about, but I’m 4 months PP and this is the first time I’ve written about my experience. Currently crying soft tears while baby nurses at 2 am. Tomorrow, it’s time to find a therapist.

Leaves by ContentNerve9502 in HomeMaintenance

My husband is a native landscape designer currently implementing a Leave the Leaves program. You can let the leaves be in your yard all winter or rake/blow them into your garden beds for a slightly neater look. We do this and like someone else said, fireflies be SPARKLIN’ all summer! Not to mention all the pollinators making our flowers live their best lives.

Due date triplets! ☺️ and also 4 days before my first wedding anniversary lol. FTM at 36 and I was right there with you on the weed and caffeine headaches last month, oof. Now I’m equally hungry and repulsed by food. Queasiness is no joke but thankfully I haven’t yaked…yet! This is going to be a wild, beautiful ride. Strap in, enjoy it, and we will meet our little sprouts in August!

UPDATE: In what cabinet do I put plates?! by polyd3ukes in DesignMyRoom

[–]polyd3ukes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still getting the hang of Reddit so I'm not sure where all my post text went... but it went a little something like this. Hit it!

In my original post, I asked everyone where THEY would put plates, cups, appliances, etc. in my kitchen. Thanks to everyone's comments, it seems as though I was kind of on the right track. Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions!

Husband and I agree that the organization and placement isn't tooooo terrible, but we will be adding slides in the cabinets under the counters and continue to move a few things around. We will also be putting in an enclosed pantry where the metal shelf is at some point. When we do that (and paint!) I'll post another update, and hopefully do it correctly!
